“Little gem in a small town. Hotel desk recommended this place. We were wanting an Indian Taco and called ahead to check since I couldn’t find an online menu. We were immediately greeted upon arrival and with 10 seconds of sitting down, our waitress was at our table! This restaurant has a family atmosphere and has kept true to the definition of what great service truly is!! We didn’t know that the Indian taco is not on the menu, but they were happy to make it. Delicious!! The green chile was phenomenal!! We enjoyed our dinner very much. Thank you!“

“I have commented some years before about this place. The Menudo then was out of this world but with the changings that have happened, the taste is not there as before. The fullness of the flavor is weak. The times that I have been there, the beef tripe is hardly in the servings, very small pieces. The price you pay for is more for the posole. I hate to say but as being a cook myself, the cook that was there before made it really good compared to now. The service is good thought.“

“Omgosh, the breakfast here. My tamale was fresh made, perfect sauce and tortillas...so much food. My nephew had the Dora plate, the steak was tasty and tender, eggs perfect. The service by Rudy was also top notch. We want to try dinner here. Yummy!!!“

“Moving back from Phoenix, and Back to the Navajo Nation my husband and I enjoyed this place. My husband is Mexican and BOY he enjoyed this real Mexican food place in Gallup, NM. We ate at several places before, and it did not make top of our list. When we ate here yesterday the Salsa was so good and very hott. I give this place a 10/10 and recommend this place. Very affordable, and staff is nice I'ma be going back again =) for sure.“

“We are happy we found this little local jewel before we left New Mexico. Corazon contenta- memories of my Mom. She grew up in New Mexico so flour tortillas and beans with red sauce were always something we had growing up. ❤️❤️❤️“

“Cute place, and very quick! We stopped here for lunch while passing through Gallup, and it is an institution to the area. It was very busy when we got there, as it was lunch time on a Saturday. Most tables were full, with a line forming by the time we were leaving. It's right off the highway, so it's an easy and convenient stop, and they have a handle on getting people in and out quickly.
My husband got a sort of open face chili burger and I got a cheeseburger. My husband thought his food was great and got maybe halfway through it, good portion size. My burger was pretty basic. It kind of reminded me of the burger you'd get at a big family bbq, grilled patty, standard toppings, nothing fancy. Not bad at all, just simple, and does the trick. Our waiter, Dean, was wonderful! Friendly, attentive, and quick. Drinks came quickly, food came not long after ordering, and we never needed anything. The vibe inside is very classic diner, casual and welcoming.
They do also incorporate a Native American market, so artists and vendors walk from table to table selling jewelry and art. It's a really unique experience, I wasn't expecting it, but it felt like we were experiencing local culture.“

“After a wild hangover, I went to the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon and ordered a large menudo but they were out, however, they made me a new batch from scratch and it was delicious. Some restaurants just say they are out and that’s it. La Carreta apologized for the wait to get it done but I didn’t mind one bit and enjoyed the chips and salsa in the meantime. That was excellent customer service. The food is exquisite. Try it out if you get a chance.“

“Came here for the Navajo taco, left with a happy tummy and a happy tot. She and the husband had the taquitos, I had the Navajo taco. Rewarded the kiddo with the chocolate sopapilla sticks and those suckers are NOT small. It took the 3 of us to finish them.Anyway, great food, great prices, and sweethearts working the counter and kitchen. This is my go to food place when we are traveling through Gallup now.
Vegetarian options: They list the bean options on the menu“

“Clean. Someone was at the counter right away and they didn't have an attitude. That was a nice change from the Taco bells in Santa Fe. And not only that, the tacos were a lot more full with stuff than the ones in Santa Fe so I can see. Although I'm not a big fan of Gallup in general, their Taco Bell seemed a lot cooler.“

“Its a taco bell. Lady was nice and courteous at the drive up window. Not knocking the taco bell, but $2 for a soft taco...starting to remind me of Demolition Man where taco bell was fine dining...except it isn't...just fine dining prices!! 5 stars across the board because the lady smiled and said thank you. A very rare thing in Gallup!!“

“Our server, Mary was friendly, engaging and very attentive. Her recommendations were spot on. During our time there, at least 3 other servers came to check on us as well. Food was plentiful and delicious. The Stuffed Soapilla and Fajitas were the best! Highly recommend, tell Mary we sent you!!“
