Love this place and all the staff. The owner motto " Don't change what is working" the food should taste the same because of the time and effort put in to prepare each dish.
My sweet husband went on a hunt to find me collard greens as a surprise. He found Papa What You Cooking and they were open on Sunday 😁 . This girl could not have been happier. The greens were everything I was craving and more!!! They ended up being my whole dinner. Sold for life! If you can make your greens that perfect I can't wait to try more.

Papa What You Cooking is a cozy restaurant serving true southern cuisine and is considered one of the best places for food and pastries in Reno. Fresh pies and cakes are available daily, and the owner believes in the motto "Don't change what is working," ensuring that the food tastes the same because of the time and effort put into each dish. The grilled chicken sandwich with mac and cheese is a highlight, and the oxtail is noted for being amazing and tender. The braised oxtail with cornbread is amazing and the corn bread is so good. Desserts like coconut cake and 7up pound cake are popular, and the restaurant offers traditional southern dishes. The staff was nice and the customer service is amazing every time. The po boy and melted cheese sandwich was juicy and flavorful. The place is located in the basement of the historic old post office building and is a hidden gem amidst the corporate food scene in Reno.
