BOXCAR Reviews
The owner doesn't care about staff or human decency. Doesn't even acknowledge staff. Only cares about money.
Thanksgiving dinner was disappointing. They were super busy and the server was overwhelmed so service was slow and not very helpful. The holiday meal did not come with everything advertised and we were not made aware of changes or items no longer available. My daughter's chili was not fully warmed and came with guacamole on top which is not listed on the menu. She has an avocado allergy. Definitely won't be back for a holiday, or any other meals. Boxcar is a lively spot with good food, friendly service, and a fun atmosphere. They are dog-friendly on the patio, which many customers appreciate. The staff is welcoming, and the service is attentive. DJ D-MONIC provides great music, and the drinks are excellent. Parking is easy at the Sandoval public parking garage. The manager, Ian, is friendly and always attentive. The Chicken and Waffles with Red Chile Butter is a must-try dish. The restaurant has a lively vibe, especially on weekends with live music and a club atmosphere. Customers have enjoyed the Bow Buns from the appetizer menu, calling them incredible. Some reviews mention that the food quality can be mixed; cheese grits are great, but burnt ends and onion rings are less impressive. The burger is very tall and may be hard to eat in one bite. Overall, Boxcar offers good bar food and a fun environment, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors to enjoy music and food. It remains a great place to hang out, especially for those looking for a more typical American bar experience that stays open late.
