Very good NC pork BBC, black eyed peas, slaw and collard greens.
I've been eating at Jackson's all my life, but I commented to my husband tonight that it always slaps! Thought I'd give a thank you shout to the Davis family for keeping the restaurant in tip top shape after all these years! It remains a Wilmington staple.

Delicious eastern style barbecue, chicken and pastry, and mac and cheese. Rachel was our server today and she was very busy solely waiting on the Saturday lunch crowd while we were there 12:30-1:30. She had a very friendly and pleasant demeanor and was very attentive!

Jackson's Big Oak Barbecue is a clean and nicely decorated restaurant with helpful service. The country food choices have excellent preparation, and the BBQ, including chicken, is highly recommended. Prices are fair, and the portions are generously sized. The restaurant has ample on-premise parking. About half of the seats have window views, and there is a large tree with benches outside. The Mac and cheese, baked beans, pulled pork, and pork chop are tasty. The coleslaw has a unique mustardy flavor, and green beans, yams, and hush puppies are also available. The restaurant is an icon in Wilmington, North Carolina, and the owner, Hunter Davis, is known for his kindness. Customers praise the affordability, quality of the BBQ and sides, and the great service.
