Hel’s is a welcoming and inclusive bar in Winston-Salem, often called the Gay Bar of the town. The bar is very small inside but has a large patio outside to smoke. It has a definite charm for being ambiguously Gay. Hel’s is straight-up fun, loud, funky, and full of personality. The vibe hits the second you walk in. It is friendly, a little wild, and absolutely leans into its atmosphere. The drinks are solid, with a wide selection of signature cocktails and non-alcohol drinks, plus 420-infused options. Hel’s has karaoke every Wednesday starting at 10, and hosts drag and burlesque shows, often open to new faces. There is also a live DJ for dancing. The staff and customers are very friendly. It is a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals. The crowd is very diverse, and friendly dogs are allowed outside on the patio. Cold drinks and clean bathrooms are offered. For good drinks and good times, Hel’s is the move.
