The end of August they were closed for a week or two, from time to time they take time for the company to vacation or take the time for them to do as they wish. Luckily we returned on the second of September when they reopened. The food was still amazing & still the go-to place for my family when we are looking for a great place to eat when we visit the Gallup area.

We ordered the tegusta (red) & stuffed sopapilla (red) & for an appetizer we got the chili cheese fries (green). The tegusta comes with a soup or salad & we always get the vegetable soup as that is my son’s favorite. If we came for dinner then we would have ordered a kids taco for him, but the soup was plenty.

We get red on our meals as the green is a tad hot for us, but the green pairs nicely on fries & we don’t mind the heat on our appetizers.

Across the street they have additional parking available. Before we use to park in the free parking lot down the street or if we got lucky would find a spot on the street next to the restaurant. But on weekends it can be challenging to get a spot up front. That is why we enjoy parking across the street.

We still talk about this place 2 years after our visit! Realized I never did review it and thought - it’s never too late! Really Amazing food and great service. Some of the best food in New Mexico. ❤️ it and want to go back some day when we are traveling through there again.

Nestled along historic Route 66 on West Coal Ave, Jerry’s Cafe feels like stepping into an old-school New Mexico diner — comfy booths, neon signage, and the unmistakable aroma of green chile simmering in the kitchen.

The place gets crowded so get there in time for lunch and/or dinner.

The staff is superb and genuinely friendly.

One of the top spots in Gallup!!!

This place is absolutely delicious! I have been craving REAL New Mexican food and you can really only get true NM food in NM. I was so worried I would be disappointed but let me tell you what.... This place knocks it out of the park! I got red chile enchiladas 🌶️ they had great flavor and just enough spice. I can't stand when you get a =Ed Chile with no bite at all .. it's just not okay! The beans and rice were fantastic. I got a hard shell taco and I would recommend the soft. That's soft tortilla will help for edible utensils. (If you know you know) We also got the green Chile chicken enchilada and they were b{mv as well. The sopapillas were perfect so I would highly recommend this place. I don't live in NM anymore so when I am in NM I don't want to be disappointed. Thank you Dani for the great service.
Sorry also the service was very fast. This is a small sit down old school style dinner. Large parties are going to be hard for them to accommodate. But I went and we were a party of 2 and sat immediately. Get a phone order for a large party because you don't want to pass this up.

The food and service was exceptional! We stopped for breakfast and were surprised by the beautiful artwork along the downtown area. The dinner was quaint with lots of servers constantly refilling your drinks - very attentive! We ordered the breakfast sopapilla which was so so so good! Crispy bacon, eggs, green chilies and perfectly-cooked hash browns inside a warm sopapilla- DELIGHTFUL! Can’t wait to come again!!

This time around, to many flies, gross, I asked what can be done about it and was told nothing. I was busy keeping the flow off our food.
