I have lived in Freehold my entire life (47 years) and not once have I been to Battleground Deli and I'm so sad about it. Today I had to go to the Post Office and decided to stop in and try it out. Battleground Deli receives the seal of approval of both me, the local, and the longtime NYC resident who moved to this town from NYC! The attitudes of the local family-run bodega you can depend on, along with the quality of the food being freshly made — sometimes even freshly chopped — is really excellent!

The only problem is at night there are no outdoor lights in the front of the very small plaza especially after they close and they close relatively early, 5pm. Not so much of a problem as the days get longer, but in the late fall n early winter would be nice if the lot where the building is located was lit in the front that way you'd know there's a deli there that way even when it's closed you'd know you could return during the day and be come a customer.
