The wings had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, the brisket was super juicy, and the sides were perfectly done. The young lady who took my order explained the brand and the food to me and offered suggestions; she didn’t ridicule me for not knowing what I wanted. I got the original burger combo figuring it would be good since that’s what they started with, and it did not disappoint. The sauce for the fries was free and tasted great! I will definitely be back! Food… tomato sauce is top shelf… but if you are featuring your sauce and you fill a dish surrounding 2 small pieces of eggplant( which was cooked perfectly BTW) you need to provide some BREAD for dipping… not everyone likes garlic bread ( at $10) avoid the “ wood fired” artichokes… they are “ canned” and nothing special at $14! The Short rib plate with butternut squash is amazing… a little on the sweet side… but something special for sure.
The Meatballs…. Ypu can make better at home small orbs of deep fried beef… very little flavor very crunchy…. Not a good choice!!! Food is a mixed bag… some good… some not so good… we will return for the cocktails…. Wine? No way!!! Meatballs??? Eat a tennis ball!! Artichokes??? Make them yourself at home! Music is WAY too loud…. Pretty pricey tab for 7’out of 10 food. Pizza was made with top shelf ingredients but bottom crust was “ flubbery” needed a few minutes in a hot pan. This place is among the best choices for cocktails in Sayreville… but needs work to be worth multiple“

Stopped by Applebee’s the other night expecting a regular chain-restaurant situation, but honestly? The real MVP was the server — I think her name was Stephanie. If it wasn’t, someone in there is definitely giving off strong Stephanie energy, because she crushed it.

She was quick, on top of everything, and actually seemed to care. Drinks stayed full, food came out hot, and she handled the whole table like a pro. No attitude, no disappearing act, none of that “I’ll be right back” then vanishing into a black hole. Just solid, reliable service that made the whole meal smoother.

Food was classic Applebee’s: good, predictable, hits the spot when you’re hungry. But the service? That’s what made it feel like a better experience than it probably should’ve been.

Bottom line: 4.5/5 — shoutout to maybe-Stephanie for carrying the night. If that wasn’t her name, someone please give the right girl some credit.“

“We had a nice time celebrating my son's surprise 21st birthday at Grillestone. Jose and staff were all very nice and easy to work with and they even helped pull off the surprise. Since it was a 21st Birthday, I wanted to keep it casual and wanted food that my son enjoys when hanhing out. Jose was accommodating and I ordered all different appetizers as the meal. We had plenty of food and it came out all night long as discussed just needed a little bread in between (lol) and we even had leftovers to take home as well. We had a variety of pizza, fried calamari, avacado toast, wings, mac & cheese, nachos, sliders & fries, quesadilla & Ceasar Salad, Great staff, food, drinks all night long. The only thing missing was the band/ DJ but the weather didn't cooperate that night. Thanks again and we look forward in coming back!!!“
