I had heard of this establishment through a close friend. Prior to eating here, I had high expectations and hopes. Unbeknownst to me, they would be thoroughly exceeded beyond my wildest imagination. The service, especially from the young, Asian male with a perm, enveloped my soul with a hospitality I have not felt since parting ways with my grandmother. I felt treated not as a humble patron but rather as a dear comrade and brother-in-arms. It was as if we were battle-hardened compatriots with a steel-like bond forged in the heart of gruesome warfare. Each golden interaction was a starlit dialogue, imbued with deep-rooted fellowship and overflowing with tender care. Just when I thought the service would sufficiently satisfy me, I was presented with the food. In my younger and more vulnerable years, I traversed the bustling metropolis of the Eastern Capital on the Kanto Plane. It is grounded on this foundation that I emphatically write that the sushi I consumed at Aozora is perhaps the zenith of my culinary experience on this blue marble. While ordinarily adverse to the Americanized interpretation, I am delighted to report of superb freshness and presciently crafted combinations of ingredients. Each roll was a new adventure, a new soaring rush, fireworking forth with flavor. The crunch of the tempura, the savory splash of the sauces, the fresh rice and fish, all melted, swirled, and harmonized. Each ingredient understands its unique yet important role and executes it with utmost precision. To say that my life has been irrevocably changed would be a disingenuous understatement. In light of unstinting goodness having heretofore defined my relation to the entire Aozora dining experience, I have no further recourse but to offer my most sincere and highest recommendations and commendations to this exquisite establishment. The food was great. The shrimp tempura rolls 10/10. Friendly staff. Mentioned that one person at the table had allergies, no problem at all. Oh and the Beef Udon was spectacular, as well as the chicken fried rice.

Our favorite sushi spot in Montclair! The handrolls are generously packed with fish. The fatty yellowtail is incredibly rich and decadent. We especially love their specialty rolls, like the Sexy Girl Roll and the Out of Control Roll.

A good restaurant, cozy. We liked the sushi. There is pleasant music. Parking is paid on the street or you will have to go to a paid indoor parking lot.
Ate there last night for the first time with a friend. We had vegetable tempura and three sushi rolls. Everything was extremely fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Service was attentive but not annoying, and nobody bothered us when we stayed to talk long after we had finished our meal. The decor is delightful. And it all came at a very reasonable price. Will go back soon. Highly recommended!

The place is really nice, you can see they take care of details. The service is amazing. They even ask you if you are ready for your next dish. The food is fantastic and the portions are perfect. I would just suggest to play some louder music, it was really quiet. Our server Herbert was great!

This place was amazing! Got seated right away and felt very cared for. My water glass was always full which I really appreciated. The atmosphere of the place was wonderful! Decorated very nicely for the holidays. And of course the food was incredible! Got a couple of sushi rolls, the salmon spring rolls, edamame and mochi ice cream for dessert. Loved it all, would highly recommend this place!

I rarely eat Japanese food, but I went because my girlfriend frequents this restaurant. I am glad I did go! There were plenty of choices for me as a vegan. And everyone else enjoyed the sushi. Everything was brought to the table beautifully prepared and tasty! Our server was attentive to our needs and patiently explained everything to me as I was new to the experience. I will definitely be going back to try other dishes!
