“I’ve had the absolute pleasure of eating here a few times and it is one of the best omakase spots in the city! The fish is so fresh and the service is impeccable. The chefs and staff really try to make it a personal experience each time. I can’t wait to go back!“

“We happened upon this gem purely by chance. We had an amazing meal from A-Z (!!!) The sushi is phenomenal; sit at the newly designed sushi bar in the back and enjoy unique daily catches that come in through the connections the owner has with local fishermen. The restaurant is also known for their aged steaks, and Kobe prime rib, which we will try next time. I had the miso black bass and it was one of the best flavors with fish I have ever had. The broth had such a delicate shiitake mushroom flavor, which I loved. I literally couldn’t have had enough of this delicate, delicious dish. I could have had two orders and eaten it all! I think this dish epitomizes what the word UMAMI means. I also had the sautéed mushroom extravaganza, a treat for every taste bud of incredible flavors melted with a delicate sauce. My husband had their unique collection of sushi and sashimi choices that were all enjoyed at their stunningly beautiful sushi bar, complete with two young, passionate chefs who love what they do, and treasure their personal designs of the fish and rolls. All the rolls are presented in this great wooden cradle design, which I thought was so unique and functional. The owner was all smiles and genuinely happy to have had us try his new restaurant. I recommend it highly for either an exceptional steak meal (all are btw, so reasonably priced so order them for sure), or the traditional sushi. You won’t be disappointed. This will be our weekly go-to restaurant and we are counting the days until we will return, which actually will be next Tuesday the 9th! Bravo to the whole team at Umami and thank you for your passion for Japanese food, and for doing it right from A-Z. We will see you soon! Debbie and Gene“

“The staff was absolutely lovely from the hostess to the server. The atmosphere was intimate, the decor throughout was very cool. The menu is very fairly priced and the food was incredible. I brought a friend here last night that was visiting from out of town, she can be a hard critic but she left happy. Thank you for such a wonderful experience! I will be back!“

“Such an amazing experience. Definitely my new favorite sushi place in Philly and my husband and I eat a lot of sushi!! The prices are amazing for the quality and amount that you receive. We sat at the sushi bar and it felt
like our own personal dining space. The chef was top notch!“

“I like their poke, it's my usual, and I would like to try their other items eventually. Their bulgogi is not my favorite as I find it blander and drier than what I like. I find that their website is not easy to use and their customer service is not great. They seem to argue or get easily frustrated. I like to get their lunch deal but it hasn't worked multiple times and they don't seem to like to honor the deal when I can't get it to work - they begrudgingly do. I'm not sure if the issue is because I have an iphone and use safari.
While waiting for my food today- I saw 3 other set of customers come in. The first came to pick up food and it sounded like one of the shop owners(?) (the woman) was rude to someone picking up telling them that they should come on time - they they've been waiting 15 minutes. The next person asked if they could drink their boba inside (they had other food with them) and they said no because there is no outside food. I understand the rule, but it seems odd to me when I've never seen the place anywhere near full. This is just my opinion, but I think having people visible in the place would be good for business. I don't think I've ever seen more than 4 people inside. I'd like them to stay in business and remain in the neighborhood but I'm uneasy about how it's not really a pleasant place to wait for my food in. I wish they would be more open and prioritize more positive experiences.“

“Fiancé and I stopped by because our other meal plans fell through. He’s had ramen before I have not. For my first experience it was absolutely fantastic! Tiny out of the way place which was cozy, sushi and sashimi were excellent and fresh, spicy miso ramen was unbelievable!! Portions were large as well so come hungry!! The young man that served us was very courteous and friendly! We will definitely be back!!!“

“Unassuming from the outside, but delicious food! Super friendly service, clean inside. Fish was fresh and all the rolls we tried were great. Great selection of raw and cooked rolls at reasonable prices. Highly recommend the sweetheart, shrimp mango, and green money rolls“

“I went to this place and had a pretty good Miso ramen meal. The noodles tasted good but were a bit mushy, not exactly how I like them. The pork wasn't as tender as usual, but the smoky, grilled fat made it taste better. The broth was okay, nice and comforting, but nothing amazing. The servers were a little slow, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. Also, if you sit by the windows in the winter, it can get really cold, so I’d recommend sitting away from the door and the street windows when it’s chilly. All in all, it’s a solid spot for ramen lovers, with tasty food and just a few things that could be better.“

“I love this place in general, it’s perfect cuisine, but the service today (05/10) was bad - they serve customers like they had a bad day and they went to work, you know. No smiles on faces. I didn’t fell like I’m a welcome guest here. It’s not a huge problem especially for me, but just letting you know so you can talk to employees and maybe help them with smth. Thank you !“

“Been searching for good japanese restaurant for quite some time. Let me just say that Mikado far exceeded our expectations. From tge appetizers to dinner, it was exceptional. Our server, Michelle, was great. We had tge seared pepper tuna sushi app - so fresh and delicious. My husband had the hibachi with filet and lobster - amazing too. My son had the combo udon noodles - ate every bite! We had the tempura banana dessert - delicious as well as the chocolate mousse cake and coppa cafe. Amy at the front desk was so gracious and sweet. We will definitely be back many times. Give this place a try - you won’t be disappointed!!!“

“The chicken bun was DELICIOUS. The chicken ramen was really yummy, but it was way too salty for me even as someone who likes salty things. I would recommend indicating the less salty option, as I could’ve done on DoorDash. The ingredients were very good, though.“

“It's one of the best authentic japanese restaurants in South Jersey! The ambienence is casual and welcoming. The staff is extremely friendly and delivered top-tier service. Takeout is available. We dined in and had the japanese cucumber salad (highly recommend if you like spicy pickle flavors), takoyaki, ma-yu (black garlic ramen), tonkotsu (fried pork) ramen and red bean mochi ice cream. The portions are generous, and ramen can be customized to accommodate your flavor preference. A perfect place for a date night or sharing a meal with friends / family.“

“I’d give 6 stars if I could. Took mom on her birthday, our first Teppanyaki hibachi experience with a chef cooking tableside, not only was food great, but both server AND the chef provided very friendly, professional, respectful, and courteous service, chef was interactive, dynamic, and added a touch of comedy during the cooking experience.
At the end, they brought dessert and sang birthday song for mom.
Just satisfied from this experience, and totally recommend to anyone to go here with friends, family, will not be disappointed.“

“Took my 5-year-old daughter for her first hibachi lunch. The chef made her feel very special. She really enjoyed the show, especially the volcano. I had the filet mignon and chicken and was barely able to eat everything. My daughter enjoyed the steak, and my wife had scallops and said that they were really well prepared. The service was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean too.All in all a fun afternoon.“

“This place has become a home of mine of Friday nights. Kevin is an excellent, skilled sushi chef and keeps positive relationships with his customers. His staff, the elder and waitresses are always professional and courteous. They work incredibly hard to make the entire experience a memorable one. I hope they recover from this recent property loss and temporary closure.“

“Went to Sakura today early afternoon before Eagles Cowboys game because all the places in Haddonfield and Cherry Hill were packed - whenever I pass Sakura on the pike it never looks crowded and that is solely because the locals utilize the drive through window which is a holdover from the previous Taco Bell - so I went in and right off the bat I was ecstatic that all their lunch specials are 7 days a week which is a big deal compared to all the other places in the vicinity -
I ordered the 3 maki roll lunch which at $13 is an insanely good deal - the tuna avocado roll is firmly packed with a generous portion of tuna and very fresh avocado - the jalapeño yellowtail roll was crispy and tastes like the fish just came out of the ocean - my third roll was shrimp tempura which was delicious and very tasty - I got their spicy sauce on the side and that was simply phenomenal - Leo and his staff are very friendly - this place is a Godsend for this part of Oaklyn - I look forward to coming back“

“My grandson and I ate here last evening for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The decor is upscale as compared to other local Asian food places, the service impeccable and we both enjoyed the food. We had a wide selection of both Japanese and Chinese food - miso soup, salad, sashimi, peppered tuna, and pork lo mein. Each dish was nicely presented, delicious and correctly timed so we weren't overwhelmed with dishes, nor did we wait for food. Our server was helpful, very pleasant and attentive but not overly attentive, if you know what I mean.
We will definitely be back!“

“We came on a whim, and were blown away by the sushi. The miso butter cod and the eel signature rolls in particular were excellent, but everything we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. Will be back next time we’re in town.
Vegetarian options: The vegetarian portion of the menu is comparatively small, but the options look tasty“

“My girlfriend really likes this place and finally was able to convince me to have dinner there.
The dinner boxes with salad, sushi, beef/chicken, rice and a miso soup are really good and can be highly recommended.
The Boba tea is so delicious.
Atmosphere is really nice - I mean what else do you expect from downtown Haddonfield.
For sure we’ll be back.“

“Excellent Ramen. Staff gets you taken care of quickly. Food comes out before you even have a moment to think (not a bad thing). Restaurant plays music that's not too loud but allows you to have a conversation and not be overhead by other tables. Cash only is annoying, so come prepared.“

“The crepes and teas were both delicious, and I would definitely go back for the food. The restaurant itself was a bit dingy. A roach did fall from the ceiling at one point near the table I was sitting at, but again the food was worth it. For all that I'll give it a Monty Mole Nice!“

“On a whim we ate at Koto Sushi for the first time and I can't wait to go back. Prices are more than reasonable and the food is solidly tasty. (their tempura batter is so light and fluffy. nice and crisp!) The true highlight of this place is how kind the staff is. Our server was perfect- attentive and friendly. Chef J.J stopped by the table to introduced himself. Also extremely kind! I'm excited to make this a regular stop of mine.“

“Sarku sits right next to Chic-Fil-A in the Deptford Mall food court, and gives it a run for its money, which ain't an easy task. Every single Chic-Fil-A you pull up to in the Tri-state area is jam packed to such a degree that you start to suspect they might be puttin a little somethin extra in their chicken patties than just hormone-laden poultry. But anywho, at Sarku I slid some succulent shrimps down my throat, and the chicken, vegetables, and fried rice that came with it also titillated my sophisticated palate. They cook it right in front of ya so you know they're not droppin it on the kitchen floor somewhere in back and slappin it on your styrofoam tray after callin the 5-second-rule. I was feelin particularly ravenous that day so I ordered some of their dumplings too, and they ain't half bad. I wouldn't recommend the beef teriyaki though, which I got on a previous excursion, cus I wasn't all that impressed. Overall I think that if you're startin to grow suspicious that chic-fil-a sprinkles a not so legal extremely addictive white powdery substance that was popular in the 80's into their chicken patties and you're lookin' for an alternative, then I think you oughta give little Sarku Japan next door a try. Dunno how closely it resembles anything people in Japan actually eat, but at least it tastes like its been made with a little bit of love. Or this whole review was an exaggeration and I let my lust for fried rice overcome me and skew my perception of reality. You decide.“

“Hewa is the restaurant where my love for sushi started. It is a great value with a wide variety and is a staple dinner option at my house. However after eating sushi from several other restaurants I have to unfortunately say, it is not the best. Don't get me wrong it's still really good and sometimes I just need a good heeling of Hewa, but it's the variety that allows Hewav to excel not necessarily the quality. That being said they are the best of the middle, only being beat by higher end swanky sushi places. Everyone should go here for the every day sushi or Chinese, it is just a solid meal everytime.“
