“For a small Mexican restaurant, the food was good. The pictures we had were taken in a rush, because we ate everything before I remembers to take pics. The ceviche is quite good, order it 'less spicy' like we did if that's not your thing. I had fish soft tacos, which were done well and portion size was good. Guacamole is very good - better than that C chain place. Service seemed stretched - not enough staff in my opinion, I only saw two servers and two in the kitchen (from my guess) on a Saturday night around 7pm. It's BYOB, so I guess its never really packed.“

“I just left El Paso Tex-Mex grill and had by far the most delicious and fresh chicken burrito I’ve ever tasted! It even came with a side of chips and salsa. The staff were courteous and the restaurant and bathroom were super clean! There’s even a free secure parking lot right out front. This restaurant is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and can accommodate a comfortable group as well. I plan to spread the word… Thanks Paco!!“

“The highlights are definitely the chipotle chicken. Tried the carne asada and it was alright. The green sauce and lime definitely brought its score up. I wanted to try the short rib but apparently it’s pork. But I hear it’s good. It’s a really cute spot, though a bit pricey.“

Zee the Manager is a gem, friendly and provides the BEST customer service.

Their specialty are the birria tacos—you won’t be disappointed. Its a large serving and you’ll lick your fingers throughout.

“It’s funny that some of the reviews here complain about servers not speaking English...it’s an actual authentic Mexican restaurant what do you expect? The menus are in both English and Spanish and have descriptions if you are not familiar with Mexican food. I love this place and you really can’t beat the prices. The food is great and I always wind up taking some home (maybe because I fill up on all the chips and salsa they give before the meal).“

Friendly greeting when we walked in, quick table service and the food is fresh and very flavorful! We each had Quesadilla's de Carne Asada (Steak) - and the serving sizes were big, we each only ate half and too the rest home.

“Came to Maize for dinner with my toddler and husband to see what the hype was all about. Margarita was excellent. Was bummed my daughter didn’t have access to a high chair as they only have two and were being used. For a restaurant in a family friendly downtown there needs to be more high chairs available. Food was ok. Atmosphere 5 stars. Service was good. My daughter’s meal was also forgotten and did not come out with the main entree. Likely would come back for drinks and appetizers on a date night versus with my toddler.“

“I grew up in Texas and enjoyed this authentic beef taco bowl for a casual and affordable dinner in Newark. The owner and staff clearly put their hearts into each ingredient in the bowl which comes together as a Tex-Mex festival of flavors.

Six Tortillas would of been fine for that dinner. We asked for more and they gave us 3. Noticing the bill I WAS CHARGED for the 3 extra ($2.50)? That's Not Good Business. I have never been charged for a few extra tortillas. I will not go back or recommend. Disappointed. It was freezing in there.“

For some of us, it might simply call for going out and getting tacos or even just preparing our own.

Situated in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Roselle Park, this establishment is set inside a small corner suburban home where some of my colleagues decided on takeout, which came highly recommended. Upon arrival at Taqueria La Casita, or “The Little House Taqueria,” we were confronted outside by the neon signage reading “Tacos Open” and Mexican flags, among other pieces of colorful decor.

Greeted by the staff inside an un-air-conditioned cozy dining room decked out in its Mexican splendor with 4 tables. In the back, a colorful menu with nearly a dozen different types of tacos and an array of other dishes written by hand.

We opted for individual orders containing 4 tacos with Shrimp, Chicken, Steak, and Pork. While waiting, we couldn’t help but notice the trompo—the spinning, shawarma-adjacent log of marinated pork used for Al Pastor, which translates to “in the style of the shepherd.” Originating in Puebla, this came at the hands of Lebanese immigrants during the 1930s.

The tortilla itself was freshly made, of the corn variety. They were stuffed to the brim with meat prepared in front of us and served with cucumbers and lime. Fresh condiments of diced onion, cilantro, and avocado were separated in their own container, and all were needed. Various sauces accompanied in small containers, such as green, which was jalapeño-based; the darker red salsa was smoky from dried and smoked chipotle chilis; and neon orange, which was a sauce made from chili de arbol and tomato. The guacamole was absolutely delicious along with the chips, and we couldn’t get enough. The portion was a healthy size.

The service was fast; Maribel was friendly and accommodating. Authentic, fresh, and affordable—we can recommend this place.“

“Wow!!! What can’t I not say about this place , the decor was incredible you can see that the place has history. I felt like going back home and changing my out for this place is amazing ! The service was Superb, we didn’t have to ask our waiter or waitress for anything we were constantly attended to . The food was great and the portions are are great. I went with my fiancé and daughter so I always order family style , so we had a little of everything . I know it’s cold out but I love a good frozen margarita and it was perfect . Also at the end Jolie , the owner/daughter of the owner also , offered us some free shots of RED CADILLAC TEQUILA , that’s made from them by them . It was very soothing . Will definitely make this my new Spanish go to restaurant. The Salvadorian Chicken Tamale was moist and dense, and the flavors mixed perfectly together. If you order the beef empanadas, ask them for their new homemade hot sauce. It's a perfect blend of sweet & heat to go with the pastry dough. Their plantains were a good addition of sweet to the dense of the meal. Their flan was the perfect size for a nice ending dessert to a very filling meal. The salmon dish was so delicious that I plan on replicating this at home. Fingers crossed! The portions are very generous!
