“They are great at breakfast. Have hot or cold sandwiches and friendly staff. I get my egg and cheese on a roll daily from here and its always on the money. Perfectly cooked. They have a km large menu. You can get omelets of any kind and lunch as well. Burger and fries etc. Got it all and foods fresh cooked on the spot. Alot of people who work around here goes to this place for lunch and breakfast.“

I’m a huge fan of local mom & pop Italian deli’s…good thing there’s a plethora of these here in Bergen County.

I perused the menu before heading over as I recently took a job not far from here and saw the description of a sandwich on their website that really jumped out to me. It was their #30 aka Arthur Ave. It consisted of chicken cutlets, topped with hot soppressata, fresh mozzarella and house made pesto on a crusty seeded Italian hero loaf.

I’m all too familiar with having gotten many a sandwich that sounded fantastic on paper but was disappointed in the end result due to either poor execution or just ingredients that didn’t pass muster. That was not the case with this sandwich. You could tell every component was high quality from the amazing chicken cutlets (which on their own are delicious), fresh house made mutz, house made pesto, high quality Soppressata to the locally sourced fresh baked bread. These combined to make an amazing sandwich and I enjoyed every bite.

Seeing the size of the sandwich, I fully expected to save half for later…yeah no chance of that happening as I killed the whole thing in one sitting. The cherry(s) on top (as seems to be the rule, not the exception at establishments of this ilk) were the awesome people/family that runs the place. Absolutely wonderful people and service with a genuine smile that reveals how much they truly enjoy what they do.

We had the Greek omelette and a Reuben melt with turkey. Both were excellent. The Greek omelette was a substantial portion filled with fresh veggies and feta cheese. The home fries were delicious. The sandwich was a good-sized serving of pastrami, melted cheese and turkey with a side of fries. The sandwich was tasty and the fries were perfectly crispy and not a bit greasy. The coffee was fresh and strong. Service was cordial and fast. This is a great casual off-the-beaten path eatery for a quick breakfast or lunch.“

This week is pesto Chicken breast, linguine in a light olive oil and onions (or maybe shallots) and sun dries tomatoes. Salad, dressing and bread.Last week was meatloaf (to die for), mashed potatoes, sautéed string beans and of course, bread and salad. It lasted me all week for lunches at work.“

Get there before 3;30 PM if you want sliced cheese because they close the slicer at 3;30. I know if I get there at 3;32 PM the slicer is off. Stocked with just about every drink you could want, I’ve reached the peak of deli ordering where I no longer have to say my order, just call and they recognize my voice and know my order. Service like this is a gem in a land that can feel easy to be lost in. Quality breakfast sandwiches, drink and sand which usually around $10 which is great for midtown. Open till 12 most days with the grill not closing. Literally everything I can ask for, owner and his brother are very nice people and always behind the grill willing to put in the work when busy.
