“Went with my wife on a Sunday evening and got a table right away. Service was super quick, deep fried pepperoni appetizer in under 5 minutes, and our mains arrived before we were done with it. The big breakfast and haddock burger were both delicious, like a home-cooked meal. Fries with dill sauce were a standout. Generous portions and great value!”

“How wonderful to find a local tea shop that carries my all time favourite tea! I start my day with a pot of Lapsang Suchong tea, which is not exactly a popular tea choice. Since moving to the Southshore 5 years ago I’ve been ordering my tea from Montreal, but when I noticed this lovely shop a few months ago I decided to pop in to see if they carried Lapsang and to my amazement they did! Nova Scotia can be chilly and damp and there is nothing that soothes my soul more than this wonderful Smokey tea! So thank you Lady Spillington for becoming my new supplier, your Lapsang Suchong is delicious!”

“I am from Atlanta GA and had the pleasure of discovering these Cinnamon swirls at Petite Riviere General Store while camping at Rissers Beach Campground on vacation...I purchased 2 swirls and they were the best I have ever eaten...Since the General Store only gets a shipment on Fridays, I was not able to purchase anymore...So on our way to visiting Halifax for the day, we made a detour off of Hwy 103 to Blockhouse and stopped at Boulangerie La Vendeenne...where I forced myself (Yeah right!!!) to buy 8 more to enjoy in the mornings with a cup of tea...But the story does not end here...That following Friday as we towed our camper to our next destination, we stopped at the General Store and purchased 5 more Cinnamon swirls (Like I was going to pass on that oppourtunity!)...As of today, I am down to only 1 1/2 swirls left and they are just as good out of the freezer and warmed as they were fresh in Nova Scotia!...I sure wish Boulangerie La Vendeenne would ship to the US as I would certainly enjoy ordering some for special occasions!”

“It's been a long time since I went to a Pub for a meal. Last time was 20 odd years ago, when Chicken wings were all the rage. The Foc'sle is way beyond that. The chef there really knows his business. I had a Seafood Risotto, my wife, Stuffed Haddock. Both plates were delicious, with enough to fill you up, but not so much that you wouldn't want desert. I enjoyed every bite. I will say that it's the first time I ever had an ice cold stout. It's not bad. Great place to eat. Very much recommended.”

“This was a first-time visit here. I had a slice of pepperoni pizza and it was delicious. What really caught my eye, though, were the coconut cream mini pies. They looked like works of art. I had two boxed up to take home and the hubby and I enjoyed them immensely that evening. They were so good!”

“Was just into this subway this morning and the person working was AMAZING! They were so friendly and so helpful when deciding what sandwiches etc we wanted. They were so polite and had the best smile the whole time we were there ordering. Subway is subway is subway. The food is the same no matter which one you go to, it’s just the freshness, cleanliness and employees attitudes that differ. I will 100% be back to this subway SOLELY because of this employee! That said, the store was also super clean and the meat, veggies etc were all fresh and looked super good. Very much enjoyed the whole experience. They made my Wednesday morning that much better…and filled my tummy!”

We shared the clam and fish and chip combo…very generous serving, perfectly cooked with fantastic homemade coleslaw and tartar sauce. Friendly, helpful wait staff too! Definitely 10 out of 10, plus there is a Senior’s Discount!”
