My family and I stopped in here for a pre-show meal. The atmosphere was very nice, and the menu provided a decent amount of choice - for both sushi and non-sushi lovers.
If you like having a window seat when dining downtown, you shouldn't have any trouble getting a nice view here. The restaurant doesn't seem overly crowded or busy even during supper hours, which leaves plenty of seating options available. I appreciate that they have an entire page for vegetarian items; this leaves even more selection for anyone who doesn't have dietary restrictions or preferences.
The service was also quite good in terms of speed. We were quick to be seated and quick to be served; however, it kind of seemed lackluster or more toward average compared to other restaurants I've been. There wasn't anything really memorable or outstanding with the service, but that's okay.
If you like sushi, you definitely won't be disappointed in Sun Sushi as a place to enjoy a meal. The prices have gone up, but the rolls can be quite large and you get some quality rolls for the money you'll spend.

Pretty good quality food I must say. Service is average nothing special. Lots of different options. The yam tempura stood out. Pricing is quite reasonable.
If I’m ever in Newfoundland, definitely will stop by.

Highly recommend Sun Sushi for a delicious and satisfying meal, for a great price.
The presentation was lovely, and the flavours were SO tasty!
For rolls, we had the Veggie Explosion and Duckworth (pictured) and both were great. Portions were much larger than anticipated.
Teriyaki chicken entree came out sizzling on the skillet and was full of flavour. Also had the garden salad and mixed tempura - both fantastic. Service was great, and it was nice and quiet. A wonderful gem to come across on a Friday night.

Although we were seated fairly, we waited over an hour for our food, and saw at least 2 parties seated after us get their food before ours. We also weren’t offered any beverages during the wait for our meals.

Not authentic Japanese but pretty decent sushi for Canadian standards. Friendly staff. Well put together rolls. Tempura was quite good although not served with grated dikon in dipping sauce. Thick sliced sashimi. Good and would be back when in St john's!
