Had a terrific stay here - the staff was incredibly nice and helpful with local suggestions and activities, and the overall atmosphere of the complex was enchanting. The overall design of the hotel grounds was truly amazing to walk around in, and the room had perfect "Santa Fe" decor Relaxing by the fireplace at night and enjoying the sunrise on the patio with coffee the next morning was the perfect respite from an otherwise busy trip. Even with what seemed to be a fairly busy weekend it often felt like we had the place to ourselves and we didn't hear a peep at night in our room. Bishop's Lodge was a wonderful experience and will be staying here again for my next Santa Fe trip.

I could eat there every night. Our waitperson, Melissa was the absolute best!

Auberge is among the finest hotel companies in the world: they are known to have superior properties and offer their guests unique experiences, which is why I am genuinely shocked and disappointed with my stay at the new Bishop's Lodge. 1. First off, when I reached out to their team to inquire about setting up some of the unique experiences they list online, I was told I would have to wait until I arrived at the lodge to book. However, on arrival, I was told the experiences were unavailable on such short notice, and that I needed to book them in advance. Confused, I reached out to the manager who ultimately informed me that the experiences are currently not offered, but they are planning to offer them in the near future--this detail is neither listed on their site nor was it communicated prior to the booking. 2. The fireplace in the 1,600 / night room did not work, and the electricity was wired in such a way that all lights had to be on or off at once. They did fix the fireplace, but only after multiple requests. 3. Jacuzzi jets were not functioning. 4. As a previous reviewer mentioned, coffee cups do not fit in the Nespresso machine that is tucked away in a dark cabinet, and room service leaves dirty dishes in the rooms. I feel that their focus is not on delivering the quality experience that Auberge is known for, but Bishop's Lodge is attempting to rush through Phase 1 of their opening to book rooms / make money at the sacrifice of their guest's satisfaction and overall experience. In the end, the staff kindly listened to the concerns and offered a refund for the rest of the stay. After leaving Bishop's Lodge, the rest of the vacation was spent at the Four Seasons Santa Fe, where they were able to accommodate spa treatments, tours / activities, and, for roughly the same cost, offered a room that was greater than double the size of the Auberge room and had two wood burning fireplaces. I understand that the experience at each Auberge destination varies from the next, and that Bishop's Lodge is still under development, but I would argue that Santa Fe's only 5 star resort that is truly committed to their guest's experience, premiere luxury, and superior customer service is the Four Seasons Rancho Encantado Santa Fe.

It is a gorgeous property being meticulously renovated by Auberge Resorts. We had a fantastic family holiday. Our casitas were beautifully appointed, the food was delicious and the staff was kind, thoughtful and accommodating. My family and I can’t wait to return.

We were there for a large wedding last week and sadly, this place fell short in many ways. Clearly they are on a path to greatness and will get there. And I have a strong feeling our experience was an anomaly, but nonetheless it was a disappointment. Starting when we were delivered to our room in the Silver Pines area (a bit of a hike to the pool), the bellman gave us a quick review of the room, went to turn on the fireplace and it didn't work. Not to worry, he says, he will have someone right in to take a look at it. And that happened as promised but they were not able to light the pilot. Maintenance asked if we were heading out to dinner so they could come back. We went to dinner, returned and the fireplace still wasn't working. Also, there is a wonderful gas fireplace outside, but it was still in pieces and bags. A call to the front desk revealed that the outdoor fireplace would not be built during our stay and the indoor fireplace could not be repaired. The room itself was great but some odd choices have been made by the designers. Lighting is just horrible, made worse given that one of the two lamps didn't have a bulb. A call to the front desk addressed that. Our room had a nespresso coffee maker (which is a wonderful touch) but it's in a dark cabinet with no lights. Their remedy? There is a flashlight next to the machine to use when making coffee. Great solution if (a) the flashlight isn't taken as a parting gift by guests and (b) housekeeping is prepared to check the batteries daily. Provided coffee cups didn't fit under the nespresso so the drip tray had to be removed and coffee goes everywhere. I'll give the cabinet six months before it is completely ruined and has to be replaced. We enjoyed a great room service bottle of wine and some snacks on the patio our first night. The view is astounding. The next morning housekeeping placed our dishes and wine bottle/bucket outside our front door and there it sat for the next three days. I wonder how many employees walked past this mess without picking it up. The website shows on property hiking trails. Nope, none of them are open save for one that is so poorly marked we would need to be driven there on a golf cart. We passed. So, we're in our dark room, with no working fireplace(s), coffee spilled all over the one wardrobe, and I call the manager on duty to ask why they are accepting guests when they are clearly not ready, at least in the Silver Pine section. The response was we were given a discount from what I understand is nearly $1K per night to just over half. This was never part of any struck deal. Another manager calls later and offers one future night's booking for free. I replied I don't want to be forced to return, but they should consider adjusting our $500 per night fee. The manager said they would call back but never did. Now to be fair, the manager may have left a message. The message light was blinking on the phone. There were no instructions on how to retrieve messages but I'm pretty clever and finally did access the in-room voice mail. But it asked for a password and the most obvious ones didn't work. I called the from desk and they had no clue how the voice mail system worked and frankly seemed surprised they had one. There is an in-room safe. But it sits floating in the bottom drawer of the one wardrobe, unattached to anything at all. Really, just a shoebox sized metal box offering no security. This property may one day be great. The bones are there and the landscape is amazing but I just honestly feel taken advantage of. Maybe it was just the luck of the draw and we were parked in a section management knows isn't ready for guests. Some of the support staff are rock stars, the management, not so much. So here's the message - if you stay here, make sure you are booked in the completed section. Bring your own flashlight to make coffee in case your in-room high tech illumination device is missing, buss your own room service dishes, expect to be ignored by the manager on duty, carry you

My wife and I went up to see the new facilities on Sunday, just to get an idea of what changes they had made. Disappointed might be the word. At 3:00 pm there was still trash (beer cans, paper products, flowers, etc) from a wedding the pervious night. The bartender didn’t know how to mix a martini and my margarita was all of 3 oz considered the price at $22 each and we decided this place was not for us. Maybe the trash and the unwelcoming bar staff but we won’t be going back.

Stayed July 2 to July 6 - Two rooms (Sunset Suite #5) and the Lodge House. Note, this will be one of the best places to stay in the entire southwest once everything is completed. Full disclosure - we stayed 1 day after the resort opened and they still have work to do on the place. There were no experiences available at the resort and less than 50% of the rooms and facilities were available. However, they were making amazing progress in just the four days we were there. What was open (pool and skyfire restaurant) were top notch. Very quiet and peaceful pool with relaxing music and very good cocktails. The resturant is very good and the menu was created by Dean Fearing (La Mansion at Turtle Creek in Dallas). Everything is very good and cocktails are equally amazing. Had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant as it was the only one open. When we were there they did not have a gym, spa, second restaurant, gift shop, experiences, horses to ride and still a lot of construction. However, if the pool and Skyfire are any indication of the potential - this will not disappoint. Staff - Let's start with the staff - THE BEST. They were put in a very hard circumstance to open a high end hotel with less than 50% of the ammenities available. They were accomidating, friendly, personable and took everything in stride. The staff is what really made the place. The manager John and front desk manager Robert, bent over backwards to answer questions and help. They were totally transperant on what would be available and what would not before we go there. The front greeters (Brandon, Ronnie Ray, Eddie and Kyle (?)) are superstars - they did it all and you felt very welcome every time you interacted with them. Rooms - We stayed in the Lodge (2 bed room/2.5 bath) house - I cannot recommend this room enough. There were two full bedrooms on both sides and a center gathering room (huge) with full seating area, dining room table for 8 and full bar - perfect place to have all the rest of our family meet each night for a drink before heading out to dinner in town. You will be shocked at the size and build out of the lodge. Our kids stayed in Sunset suite #5 and it is very large and very accommodating with a front porch to watch the sunset over the grounds. We will be back next year when the place is fully put together but even with it partially done, you will be impressed. The location to town (10 min max) and close to the Tesuque Market makes this the ideal spot to put this resort. Staff - Have to start with the

The property reopened on July 1st after a six year closure. We stayed in a Chapel one-bedroom suite from July 3rd through July 7th. The property is magnificent and will only continue to become more so as the landscaping matures. The public spaces are stunning and beautifully decorated with finishes and decor from local artisans. Our suite was beautiful with a private patio. Many of the amenities are not available including the fitness center, spa, stables, boutique and cafe. The restaurant Skyfire is open and fantastic.

Wow! Such animosity and resistance. I thought horsemanship was beyond that. Sorry to find it is not. I hope the horses find better places, since the humanity seems so lacking here.

I love Bishops. Sure it was getting a little worn but nothing a little make over couldn't have fixed. My husband and I had been going there from California most every year since the 90s and have held our company's business conferences there and referred friends there everyone had loved it. I have great memories of cocktails on the terrace watching the thunderstorms. Walking the grounds to see the horses in the evenings after a day of shopping at Indian Market and of the chapal where I hope to scatter some of my husband's ashes one day. It was Old New Mexico and rustic but done with taste and character and elegant comfort. It is missed and I am sure the New Bishops will be lovely but nothing the same nor of course will be the price .
