New Szechuan is hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting, not just in Winston-Salem but anywhere! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the incredible aroma of authentic Chinese spices and dishes cooking in the kitchen. It’s enough to make your mouth water before you even sit down.

The food here is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish is crafted with such authenticity that it feels like a trip to the heart of China. The menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of dishes to satisfy every craving—whether you’re a fan of spicy Szechuan specialties or prefer something milder like their stir-fried noodles or dumplings. I highly recommend their Kung Pao Chicken and Ma Po Tofu—absolutely bursting with flavor!

What really stands out is how affordable everything is. You can get a feast for a very reasonable price, which is rare these days for food of this quality. “This was our second time eating here. Both times the service was a little off. Items ordered but not delivered even after asking again. Celebrations happen very frequently. An average of four times during both of our visits. The celebrations are done with a giant firework lit at the table (not ours but all around us). The smoke in the air from all those fireworks gets super heavy in such a small space. The food is always amazing at least“

“I love their white rice and sesame tofu! I've had rice from a couple of Chinese fusion restaurants here in WS, and this rice is by far the best I've had. “If you’re looking for good takeout! Portions are big which is a huge plus and food is always fresh. Seems to be the main reason why the people love this place. If you’re going for the atmosphere probably not your best option as it’s just a regular Chinese restaurant nothing different than most ordinary spots.“

“With a basic name like China and no websitee you might assume they are not much, but for my money they are the BEST chinese retaurant in town. Thier Lo Mein is my favorite but I have yet to try something there that I did not find expectonal.

“This used to be my favorite place on the nights when cooking was not an option. But sometimes the workers can be a little unfriendly and slightly hostile. Although the food is great the service can really put a damping on the overall experience. And even though I have moved in to another restaurant I still like to get a meal from this establishment every now and again. Like with everywhere else the prices have definitely increased over time but it still worth the great taste of the food. I would give this 4.5 rating but it doesn't do a half star so I'll go ahead with a 5 star rating. Not to mention the hours are great for those who may work late.

“I called at 8:45pm. And they close at 9pm. They had no problem getting me fresh food incredibly fast, as along as I could get there before 9pm. Everything tasted wonderful (2 pork eggs rolls, 1 pt of Hot & Sour Soup, House Chop Suey, House Mei Fun, and Shrimp Lo Mein). I am so pleased with their customers service. “I really enjoy dining here, this is a regular spot for my husband and I. We have also had our family and friends try Peking as well, and they enjoy it too! Great tasting food, very welcoming and charming staff. They are great in making food according to my food allergies/sensitivities (mushroom allergy) as well which is really awesome, because most Chinese restaurants will just pick out the mushrooms in dishes I order that happen to have it, not understanding that I will have anaphylaxis with any contact) and they wash everything that is used in creating the dishes I order. Honestly, if they had a fancy looking brick and mortar they could charge 3 times the price because all of their food is so good. I am a very picky Chinese food person.
