So I was referred here by another Jamaican restaurant since I just moved to Jersey I also follow them on TikTok. The first time I came I had the fry chicken jerk chicken and side of jerk pork. Fry chicken was good but needed some sauce was super dry. The jerk chicken also needed some sauce I had to go home and make my own. The jerk pork was 10 out of 10 must try again. Loved it. However today I went an ordered the oxtail and curry chicken. The oxtail was good so I’ll be eating it alone. The curry chicken looks awesome and taste even better ima flight attendant so I definitely will be telling folks about this.

Walking into Sun Island Plate reminded me so much of the islands I forgot I’m in New Jersey. The food was cooked fresh to perfection and the drinks were delicious with no additives. We dined in and even played on the little game table just to kill time while the food was being prepared.The food serving was big and great value for money. The fish, rice and pease, cabbage, plantain and Mac & cheese were all top standard and super tasty ?.To top it off the atmosphere was off the charts. The music playing was a mix of lovers reggae and beautiful R&B. For a Sunday service it was the perfect selection as if chosen for me and my partner.The service was excellent and to top it off it’s my birthday and the owner generously gave me cakes as a gift. It’s now truly a special place and I’ll definitely visit again when I come back to New Jersey or New York.

So I placed my order on slice which was very convenient. I ordered the oxtail Rasta pasta and man when I tell you the oxtails were so tender the Rasta pasta had so much flavor. I didn’t get to take a picture because I started eating it and my stomach wouldn’t let me stop lol but this will be my new Jamaican spot because it is very hard to find Rasta pasta and a good one at that

Food is great. Salmon is my favorite, ackee and salt fish is super great. You can get boiler yam, banana and dumplin any time. This by far is the best Jamaican food I’ve eaten since being in Jersey..

My oxtails was disgusting. The oxtails itself was HARD & DRY! The rice was terrible & the cabbage was okay. & they gave me no plantains. I made an order of festivals. When I tell you my festival was hard like a rock… I have braces & I couldn’t even eat it. Garbage. I will not spend another dime here. Tasty down the street is way better!
