It is a nice restaurant with a nice view. The food was good, service was a little lacking. My only issue was they were out of alot of things on the menu. When I ordered the prime rib they brought it and it was way over cooked and hard to cut. I think it was reanimated from the prior days service. They replaced it with a ribeye which was cooked beautifully and well seasoned. Overall it was a lovely meal with a lovely view. I believe they had a huge weekend service and we visited on a Monday.

5/5 stars – each star for customer care, product quality, atmosphere, speed, and value. I loved the generous portions and bold flavors at 1862 David Walley's Restaurant and Saloon. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the dine‑in experience wonderful. The atmosphere is relaxed with a warm, classic American restaurant vibe and great ambiance. This casual dining spot is definitely a top choice for a great meal. I especially enjoyed the prime rib. My wife had the cowboy steak and I can't decide which is my favorite...they were both so good.

Okay so on our Honeymoon, i first want to say Chris our waiter was a good guy but if he says this is what we are known for, or this is a staple. DO NOT GET IT. Steak tasted like it was marinated in chemicals, my wife got pork tenderloin medallions with a jar of salty dark sauce all over it. With the staple sweet potato hash. She loves sweet potato and tasted it once. Absolutely disgusting, drinks were straight liquor, bartender had no idea how to make a Moscow mule. Was just vodka and soda. Place was empty and now we know why. STAY AWAY

Overall we were excited to try this restaurant as it came highly recommended. However, when we arrived we were told that they just changed the menu up two weeks ago. We were really looking forward to the prime rib and were told it was not available. Our food was overall fine but not excellent. The service was rather slow but again it looked like they were understaffed. We will not be returning.

My wife and I almost always get the Fish and Chips from the appetizer menu from the bar. Best F&C in the Tahoe area.

This was easily one of the most bizarre restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. My family of 5 was staying at the resort and decided to stop in for dinner one evening. We arrived pretty early- around 5:30. They asked if we had a reservation and we said no. This clearly threw the staff into a tizzy. They were looking at the seating chart, walking back to the restaurant to look around, whispering to one another. They told us they really recommend reservations. We apologized, but honestly had no idea. We saw the resort had a restaurant and decided to try it. They told us that they were going to try to squeeze us in. We were told like 3 or 4 times “we’re going to try to squeeze you in.” Honestly we almost left right then because it just seemed like we were off to a bad start and really felt like we’d caused a problem.

After a few minutes, though they said that they had a table for 4 and they would pull a 5th chair over for us. We agreed and followed the hostess to our table. When we stepped into the dining area, I actually let out a chuckle and starting looking for the hidden cameras because the restaurant was EMPTY. I could see maybe 40 tables and 3 of them had people at them. We were seated at a small table in the corner with 5 chairs squeezed around it. We were so confused. It took quite awhile for our server to come, but once he finally did he was very friendly and kind. The food was okay. Not great. Not anything special. But good enough for a convenient dinner where we were staying.

By the time we left it was after 7:00 and the restaurant was still less than half full. There were tables all around us in our little section that remained empty. One of them could have easily been pulled over to give us more space. The restaurant closed at 8:00 that night so I find it hard to imagine they had reservations to fill those tables. I understand they could have been short staffed, but that still doesn’t explain why we had to squeeze around a small table when there was clearly plenty of space. It was just very bizarre. To act like we were messing up their whole system and make a big fuss about how difficult it is to get us in and keep telling us how they are squeezing us in like they were doing us this really big favor, only to have an almost empty restaurant for the whole hour and a half we were there.

Decent little restaurant. They work hard to accommodate the people staying at the resort. It’s the only place around so by the time 730 rolls around the place gets overwhelmed on weekends. They should also offer a breakfast or at least a weekend brunch seeing as how they’re on a resort.

Awesome restaurant. It is intertwined with very cool history, and they even have artifacts and news articles from 100 yrs ago on display here. I've eaten here several times and I've never been disappointed with a meal here. The staff are terrific! Chris, Jason, Amy, Cindy, Daphne, and Jan - each a master in their own way that make up the cogs which keep this wagon- wheel turning. Keep up the great work!
(Try the peach cobbler for dessert! It's amaze-balls!)
