This is a great place for lunch or dinner. No reservations taken so you have to wait. This place knows how to make bread. Their pizza was amazing! The prosciutto sandwich was more like a panini however great also! Their pastries are so flaky and fresh. The meatball appie with a dab of ricotta was outstanding. Will definitely return to try more!
I used to love getting pizza from Arturo's in Maplewood Village. Maplewood Village has several pizzerias, but Arturo's thin crust pizza was always a favorite of mine.
I was glad Arturo's was still around and visited them tonight in their new Maplewood location on Newark Street, near Hilton Branch Library and the Maplewood Police Station. The restaurant renamed Artie's has a bar with wine and fancy cocktails, and is in a much larger space....

The food was above average and the service was average. Our table of six had several appetizers: hot spinach artichoke dip, calamari, fritters and in its community bread basket, which in MHO is over- rated. Entrees ordered: pecan trout was excellent,penne with chicken was good, roast chicken was just so-so, burger was ok, rest of entrees not too memorable.
The server was professional, but not very friendly.
