“Under the title “Never judge a book by it’s cover”, the Hightstown Diner delivers in a big way. I’ll admit I headed here due to a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives episode however that “chapter ” of the Hightstown is closed. Open is this new incarnation which does not disappoint.I ordered the Greek Salad and enjoyed it thoroughly. The vegetables were fresh and flavorful. The olives magnificent, the Feta was so fresh I wondered if it was house-made, the dressing sublime. Crisply toasted Pita triangles adorned the plate for a great contrast and beautiful presentation. The price could not have been fairer, the service was friendly and quick.Vegetarian options: Not a “vegan/vegetarian” menu, however the kitchen stocks a great assortment of fresh vegetables. More options to me than most.“
“Although seemingly plain on the outside with stucco plastered on its walls, it has a certain charm once you walk in. With a few counter stools, old fashion booths, upbeat workers and great service, this really is a great place to visit just for the environment. As for the food, I would recommend a specialty burger since you can't go wrong with the burger of your choice and fries. However, I wouldn't recommend the American cheese on it. And if you don't particularly like sautéed vegetables, I would shy away from the Italian hot dog. As for the drink, as long as you like ice cream, a milk shake is the right choice for you. However, don't get the orange juice, as my sister described it as tasting like dirty dish water. With some great meal options and stellar service, this place is definitely worth the visit. No one, except for the community, would know it's a hidden gem.“
“Very good breakfast and deserts, especially for people with a sweet-tooth like myself. The waitresses were friendly, even though it was a holiday. As for atmosphere, I always enjoy diners with that classic 50s/60s feeling, even if I was not alive during those times lmao. Altogether, this is a lovely eatery that I will definitely come back to in the near future.“
“Love this place. It's the one of the last classic diners in the Trenton area. Old school service with great menu choices. Awesome for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Go for regular diner food or the special. Note: the meatloaf special with gravy is always tops.“
“This place is amazing! It used to be on the main drag many years ago, but somehow it lasted over the years. It has great food and super friendly staff. We went in there and I told them that we have never been here before. The server walked us through all the items on the menu and was very friendly. On the menu they have interesting items that you would not expect at a diner. I had a cajon dish that had crab and eggs. It was great. There are a lot more options too.Inside the restaurant it is still decorated in the old 1950s style. It has cast aluminum fixtures including doors and trim along the bar. It has classic styling that has years of use, but the restaurant is still clean and in good condition. In one of my photos notice the old table top and the old plastic leather chairs from the 1950s. It is really neat to see this all still in use today.Parking: The parking lot is large and has room to turn around.“
“This is my town diner and every time we go there, the experience is great.2024.01: I just came here for an omelet, but decided to get the Jersey eggs Benedict. Essentially the Canadian bacon is swapped out for Pork roll.It was fantastic: salty, tangy and creamy. It was cooked perfectly, and at my table less than 5 minutes.I was impressed.“
“Food was delicious and plentiful. Very friendly staff and waitresses. The eggplant was fried and freshly made as a side with tomato sauce.Turkey was moist and tender, stuffing really good, gravy and cranberry sauce. We really enjoyed our meal and had to take it home , more than enough for two meals. Will be back.“
“It is what you make of it. Typical dining hall food. Not very good quality. Meat is usually dry and overcooked and the salad bar gets very repetitive and oftentimes soggy, but the soft serve ice cream machine is great. The music/radio is so loud though, makes for an unenjoyable atmosphere.“
“I've only ever gotten take out for breakfast, never dined in. First off, portions are insane for the omelet!!! You get more than your money's worth. Staff is always kind and patient. I usually get grubhub deliveries from here. And I can say they always remember who you are. It is fun to go and get food for myself. Not a grubhub pickup, and see the look on the one girl's face when she panics and sees there isn't an order. Nope just for me, I'm eating today ?“
“Food was nicely cooked and arrived hot (as both meals should have.) A delicious cup of soup was included with each lunch special. I was very disappointed when I was told that I would be charged for an iced tea refill. I wonder if they charge for a second cup of coffee with breakfast in the mornings?“
“I love New Jersey diners. Soooo much quality food for a decent price. This building is a little bit outdated but the service was immaculate. The waitress was friendly and the food was delivered quickly. I would absolutely recommend this place.“
