The atmosphere and the service were genuinely incredible! The Martini was also quite special. The food, unfortunately, fell a bit short for us. The sauces that accompanied many of the dishes ended up overpowering the flavors rather than complementing them. The Kabocha was a table favorite. I’m sure I’ll come back for the drinks, though.

Found this hidden gem tonight and the food and the cocktails were outstanding. We can’t wait to come back and try more but the tofu, soft shell crab and black miso chicken were perfect! Staff were lovely and service was perfectly paced. What a great addition to our regular places to eat out

Katabaru offers cozy izakaya vibes with solid small plates and strong cocktails. The menu includes juicy karaage, grilled unagi rice, unagi, veggie don, Japanese donburi, nanban chicken sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, soft pub bun, softshell crab, anchovy potatoes, beef carpaccio, raw scallops, raw tuna, hot octopus, sashimi over rice, unagidon bowls, chanpon, tempura, large proteins and inventive Japanese fusion appetizers. Flavors are smoky, sweet, umami and very good. The cucumber salad, potato salad, miso soup, sweet potatoes and plum wine complement the dishes. Service is great, very attentive and the waiters try their best to accommodate. The atmosphere is cute, beautiful decor and low‑key, perfect for a quiet spot when you want good food without chaos. Drinks include many Kyushu sake, Niwa no Uguisu, shochu and a lot of choices for drinks. The presentation is great and portions are large. Guests say the food is incredibly delicious, out of this world and the best they have ever had. Katabaru is a wonderful and delicious experience that makes people want to go back. Even when they got busy the service was still very attentive.
