Really really enjoyed our tacos from Mike and his food truck. Tacos are $10 but are valuable by the size and contents. Not only do you get to pick from a huge variety of seafood (we got grilled shrimp, fried cod and fried flounder) but you also get homemade sauce and baja slaw. The baja slaw and size of the taco make up for the $10. You get your money's worth with the 8" taco versus going to shaka taco and getting a small taco. Wow, this is the local fresh seafood market to come and buy fresh seafood on the island. We stopped in to check it out as it is in Topsail Beach (the town) on the southern end. It is out of the way to get to but well worth the drive. The boats that bring the catch in are out the back door and you can go out and check them out. The person I chatted with offered me more advice and ideas than I would have thought of. This is definitely worth the drive to come get items to take back...read full review

The seafood shack is next to the seafood market, where the fresh fish is sourced. And there’s fish delivered to the dock off the market. The clam chowder (really good) is white but not too thick. And you can order local fish (broiled is our preferred) in your choice of taco, sandwich, bowl or platter.
