Located in a small strip mall in Cranford you wouldn’t expect much but you’d be wrong. The space is small and gets crowded and a bit loud but the food is absolutely delicious. BYOB of wine and good friends and you are in for a great time. I almost always order the chicken piccata and it’s the only place where they do fried calamari right. Next time i'm visit NJ I will make this a must stop.
We hadn't been to Il Gabbiano in a few years, so we decided to take advantage of Restaurant Week in our town and try it. There were four of us, and we had a great meal, with terrific service. We look forward to dining at this restaurant again.
We ordered Mama Mia Pasta, Meatballs and Linguini and Steak Old Fashion. Everything tasted ok, but nothing spectacular. I wish the pasta had been homemade, but alas you could tell they were from a box. Service was fast and friendly.
