We are so excited about finding this place! I am quite picky when it comes to hush puppies and I have to say they have the best! The meat is perfect! A great smoky flavor, just the right amount of vinegar... We could not get enough of it. The women behind the counter were very friendly and the establishment is very clean. We will definitely be returning to Oakwood BBQ!
None of that heathen unsophisticated ketchup stuff - and not awash in vinegar. Delicately seasoned, Consistently perfect. I smuggle quantities back to Arizona on a regular basis on every trip home to family. Out in the country a bit but conveniently on way to Ellis airport if you're flying out. They are open only until they sell out. Cole slaw bland but otherwise - this is the epitome of eastern NC barbeque.

Accidentally happened upon Oakwood BBQ and so thankful we did!! We happened by on a Saturday they were open and hadn't sold out yet. We've had a lot of BBQ and we agree it's the best we've ever had! Cooked to perfection and you can tell the love is poured into every plate ❤️
