Came here after reading great reviews and was disappointed. We ordered the loaded latkes and the server gave us the option of smoked meat gribenes or chilli as the topping. We went with the smoked meat gribenes option and was served the latkes with what tasted like burnt bacon bits. They were completely scorched and bitter. We asked the server and she said “they’re supposed to be like that.”

This establishment was also cash only, and the sign says they accept e-transfer but the server said not on that particular day. We had to pay to draw cash from the ATM, then pay upfront when ordering, and the server then asked if we wanted change so I felt pressure leave a tip before even being served.

It may have been the driest sandwich I’ve ever had and the bread was really crumbly. The service was really friendly, and great atmosphere but i would not return again because the food is not great.

Embarrassed to admit that I had never even heard of this place, but my spouse and I were craving Reubens when we were in the city and google recommended this amazing place! I know it sounds over the top to say, but it was genuinely one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. The Reuben was so good that we could barely speak the whole meal unless it was to rave about how delicious it was between bites!! Seriously, I can't wait to go back 🤤 I wish we'd had time to eat in, the atmosphere was incredible and the staff was super friendly, funny and kind! 100/10!

We had a terrible experience at this place. The owner was shockingly rude. We left our table and waited at the bar to pay — our table had already been cleared — but they completely ignored us for over 20 minutes, helping people who arrived after us instead.

When we finally asked again to pay, the owner rang us up but then short-changed us and tipped himself without asking. We were already disappointed with the service and had no intention of tipping again, but he still held out his hand as if we owed him a second tip.

It’s disturbing how he seemed to believe tips are mandatory, regardless of how poorly he treated his customers. News flash: tips are earned, not owed. This was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. I sincerely hope people think twice before supporting a business that treats guests with such entitlement and disrespect.

Wow, my friend Tom and I had a wonderful lunch. The brisket and smoked meat sandwiches were tasty and delicious, as was the matzo ball soup. Wonderful atmosphere, with a very welcoming server. The food was delicious, with big portions. No room for dessert. I would be a regular here if I lived in Halifax. We had a wonderful conversation with the brither and sister seated at the next table. It is the kind of place where meeting strangers is easy.

Nice, old school deli. Good food, servers are pros. Not our first time, or last.

It has been over 10 years since our last visit.
Not disappointed. I got the smoked meat sandwich, which comes with fries and Pickle. It was excellent.
K had the special, which was the grilled cheese with tomatoes served with Matzah ball soup. All I heard from her were mmmmm and aaahs. So I guess it was good.
