Lonnell’s Southern Delights is a restaurant in Omaha that serves real good soul food, Mississippi Tennessee Arkansas certified. The food is absolutely amazing, from the fresh greens to the cat fish. Chicken is on point. Other dishes include oxtail and gravy, melt in your mouth ribs, pinto beans, sweet potatoes, 7-Up cake, cornbread and rolls, chicken fried steak breakfast, smothered porkchops, and grits. The main dishes and the sides are all amazing. The food reminded one guest of their Great Grandma. One of the best customer service experiences. Lonnell and her husband Greg have been open at the same location for 24 years. As Lonnell says, “Let the gravy fly!” It might be the greatest hidden gem in Omaha. However, some find the food way too pricey. One guest noted that a meal of cabbage, cornbread, yams, and Mac and cheese cost $19 with no meat or dessert. The Mac and cheese could use more cheese and less salt. A guest suggested adding a vegetable plate with 3 veggies and cornbread for $10 or $12. Another asked why bread or cornbread does not come with every meal. Despite the cost, the food is real good.
