“What a charming little restaurant! I sat at the bar on a work trip for an early dinner, which they actually have a menu for! Prices are reasonable for the city, and 4-6 is happy hour so I came at the right time for great prices and drinks and appetizers. Would definitely recommend! Plus this is walking distance to many nice hotels downtown. Only 5 min walk from the Kimpton Palomar! Would recommend calling ahead to ensure availability.“

“Cook and Shaker is a cozy corner bar that just reopened after renovations!

The bar was huge with nice ambient lighting. There were also lots of high tops around the restaurant, plenty of seating in an open space.

One of the bartenders, Tori, gave us samples of their espresso martini which was SO delicious. One of the best I’ve had in Philly. Highly recommend.

For food, we got the cook and shaker salad, popcorn chicken and their special of the night which was a pizza steak sandwich with vodka sauce. The salad was fresh and delicious, the croutons seemed homemade (the best). The popcorn chicken was heavily breaded which I personally like, but my friend wasn’t a fan. If you like crispy small pieces of chicken, you’ll enjoy these.

We were unfortunately not a fan of the pizza steak sandwich. We got it because of the vodka sauce, but we couldn’t taste that at all. We swapped it for a grilled cheese, which was just okay.

Overall, we loved the atmosphere, espresso martini and some of the food. I will definitely come back in the future to try more things!“

“Treated ourselves to this place we saw on diners driveins and dives after shoveling a whole bunch of snow. The atmosphere is great, packed especially for a winter storm day. There were only three servers and one of them had to bartend as well, but food and drink came super fast. They are doing the best they can!

Got their brunch special with duck (which is absolutely delicious), a veggie burger, French onion soup (urgently needed in this weather), 1 cocktail and 2 desserts. Total came up to $77 before tax and tips. Great deal. Totally worth walking half an hour in 20 inches of snow for.“

“Was there last night for early dinner and stayed to see the Eagles first TD. Food was fresh and extremely tasty. The vibe here is great. The service was excellent. Our server, Max, was very personable and gives very good recommendations. Max is not the only server like this. It seems to be the culture there. They have a lot of loyal customers. When we left the was a couple looking for a place to eat and watch the game. I quickly recommended Glory. If in Old City and near Chestnut and 2nd give them a try. You won’t be disappointed.“

The green beans and rice were delicious as was the potatoes and spinach. Prices were very reasonable as well. Highly recommend this place and we will be back. “We stumbled into this wonderful place cold, hungry and exhausted. The wonderful lady at the door, who turns out to be the owner, welcomed us with open arms and began to search for a table. We had to wait a few minutes so she got us 2 stools to sit on while we ordered our beer. Minutes later our table was ready! We ordered the Guinness Casserole and left nothing on that plate! She came over to check on us and saw that we had no soda bread and got us a plate full. We boxed a few pieces to take back with us to enjoy at breakfast. As we left we thanked her and I told her that everything was FANTASTIC and showed her the bread we were going to take home! She then took the box and filled it for us so we had enough for long drive home! I will come back anytime I'm in Philly. I have told all my friends and family to come here. It is a wonderful place. “Stopped here this past weekend and got some of the most delicious sandwiches! Started with the Tuna Tartare which was phenomenal and each had a sandwich for dinner. “My cousin and I were looking for a spot that was in between my suburban Philly home & her S.Jersey location. We asked Google for a great restaurant in Fishtown & they sent us here. WAY TO GO GOOGLE!! We shared 2 incredibly yummy & imaginative sandwiches (a phenomenal crabcake & a grilled goat cheese). “I held my husband’s 30th birthday at Cav’s and it was excellent! Mike the manager communicated well and the booking process was simple. I looked into several places in the city to have this party and Cav’s by far had the most reasonable prices for open bar and food. We got the whole upstairs to ourselves and it was a great size for 30 people but definitely could accommodate more comfortably!

Our guests loved all of the food!! The wings were particularly good and Cav’s gave us plenty so we had enough to take home after. Also, the open bar was a hit. The bartenders were extremely accommodating to our guests requests and always ready to fill their drinks. Special shout out to Courtney specifically!! She was excellent!! My guests loved her. She remembered everyone’s drink orders and had an awesome attitude the entire time.
