This is the most amazing place to get New Mexican food! Great family establishment and friendly staff. Totally worth going out of your way (if you have to) for breakfast or lunch while visiting Albuquerque or Santa Fe
Such a comfortable environment, good service and definitely good food...red and green Christmas chili is a must.❤️. Worth the drive from Albuquerque... i love looking at the pictures on the walls, they represent memories.

Abuelita's New Mexican Kitchen Bernalillo offers a warm and cozy dining experience with friendly staff and delicious food. The restaurant feels like eating at someone's house, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The service is consistently praised for being friendly, genuine, and attentive, making guests feel comfortable and appreciated.
The menu features a variety of traditional New Mexican dishes. The green chile enchiladas are highly recommended for their perfect level of heat, and the sopapillas are described as light, fluffy, and not greasy—ideal for a satisfying ending to the meal. The shredded chicken enchiladas also receive high praise, while the tamales are noted to have a good amount of meat and be delicious. However, some guests mention that the rice isn't the best, and one person found the chicken in the chicken flautas lacking flavor. The tacopilla with green chile is enjoyed by some, with a mention that red chile can be milder and more suitable for those sensitive to heat. Several reviews highlight the salsa as homemade and flavorful, with a nice kick.
Overall, Abuelita's is celebrated for its great food, especially the green chili, sopapillas, and traditional dishes, combined with exceptional service. It’s a perfect spot to explore real New Mexican cuisine in a cozy setting, making it a recommended choice for anyone seeking hearty, flavorful meals and friendly hospitality.
