Brooklyn Curry Project is a favorite spot for authentic South Indian food, especially Bangalore-style dosas and Idli. The masala dosa is easily one of the best, perfectly crisp with a delicious filling. The chutney is so delicious, and the chai is a must-try, including the masala chai and shunti (ginger) chai. The Ragi dosa and thatte idly are also highly recommended. One weekend they even served Davanagere benne dosa, which was such a treat. The food is absolutely delicious, with rich and authentic flavors. The mutton haleem and Hyderabadi haleem taste exactly like back home. The owner talks to everyone and is very open to inputs. One of the chefs was making bear-shaped dosas for the kids, which was so cute. The vibe feels like a close-knit community where everyone belongs. It is best to visit around mid afternoon to avoid long waiting lines. They pop up every Saturday at Nimbus Kitchen in Downtown Brooklyn. A true gem in the city.
