Left Sunny’s Bar on Conover Street and headed down Van Brunt. Apparently this is the place to get the best Irish coffee ever. I walked in and went towards the back room cocktail area and saw a couple drinking something that looked delicious. Upon asking I was informed it was an Irish coffee. I followed suit and ordered one myself and it did not disappoint. I then noticed pretty much everybody in the establishment was drinking Irish coffee. Grabbed 2 deviled eggs on my way out and a ham cheese crossaint. Enjoyable !

Great brunch, everything on the menu is clearly prepared with love for food. The staff was friendly, very attentive, and the outdoor seating is great when the weather is warm.I loved the huevos rancheros with hand cut pork chili.

We came for my birthday. The food was delicious but the service was terrible. Our drinks never came. When our dinners came, one of the sides was missing. We had to ask for our drinks. They came halfway through the meal and our waiter joked about bringing the lost drinks. This all made the occasion a good deal less festive.

Delicious and very memorable brunch. Everything was perfectly prepared. Smokey bacon, fresh eggs, sourdough toast, delicious blueberry French toast. Wowz ??

Their prices might be on par with the neighborhood which is quiet and near the water. I like Van Brunt and the pier to the west but I can't afford to eat places like that oftenKid-friendliness: It's very quiet. There may be alcohol served but I didn't notice. I think mostly locals go there. Didn't notice a television or music either

There's only about 10 restaurants in Red Hook, and one of them only makes key lime pie. So if you've made plans to have dinner in the neighborhood more than once, there's a good chance you've come to Fort Defiance. They offer an elevated cocktail game with a classic tavern menu. I loved the fries most of all, my tequila Negroni second. And the portobello burger with Gruyère was good but didn't leave much of an impression.

I can't remember last time I've been at Fort Defiance, but it's been many, many years, and it was probably just for drinks. I recently had the opportunity to come here for a late lunch on a Sunday in August, and the experience was a bit of a letdown.I'm not sure if there were issues with our order, but our food took a loooong time to arrive. The place was maybe 1/3 empty, so I don't think the kitchen could have been overwhelmed.I really enjoyed the huevos rancheros; solid, flavorful dish. My main issue was with the lentil soup, which was supposed to come with crème fraîce but it arrived without. When I asked our waitress, she said that they ran out of crème fraîce. That can happen, but why didn't they tell us in advance? That way, perhaps I could have picked a different dish. Instead, we were served a dish that was lacking a key ingredient, at full-price. I just didn't like that.

A fantastic spot. Lovely decor and great art on the wall with a produce section at the back selling various niche items. Great coffee and good food. Recommend.

One of my favorite restaurant/General Store/Cocktail bar in Brooklyn. The owner is very hands on and keeps the momentum of how this establishment has pivoted into a staple in this Red Hook neighborhood. They have vegan options which makes me very happy. I highly recommend this institution in community service.

Came in to the restaurant on the late side last night on in a state of ice cream distress knowing the shop in front was closed. Sadly no ice cream options available in Red Hook at the time of this post lol. The staff was kind enough to let me in choose a pint of Van Leeuwen from the freezer anyway even though the stove was closed hours before. They didn’t know I knew the owner or lived on the block or anything. That’s the definition of hospitality right there fam! ? Thank you!

Cute place. The grilled cheese was excellent, as was the BLT. The egg tortilla pocket was not something I would order again.Kid-friendliness: We brought out toddler and it was fine but tall stools/tables seem like it might be tricky with smaller ones.

This place is a ? in Red Hook. It's part of a Restaurant/Bar. The section I went into is The General Store. They have breakfast and lunch items that you can eat here or takeout. They also have Rotisserie Chicken and grocery items. The place is very cute with a vibe of being in another era. The service is good and so are the prices. I had an Egg and Cheese Biscuit. It was tasty. I especially liked the Biscuit. The people working there were very nice. I have to go back and check out the Restaurant.

This restaurant used to have a burger that competed with their neighbor Red Hook Tavern - it was an “Oklahoma Smash” and it was great. They took a good thing and made it worse, the new burger is just ok & definitely doesn’t make us choose dinner here over elsewhere. We were regulars, now not so much. That said their new breakfast and lunch daily menu is great. Excellent fried chicken sandwich and great BLTBut please hear this and bring back those great burgers, the new one is just nothing to write home about, the old one fulfilled a craving and made us look forward to burgers at Fort Defiance

This restaurant serves absolutely delicious breakfast food and great coffee. The chef clearly knows what he's doing with the sauces! The service is fast and friendly and the place is really clean with chill and cozy atmosphere. Love it! Will definitely be coming back!
