Great vibes and ambiance. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Exceptional cocktail selection and every one we tried was outstanding. The chicken sandwich was only ok. I would maybe give it a second chance and try a different menu item.

Parking: Two parking lots in the back. Ample parking when we visited but it was a slower weeknight in fairness.

Feels like an old-timesie place with friendly staff and tantalizing soul food brunch that makes it hard to choose just one item. Basket of briskets are slammin. Kid friendly. Street parking is easy.

Horrible experience. Was seated and a waitress took our drink order. 20+ minutes later, no drinks. Lame excuse given about the bar being behind due to paper tickets. Walked out.

A must-go for genuine Southern food in Albany ) and of course Saratoga Springs too--the original location. The space is great , excellent cocktails and service, lovely bar, large portions and authentic. You can't go wrong!

The atmosphere was great, the lighting made it feel very lounge like and comfortable. The drinks were strong. The menu has a variety of choices including vegetarian options. The chicken and waffles were a good little bite to snack on.

A Charming Evening at Ms. Hattie's: Where Past Meets Present

Located at 121 Madison Ave, Albany, NY 12202, Ms. Hattie's offers a delightful blend of 1930s charm and modern culinary excellence. My wife Casandra and I recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary at this gem, and the experience was nothing short of memorable.

## Ambiance
From the moment we stepped through the green doors, we were enveloped in warmth. The decor - a tasteful mix of greens, plants, murals, paintings, mirrors, and instruments - created a homey yet sophisticated atmosphere.

## Drinks & Appetizers
We started with the Back Porch Lemonade, a refreshingly light cocktail. The basket of fresh biscuits was a highlight, especially when paired with Dickinson's jam and honey butter. While the cornbread was a bit dry for our taste, the fried green tomatoes were a hit with my wife.

## Main Courses
Casandra's Jasper's Mac & Cheese was a perfect blend of cheeses - rich without being overpowering. My Fried Chicken & Ribs Combo was a true delight. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection, boasting an ideal crispness and satisfying crunch with every bite. The ribs were equally impressive - delicious and not overpowered by excessive BBQ sauce, allowing the natural flavors to shine through. The dish came with excellent skin-on mashed potatoes and country gravy. The candied yams were delicious, though I prefer them a bit softer. A word of caution on the collard greens - they have a strong vinegar flavor that might not appeal to everyone.

## Sweet Finish
The restaurant surprised us with a complimentary Key Lime Pie for our anniversary. This dessert was a true standout - substantial yet light and bursting with flavor.

## Service
Our waiter, Matthew, was knowledgeable and offered great recommendations. Chef Jasper Alexander's personal touch of visiting tables to gather feedback showcased the restaurant's commitment to customer satisfaction.

## Overall Impression
Despite minor hiccups with some side dishes, our experience at Ms. Hattie's was overwhelmingly positive. The combination of charming ambiance, delicious food - particularly the standout fried chicken and ribs - and attentive service makes it a perfect spot for special occasions or a lovely night out.

Pretty restaurant with pleasant ambiance. Fried chicken was perfect. Corn bread was the bomb! Didn't care for the collards and will try the brussel sprouts or yams next time. The jambalaya was delicious. We will definitely be back.

I've been to every one of the Hattie's. The vibe here is different than Philadelphia street but not a draw back. The food was good. I had the shrimp and grits. I originally ordered the fried chicken traded with a friend who thought the shrimp was too spicy. I don't think it was spicy at all. I think she saw the chicken and waffles and wished she ordered that instead. Lol. Half of our party of seven ordered the chicken and waffles and raved about it. One person ordered the catfish; she is a very picky eater but said it was delicious.Shout out to our server Matthew who was patient and very responsive. We will return.

Our only regret was not being able to bring leftovers home since we took an Uber downtown. Excellent and authentic southern style food at the Albany location. We previously did Hatties at Saratoga Track and know their chicken sandwiches are awesome. Highly recommend their "other" dishes such as rubbed bbq ribs and mac&cheese and much more. Great sides too and extensive drink menu with a large variety of beers on tap.

Food was delicious and served rather quickly. The staff were attentive and welcoming. The atmosphere was upbeat and the decor was creative. It is definitely a restaurant we will look forward to returning to

Met a friend for Sunday brunch. Parking was easy (plenty of spots in their lot), food and service were great and the decor was welcoming (my wife esp liked the musical instrument chandelier).

My father Lester Grimmell used to bring me here during his lunch break when it was known as Lombardo’s. My father was Chief Executive of The NYS Insurance Department Complaint Division until 1999. I recently visited Hattie’s Restaurant that took over the space. I was taken aback with the nostalgia that was kept in the renew of the establishment. Going forward, sitting at the bar to eat dinner was a most enjoyable experience. We were delighted to discover Sara our bartender with her expertise in creating the cocktails specific to your palate. The jambalaya was incredible and true to form, actually better than I had in many years. We will definitely be back often. ❤️
