“Poke Bowl in Hillsborough is much better. The poke bowl topping options are limited at Poké star. When you order online, you can only choose one or two, and at Poké bowl you can get as much as you want of any of the toppings. Poke star gave me what I guess is supposed to be sushi rice but it just looks like regular white rice to me. It’s not sticky. Also, the mixed greens consisted of lettuce and huge pieces of spinach with thick, long stems that they should have cut off before serving. Flavor of the tuna was ok. Only saw literally 2 sesame seeds, but the sauce was very good and the place was clean and people were nice. $20 for one protein plus avocado here and it’s $17 for the same at Poke Bowl.“

“We walked into this place last minute on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday since another sushi place had been unable to accommodate gf. We could not have stumbled upon a better experience! Elan at the sushi bar made us a custom omakase tasting all gluten free and so delicious. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and really created a one of a kind meal while making us feel special and taken care of. We ended up with about 15 different courses i believe all fabulous and ended with a special ice cream sushi dessert. Best part was it’s been a bit since we ended and i still feel great, stuffed but i can tell it was celiac safe! We will definitely be back!“

“This is a brand new, recently opened restaurant and wow did they deliver for first impressions. Food was absolutely incredible. The sushi was fresh and made quickly. I had the volcano roll and the Naruto rainbow row, it was beautiful and delicious. Very good quality cuts and tasted fresh Really impressed by their milk tea as well. We got the original and Taro milk tea and it was fantastic. Staff was also very friendly and helpful in deciding what to order. Would definitely be coming back the next time I’m in town!“

BUT the MACKREL was the best, because it was lightly pickled and didnt have the acidity taste to it. the YELLOW TAIL was second best becuase it was soo smooth and melted as i ate it. yummy. there was a second huge dining room to accomadate more people and a second set of bathrooms too.“

Not sure how long they have been open for but we’ve been living in scotch plains for 8 years and just finally visited. I've come here abt 20*** times so far and I've never had a bad food experience. I've had sushi from a lot of other AYCE, all you can eat, sushi places and I think this one is the best in terms of quality and variety. It's about $30 per person.

The fish here tastes fresh and NOT watered down like other places I've been to. The miso soup is good here too, it doesn't taste artificial and sweet like other places.

The special rolls are a little questionable, there are a lot of special rolls that aren't my type and extremely filling but I like the sashimi and regular rolls. The salmon is good here, so I always get salmon sashimi and Alaska rolls.

They also have other foods available in their AYCE like shumai, sesame chicken, lo mein, and calamari, takoyaki, etc. Most of their non-sushi items are good too. I have some friends who don't like seafood but they still get the ayce.

ONE THING TO NOTE, if you come here with a party of 5 or more, you will be charged a 15% service fee.“

Takoyaki: The takoyaki here has improved and the inside has more squid pieces.

The fat cup: It is still delicious and really filling when you eat it.

The Staff: They are friendly here and very patient when taking the orders.

Green Apple Tea: This is a little too sweet and they could add a little more ice to eat to dilute it a little.

Spam Musubi: This was good except the rice falls apart when you try to take a bite out of it.“

They must have took our call, immediately started rolling and then brought it to our apartment because wow, that was a super fast delivery. But it was all great, salmon avocado, spicy tuna, and the yellowtail sushi pizza. Great stuff ! Order here.“

“I dined her the other night around 7 pm with a party of 7. Overall the food was excellent, service was acceptable, and the atmosphere felt comfortable. I was pleased to see the family photos in the entryway, as it gave the establishment a feeling of warmth and welcoming. The dinner menu is typical of what I’ve come to expect at any sushi restaurant, however I was surprised to see that they did not have any special roll combos as part of dinner. This did not take away from the quality of the food or the dining experience but just something that stuck out to me.“

“A group of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was empty. Before we even had a chance to order, the owner came over and asked us who we were planning to vote for. Really?? He began talking politics. We were polite but he truly put a damper on our night out. I don't care what party you support, pushing your politics on customers you don't know is offensive and bad business! Reading other reviews on Google, I see he's done this to others. “It had been a few years since we dined here. The place is still real nice, inside and quite a bit of outdoor seating and a lot of lights. Drinks were good, the croquettes were tasty, my wife wasn't crazy about the 'wedge' salad. It was more like an inch thick steak cut with a nice dressing that was all on one side. We agreed we weren't crazy about the fried onions that covered the salad. A few ok, but there were as many deep fried onions as iceberg lettuce. I wasn't starving so I had the steak tartare which was good, not great. My wife had the prime rib which has a nice table side, cart carving presentation. Unfortunately, the meat wasn't very hot. I thought it was done perfectly, but she would have liked it done a little more. When ordering she was told it came rare and it seemed like that was the rule. Eating the more well-done parts of the nice piece of meat was enough to satisfy her. She can cook the left over any way she wants. Even though we had a late reservation we never felt rushed. The service was friendly. It may not have been perfect, but it was still a nice night out!. .“

“We have been going here for our once a month dinner date for a few years now and are never dissatisfied. They are consistent, friendly to us every time, and quick! it is a BYOB establishment 30$ per person on weekends and $25 on weekdays will get you all you can eat from a menu that has salads, teriyaki choices, tempura choices, a host of apps, and all the sashimi, sushi rolls, and specialty rolls you can think of! My husband gets every appetizer on the menu but really likes the chicken teriyaki and fried shrimp dumplings. I go crazy for their shrimp and salmon sashimi and of course the classic US California roll. The few times we have not been able to finish a few pieces of sushi they have been understanding and not charged us, that being said we’ve seen many people order too much and get a charge. My main advice would be START SLOW. You can order as many times as you want and they are very quick to get the food to you. No need to start with a monster order and end up in a hole! I also recommend getting the hot tea (free refills all night) to help you eat more ! Finally if you are GF either pick up your own bottle at the nearby shoprite or bring one from your house they no longer offer GF soy sauce. My husband ops for spicy Mayo instead but you have to ask for it!“

Their traditional items were On par with some of the more reputable omakase I’ve had, truly an authentic, unadulterated sushi experience. Their more innovative offerings were fun and exciting and delicious, while still subtle and not overstated. Definitely coming back!“
