Found El Callejon while looking for something beyond my usual spots and was pleasantly surprised! My expectations were of the bar fare nature but the quality rivaled fine dining and flavors very authentic!
Had very high expectations coming in and unfortunately I felt it mostly missed the mark. It wasn’t too busy but our food took forever to come out. We both ordered tacos. I got the carne asasa tacos and the meat was incredibly tough and at times uneditable. Which is a shame because the tortillas and the sauces that came with it were outstanding. But the steak was brutal. My side of rice was also hard as a rock… The price was very high for not being right in the main part of...
Ah, El Callejón — the mirage of Santa Fe. After a scenic 20-minute pilgrimage through heat, altitude, and spiritual yearning (read: hunger), we arrived at this highly-reviewed oasis… only to find it closed.
Google Maps proudly displayed “OPEN,” which apparently meant “open to interpretation.” The place looked beautiful inside, like they were hosting a private mezcal tasting for the gods — or at least for people who don’t rely on peasant tools...
