“We needed a longer stop on our road trip so decided to skip the usual fast food and selected Route 66 Railway Cafe based on the reviews; in particular that they were quick and the reviews didn’t let us down. This is definitely a reliable old fashion diner with plenty of comfort food choices. And, clearly the locals regular place. Customers treating each other warmly with a handshake or hug and sometimes with quick chat to catch up.All of the staff welcome you, keep the tables cleared and clean. Food is fast, but not Just the usual fast food. Today was a cloudy/wintery day so even better that we found a place with comfort food. I had a Grilled Ham & Cheese sandwich with Sweet Potato Waffle fries and my husband had the Hot Beef Sandwich which was opened face and served with mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. There is a large enough menu to find what will satisfy your stomach. We finished our lunch with a hot peach cobbler. Yummy! We travel through this area 3-4 times a year and wouldn’t hesitate to stop back in. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend stopping in for a bite to eat.“
“When I'm coming from the state line into Gallup, I love stopping here and grabbing donuts and coffee. All the treats they have are really good, fresh and made in their shop. The owner is very sociable and nice and so is the staff. Thanks Westend, I'll keep recommending people your way! Travisps. You have to try the cherry frosted donut, so good.“
“This restaurant has been in business a long time and for a good reason! The owner and staff really know how to run their business. All the food I've tried is very good. The owner was friendly and walking around greeting our table and everyone else's. Visit this iconic stop on Historic Route 66 the next time you are in Gallup NM.Parking: I've never had a problem finding a parking spot.“
“The other reviews don't lie! Had the Combination plate and the green chili is out of this world! Legit spicy and delicious. Crispy beef taco, cheese and onion enchilada and beef tamale were incredible. Definitely adding to the road trip restaurant list for a return visit!“
“At Angela’s Cafe, everyone is treated like a local. The staff here are genuine, friendly and attentive. Sitting at the counter gave us the opportunity to really admire the decorations and read all the hilarious signs.Notable eats: The tuna salad salad. It was recommended to have it with the Greek salad which is a winner. We modified the roast beef sandwich by adding bacon, swiss and New Mexico style green chile on ciabatta. M o u t h watering, softest ciabatta out there.Angela’s Cafe. Karen approved.“
“As far as we are concerned, the food and service are 5 star!! If that isn't enough, they have a huge salt water aquarium filled with beautiful soft coral and stunning fish and eels! Truly a unique place. We will hit this place again on our way back through on I 25.“
“Hometown type dinner. Not fancy, but the burgers were great. Service was lackluster. Waited for a long time for a drink refill and never got it, even after requesting it. I get that the place was busy, but that you’d think they would put more effort for the tip. Maybe we went on a bad day, who knows. All in all, I’d go again for the food… but I’ll bring a water bottle just in case.“
“The hostess checking me in remembered my party member who came before me and asked if it was she I was looking for, and directed me to the right table.OJ our server was friendly, efficient and professional. She kept my coffee topped off and asked how we were doing the right number of times, which added to a great eating experience. The food was great. I had Momma's Pancakes and it was delicious. The coffee was robust and I enjoyed it.The cashier was friendly and told me all about the rewards program that Cracker Barrel has and signed me up.I need to come to Cracker Barrel more often. Keep up the great customer service and making delicious food.“
“What a treat to dine at the historic El Rancho Hotel. The movie history and atmosphere were great. The food was delicious and reasonably priced with friendly service. Will definitely come back.Dietary restrictions: The staff were accommodating to my food allergy.“
“Stopped by on a road trip because we'd never tried fry bread before. The staff were very friendly and gave us some recommendations of what to try. The frybread, lamb, and blackened peppers were amazing! I'm normally not a cooked pepper fan but theirs were the perfect texture- I may have to drive all the way from Minnesota to try this place again!“
“Wow! It’s rare that you can find a spot such as Avalon, being my first time here I was hesitant. As the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover rings true here.Having a simple menu that don’t have you stress trying to figure out what to get (being an indecisive person this awesome), the fast service made the visit even more great. My parents usually don’t like eating out in Gallup due to vendors coming every minute as your mouth has food in your mouth, Avalon’s no vendor policy allowed for a more private and eased meal.“
“Room was clean and beds are comfortable. Check in was smooth. We had dinner at the bar, which opened at 5 pm. Desiree was amazing; she was working alone and not only provided great service to us but also handled a large wedding that created a rush at the bar. One note to management: this bartender needed additional support. It was disappointed to see one staff member (I believe his name is Quentin) standing around on his phone and not helping when a large crowd appeared.“
“We wanted to stop somewhere local while passing through New Mexico and stumbled across this little gem! Everything made fresh from scratch and honestly some of the best enchiladas, tamales and Mexican food we e had anywhere! Great atmosphere and impeccably clean. They have a nice varied menu to choose from but those tamales…. Wow!!“
