We only ordered a few things--bean curd home style with black been sauce (the veggies were crisp and fresh), wonton soup (with fresh plump won tons), hargau (yummy translucent shrimp dumplings, and the walnut buns (my favorite--you have to try this dessert--like dumpling--it reminds me of some dim sum I can get in Chinatown in NYC). “I was at first excited when Dao Madison moved into town and even more excited when I was told they can accommodate gluten free as I have celiac. After several miss steps with mixed up orders, Dao is now cooking on all cylinders. We recently were there with friends and everyone loved it. Moreover, they have successfully accommodated my need to eat gluten free (I have celiac) several times, and have been pro active in suggesting what is easier and safer to make gluten free. “I ordered from this Chinese restaurant for the very first time to celebrate the grand opening of my nail salon, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! We got Yang Chow Fried Rice, General Tso’s Chicken, Shrimp with Garlic Sauce, Chow Fun, and the Orange Chicken Combo.

Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The Yang Chow Fried Rice was light and tasty, the General Tso’s Chicken had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy with a crispy bite, and the Shrimp with Garlic Sauce was packed with flavor and came with fresh, juicy shrimp. The Chow Fun had a great texture and was very satisfying. But the star of the night was the Orange Chicken Combo—crispy, sweet, and absolutely delicious. All of our guests loved it, and several even asked where we ordered from!

On top of the great food, the staff was friendly and the service was excellent, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. This restaurant truly exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely be ordering again. Highly recommend!“

“I’ve been ordering Chinese takeout back to living in Brooklyn for 20+ years. In almost all Chinese restaurant reviews, people always complain about delivery and how many shrimp they got. Just order pick up and don’t go to pricy places if u want to avoid being disappointed. I’ve bought from Madison Wok for 15 years now and never had a late order when ordering pick up here (usually 15 mins). The food tastes exactly as my local restaurant when I was a kid, so I can’t complain. For the price, consider how little you are paying for the amount of work and manpower going into it •• esp since it’s done so fast. Dao nearby has slightly less oil and flavor for a lot more money. I wanted to like it but just poor value since your deliver or pick up order price needs to support the wait staff. No American style Chinese food is healthy for you so stop thinking you’re doing something good by paying someone extra to do less oil, msg, etc. in summary, this is an old school place that gives you the standards for the least amount of money you’ll pay in this zip code. Not something to eat everyday, but when you need your fix for this kind of stuff. I recommend the pork dumplings, fried wings, curry chicken, wonton soup and any fried rice, plus the chow fun and generals chicken. My 3 kids never complain and no one has ever been sick. Sometimes I’m not crazy about the amount of meat but remember that I’m not paying $15 or $20 for a pint here, and the low prices are supporting a skeleton crew.“

“This was my first time ordering from this restaurant because it's hard to find good Chinese food. I ordered an orange chicken combo very spicy. The flavor of the food is excellent, the pork fried rice was on point and freshly made, the orange chicken was a bit mushy more on the softer side. If they can fry the chicken a little bit crunchy it would be perfect. The eggroll I'm not a fan of but it was okay. I enjoyed the food, and that will be my new goto restaurant from now on.“

“New Szechuan Kitchen is a decent Chinese restaurant, though the food is a bit on the greasy side for my liking. The flavors are generally good, but I found the dishes to be a bit overly oily.

That said, I do prefer the Bound Brook location 1,000 times more than this one. The flavor and consistency at the Bound Brook spot is much better in my experience.

Overall, New Szechuan Kitchen is an average Chinese restaurant. The food is okay, but nothing particularly remarkable. If you're in the mood for some classic Chinese fare, it might be worth a try, but I'd recommend the Bound Brook location over this one if you have the option.“

“Mr. Chu has been my family's go to for Chinese food for years. When they had the kitchen fire and the building was shut down, we thought that would be the end of Mr. Chu. We are so happy they have come back, and we have been there since their opening a couple of times already. The food was always outstanding and still is. The atmosphere is your typical Chinese restaurant attire. With the new paint and fixtures, it makes it appealing. I had the Shimp in Lobster sauce which did not disappoint. It was by far the best I have had in years. Even at some of the top-notch Chinese restaurants, the sauce is usually watery. Mr. Chu's had that perfect consistency you expect in lobster sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed my leftovers the next day. While my family and I do miss their homemade table noodles. When asked, we were told how time consuming they are to make. Once the staff gets to know you, you feel very welcomed. They are very attentive even while the restaurant is packed with patrons. If you want exceptional Chinese food, Mr. Chu's is the place to go.“

However, since the pandemic began in early-2020, their prices have gone through the roof!!! I understand, same thing could be said for supermarkets, gas, and the supply chain, but this is borderline insane pricing! Maybe their rent went up 75%? Not sure... Whatever the case may be, I used to be able to get a soup, egg roll, and some kind of chicken or beef and broccoli dish, with roast pork fried rice, for around $12. Now it's around $19. Big difference! Still fresh, clean and tasty, but for a take-out joint, a bit overly expensive, to say the least!“

“This place is really convenient in the middle of town between Summit and Chatham. They speak very good English and they’re not cheap with the meat that they put in the food. The food taste very delicious and the broccoli was really fresh and when you get beef and broccoli the beef is not chewy it is soft and has good flavor. Their egg drop soup is also very good. I was really disappointed by the other more expensive Chinese food places and the end of this place being the diamond of the town.“
