“Made it out to Rio Grande to try out their wings and other things, we've been hearing good reviews from others. We were not disappointed!! The parking looks bad from the street but there's some behind the building. We ordered wings, spinach artichoke dip, fish & chips and finished it off w a carrot cake. Also ordered drinks; root beer and the hard tea.The wings were fantastic! Perfectly crispy and not too saucy. We ordered 2 orders of 6 so we could try both the spicy boq and the honey sriracha sauces. They were not too spicy or too sweet, a very good blend of the flavors. The carrot cake was devine!! The best cake we have had in Ruidoso so far! Our server actually recommended the cake to us and I'm very glad he did!The spinach artichoke dip was okay, I wouldn't order it again. It was a little too cheesy and more spinach than artichoke and was lacking flavor. The fish & chips were alright, again I wouldn't order them a second time. A little too much batter on the fish and the tartar sauce was bland and the coleslaw was watery. The chips were perfect though!! Best fry I've had around Ruidoso so far!The root beer was delicious and their hard tea was pretty good, we were offered a chance to buy some to-go which was cool. The restaurant is really cozy too, all wood and warmth, and the tables are located upstairs. That was nice bc you can be away from the bar area to enjoy your meal w a more restaurant feel upstairs.Definitely recommend and we look forward to going back to try some burgers and steak!Parking: Not many spaces in front of restaurant but there are spaces in back“
“First time eating here and it was pretty good! The tacos had so much meat to divide into the 4 tacos, the salsa was very flavorful, good texture on the rice and the beans were good. They gave me 3 different salsas for the tacos and I liked all 3 but the orange colored one was my favorite. Great portion of food w the mini taco plate and the chips & salsa were good!! I look forward to trying more itemsI didn't visit the actual restaurant I ordered this meal through DoorDash. This all traveled very well!!“
“We arrived late, minutes away from closing time. The staff made no indication that they were closing soon and were very accommodating. McKenna was our server and she was very sweet and extremely helpful. I ordered a dish that they were not offering anymore and the kitchen still made it with a slightly different protein. It was excellent. My wife ordered the French Onion soup and it was the best she ever had. Her wedge salad was also spot on with fresh crispy iceberg and excellent dressing and toppings. We were extremely pleased and highly recommend The Rancher. We will be back!“
“Highly recommend this place. We stopped in Ruidoso during off-season, we are TX natives (as many in Ruidoso are) but live in CO now. This food was incredible. My boyfriend is from Mexico and he felt that it was very authentic. The enchiladas with a fried egg on top were amazing. We ate here like 3 times in 5 days, could not stay away lol. I do wish chips & salsa had been included and not an additional charge. Otherwise awesome place.“
“The place is quite nice and feels very homey. The lady who serves is very friendly and helpful. You can look at the menu online by scanning the QR code when you enter or request the menu on paper. There is a children's menu.It took them 10 minutes max to serve us, which I think is excellent. The food is very filling and delicious. When we left, the lady told us that we could fill our spleens without any soft drink.I totally recommend it 100%.Parking: The direct parking is a little small but it is shared with the hotel next door, so don't worry.Kid-friendliness: It has a children's menu, don't worry.Wheelchair accessibility: There is no problem if you come in a wheelchair.“
“Freshly arrived in Ruidoso for the weekend, as always we greatly rely on reviews from others. Most restaurants in the area were a real mixed bag going from 5 stars to 1 stars in the same week. I opted for Grill Caliente. It showed an interesting menu and had a full bar and a few craft beers. As suggested by the website, I called for a reservation and was assured that they weren't needed. The town on a Thursday night seemed very quiet. We arrived around 6:45pm. Upon our arrival the restaurant had several tables, but obviously not very busy. The sign at the hostess stand said to wait to be seated and it didn't take long for an older gentleman to show up. My wife who's a bit more outgoing than I am, threw in a cheerful good evening. The host, which I strongly believed was the owner, looked at us, looked at his watch, and without saying a single word grabbed 2 menus and showed us to a table. We were obviously disturbing a quiet night- my wife and I looked at each other and wondered if we had mistaken 6:45pm for a much later time. I contemplated just leaving - and then what? Where were we going to eat? We sat down, and started looking at the menu. Within a few minutes our server Ezra showed up and made up for that first bad impression. She was gracious, polite, and extremely effective. I started out with their house salad - greens, with several nice slices of tomatoes, grilled purple onions, and my choice of dressing - a chipotle ranch which was obviously house made. We followed with 2 burgers. Both were gigantic, cooked to perfection and a nice size of house French fries. Overall a great dinner and pleasant service. On the way out, the owner thank us and wished us goodnight. We had obviously came in at a bad time. I'm happy that we decided to stay to enjoy this great meal. First impressions can be deceptive, but are so important. We will surely be back if we return in the area.“
“Their potato skins were great.I asked for medium rare and I got medium well on my steak. The baked potato was fully loaded and I enjoyed it.My granddaughter asked for well done on her steak and got a lot of pink in it.My son said is hamburger was good and juicy.Their creme brulee for the price was super plain, no fruits on it at all, and too much sugar which made it super sweet on the top.“
“I’ve eaten here twice, this year and last year aswell and both times the service was great and food was amazing, I got the chicken salad croissant and the tomato basil soup last year and it was perfect this year only thing changed was I got a mushroom crab soup and that was something I’ve never even tried it was so creamy and delicious and my favorite desserts are their blueberry cobbler cheesecake I got both last year and this year and I tried their buttermilk pie and it was so rich I ate it for dessert and breakfast and their portions are plentiful too. I love this place and their vibe and will be back in the future ?❤️Parking: Small walk across or down the street“
