Village Inn offers a classic diner atmosphere with a mix of experiences. The food receives strong praise in some areas, with specific highlights being the very good club sandwich, super fluffy pancakes, delicious green chili, fantastic Belgian waffle, strawberry crepe, and pretty good biscuits. The pies are a noted attraction, with recommendations to take a slice to go, and the peanut butter cup pie is considered pretty good. Prices are also viewed as fantastic.
However, consistency is an issue. Several dishes are criticized, including horrible french fries, a bland patty melt, chicken fried chicken with a burnt taste, mashed potatoes with a weird flavor, and overly gelatinous clam chowder and lemon meringue pie. Service is uneven, described as both good and awful, with reports of very slow staff, long waits to be seated, ignored customers, and incorrect orders. The restaurant environment can be uncomfortably cold. While some find it a friendly place with super delicious food, others report significant disappointments and would not return.
