Rousseau is a tasty oasis…delicious hot chocolate, and the highest quality chocolate truffles. There are several vegan options as well. Treat yourself or treat those you care about with their wonderful array of goodies.

This place seriously carried my study sessions when I first moved to Halifax. The staff? 10/10. The vibes? Immaculate. But recently the garbage and construction trucks outside have been jump-scaring me mid study session, so I had to switch to other places. I should note that their coffee could use some improvements as well. Their croissants are still elite though.

I live on Lower Water Street and had never stepped into this little chocolate shop before, and wow… what a treat. I didn’t get everyone’s names, but they were so warm and welcoming. They even gave me free samples, including a hot chocolate sample which honestly made my whole morning. It tasted amazing!
The ambience is really calm and cozy. I can definitely see myself coming back here for a short work session or just to pick up more chocolate. They don’t advertise themselves as a cafe, but they have a few drinks you can enjoy with a friend or while you get a bit of work done.

This little chocolate boutique is delicious in every sense: ambiance, chocolates, drinks (try the Nova Scotia Fog!), music, and service. I visited twice. Sagar, behind the counter, was lovely, knowledgeable, and very friendly. A must when you’re in Halifax!

Genuinely the most amazing cafe I have been to, coming from someone who has travelled all around Canada, and parts of Europe. The service is the biggest factor to stand out, it was absolutely amazing, I had the pleasure to be helped by two different guys and they were both so incredibly kind and helpful, (I unfortunately did not catch their names) Not to mention the environment was immaculate, very clean and peaceful. Even the prices are reasonable for such high quality food/ beverages. I had gotten macarons, and hot chocolate. As a culinary student graduate, you can absolutely tell how much care went into making the macarons, and hot chocolate. The macarons were very soft and fluffy with the most perfect crisp exterior, and the hot chocolate was amazingly rich. If you were to go to one cafe in Halifax, make it this one! I hope this business continues to flourish and keep up its high quality standards.
