They do not vet their volunteers, and them nor the director have the credentials required to work with children. Parents, you may be relieved for the help and the stimulation your child is getting. However, that does not ever excuse someone screaming at a child saying "sit properly in your chair, you shouldn't even be able to make eye contact with me while you eat" in a demeaning tone. As a witness, the room was hushed with shock but no one stood up for the child.I cannot report this to proper authorities because unlike *our* organizations they are held to no standards by the office of children and family services.everyone should receive mandatory training and that should include implicit bias training. however, as I'm sure the response will state, I quit before any so called "resolution" because the action so far was nil and disappointing. You as the director handling this personally is not enough. You were never a black child, nor do you have any idea how normalized it is for nonblack people to talk down to black children both in subtle and aggressive ways. Absolutely inexcusable that the volunteer was not immediately excused. He has a huge anger problem that is only going to get worse, as if he felt he could talk to a child in that manner for no reason, I can only imagine what else he will do.Be aware of your children being used as stepping stones so that Tracie can open a new center across the bridge for a *different* population.

A beautiful place to volunteer. A safe place to donate so children can have healthy meals, safe play activities, and enrichment programs.

This amazing local grass roots project is uniting neighbors and creating access to the most basic needs for the most affected children in our community. Give them a call and drop by to help prepare a meal and meet your neighbors!
