Today, and a month ago it took forever for someone to even take our drink order- which never happened after a half an hour although all the tables around us got food, drinks, and more refills. Very disappointed because we look forward to coming here when we come to town! The 6 of us went elsewhere to eat because we still had 6-7 employees come out back and never once did anyone take our drink order food order so we just left!

A visit to Cunningham’s Journal (Lake) on 3/15/25, after a wonderful day exploring the area and enjoying the Cranes, was disappointing. The atmosphere was much to our liking, and our waiter was great, pleasant and attentive. After some time, reviewing the tantalizing looking menu, we both decided on the Ribeye Sandwich. No where in the description “grilled ribeye, topped with onion strips and Monterey Jack cheese” did we think to expect to receive a large over-toasted hogie bun, with a few, small sized, slices of beef (to cover about 2/3rds of the bottom bun) topped with the onions and cheese. What a disappointment for $17!! Maybe we made a poor choice from the very inviting menu, however, my advice is that you clarify your menu to indicate this is NOT a steak sandwich, but, a limited ingredient Philly sandwich. Do wish I had a photo to share, but I speak the truth.

After reviewing numerous of your replies to the less than satisfactory reviews, they all seem quite repetitive. I do appreciate your response! Hoping you take the reviews serious, and truly make the changes to better the experience for future customers.

Always friendly & quick service, amazing food. Great atmosphere inside &:out.

During a long cross-country trip, I decided to try this restaurant for lunch over a fast food drive thru. I placed a carryout order 30 minutes in advance for shrimp tacos, specifically asking for no onions and for the mango salsa to be served on the side. Unfortunately, the order arrived with both onions and the salsa mixed in, and I ended up feeling unwell shortly after eating. While I understand that lunch rushes can be hectic, this oversight was disappointing given the extra effort to stop by. Hopefully, the restaurant can be more careful with special requests in the future. Ruined our day and road trip.

unfortunately the food cost is high for what it is. The service was ehh not the best due to the fact they add 18% Tip for a party of 6 or more. Don't have a problem paying a good tip if they do a nice job. But just doing a D- job why should we pay that kinda money. Then they get pissed off because you don't leave another tip when you pay. also the server's stand right there looking how much of a added tip they are going to get. I can make a better hamburger at home. We love the atmosphere but the service sucks.

We decided to go here but the mood quickly changed when the bartender thought one of our IDs were fake. The back and forth took well over 15 minutes prior to even getting the ID back from the manager. She told us that the ID didn’t match her “book” and refused to serve us. She said we could call the police so we did. The police officer arrived, scanned the ID and it came back as valid. The manager never came back over to apologize or offer to serve us. If you are under 30 don’t trust that they believe your ID is real….

We had a great dinner here. The waiter was awesome and most of the food was excellent. We had a few issues: 2 french dips came out extremely fatty and we had to send them back. Ended up having to order something else because all of the beef for those was bad, which is fine. The manager says "I took those off the bill for you." Well yeah, of course. Then proceeds to charge us for the replacement meals. That seemed wrong. They did end up taking them off after we asked. Anyway, that's the only reason for 4 stars vs 5. Overall, it was a good dinner and we would definitely eat here again.

Came here off recommendations from friends. Atmosphere was amazing and was fairly busy when we ate dinner. Food was okay but pretty cold when it got to our table for the two of us. We got the grilled chicken macaroni with onion strips and a burger and fries. Service was not great as we had to track down our food waitress for refills that we never got. She disappeared when we got our food until it was time for the check which we had to wait a while for. Overall not bad but wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here when there’s tons of other options n Kearney. Would give the other location a chance but would take some convincing and would certainly not come back to this location sadly.

Good food. Would have been great if they added some green beans and veggies with rice along with Hawaiian Chicken Skewers. It was very dark inside. A bit more lights could elevate conversations while dining.
