“Brought my girlfriend here to celebrate Valentine’s Day and her birthday as well. Not too familiar with omakase experiences but had absolutely nothing negative to say about the food. Fish tasted fresh and simple. Service was exceptional, warm and friendly. Immediately felt welcomed and at home. Also brought us a surprise birthday cake at the end.“
“Wow, what a night, with flavors that can barely be described. They are so perfectly crafted. The almond miso soup packs so much flavor. The skewers are delicate. But the star of the show is the mazemen. I'm not sure I've ever had a dish like this and not sure I'll have one again. Definitely add the egg to give this dish and edge you will tell everyone about. The staff also deserves a shout out as everyone is so pleasant, knowledgeable and they make it seem like they've all been working together forever.“
“Great spot for temaki. You can mix and match your order. I mixed some of the classic with the toro and red crab. The scallop one was particularly delicious. We started with the spicy tuna dip which was also great. Tried the nami nori salad, interesting flavors, wasn’t my favorite but definitely something different to try that you won’t find on another menu. Awesome lunch spot!“
“This is probably our favorite bar in the area. The cocktails are always changing and always delicious. Lisa does a fantastic job and never misses a beat. Also don't sleep on the food. The spicy chicken and truffle fries are phenomenal. It can get crowded because it's so good so getting in early is best to get a good seat. That being said, the atmosphere is lively but chill. Highly recommend it.“
“If you happen to be around Brooklyn and have about an half hour or an hour to spend, I would definitely recommend this place. It's close to the subway. This is a very eye opening place to visit if you are interested in dashi in general. The store has variety of dashi for you to try (also vegan options) and also allows you to create your own, which is super fun and educational. They have a lot of imported japanese products + meal, which could be a bit pricy; however, consider you dont have to fly to Japan to get them, they are acceptable and worth try at least once. The atmosphere is super nice. Nice lighting/furnitures and everything. The staffs were also super informative and could help you in a lot in making decisions toward unending dashi ingredients.“
“Cool assortment of imported Japanese produce, and goods. Everything is fresh, as the market is often busy items are constantly getting restocked. The variety of restaurants are delicious, I love the soba stand. They also have some quick eats, and desserts“
“This café offers delightful. We particularly enjoyed the sushi and grilled calamari. Don't make our mistake—order plenty from the start, as the food here is exceptionally delicious. We were thoroughly satisfied with our dining experience. Highly “
“Absolutely my favorite place for sushi. When you order the omakase you aren't just served different cuts of fish you may be familiar with like bluefin tuna but rather get a series of carefully crafted pieces combining flavors you'd never expect. Whenever friends visit New York, I always suggest Sushi “
“Came for a group dinner and had an amazing experience ✨ The service, atmosphere, food - everything was 10/10 immaculate! Definitely one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood. We tried almost everything on the menu as a group but my favorites were the noodle dishes. Try the Jpop lychee seltzer too! Highly recommend and would definitely return for more ?“
“This is true Japan. Real Japan. A modest restaurant of the highest quality. A small space on a side street. This is authentic Japan. There are two tables and a counter - 12 seats total. The chefs are right there. The server too, all are soft spoken and focused on their craft. The food is... The food is... The food is so good. So, so good. The sashimi melted, balanced with the spicy thing. The mazeman incredible, full of umami and flavor. The ramen healed my soul :)Do me a favor if you go... Eat, enjoy and leave. Be efficient... Be respectful. Be Japanese. It's a small space, they're too nice to move you along, but c'mon, allow them to serve more people and make more money“
“Have come here a couple times for dinner. Both times, we tried different dishes that were both classic Japanese food and also some unique specials. The last time we went we sat in the back of the restaurant past the kitchen, which is quite crowded. There was a table of screaming children (standing on their chairs screaming), being really disruptive which affected our experience a bit. Food is top notch, and service is extremely friendly.“
“I have been here for both dinner and lunch. I prefer the dinner menu over their lunch menu because of the bigger portions and wider variety, but the dinner menu is available at lunch as well. For dinner, my partner got the braised short rib which he was very pleased with. I got the set of four hand rolls which all tasted fresh and delicious. The hand rolls are more like open sushi tacos. There was a lot of filling so I ended up being fuller than I expected. For lunch, we had the lunch bento set which included a small portion of an entrée, a miso soup or salad, and a hand roll of your choice for about $25 depending on your entree. The teriyaki is on the milder side. Overall, I am happy to have this little gem in Brooklyn. Besides the good food, service has always been exceptional too.“
“I'm not sure where people got the idea that this restaurant is kosher when it's clearly stated on their Instagram and website that they aren't. If you want glatt kosher, go into the Satmar part of Williamsburg or drive a few miles into Crown Heights.I heard about this place from a local friend and decided to check it out during my vacation in Brooklyn. The concept is unique - a Japanese-style izakaya offering a fusion of Jewish and Japanese cuisine. The waiter was kind, helpful, and incredibly friendly, guiding us through the menu. The okonomiyaki reminded me of a love child between a pastrami Reuben, a latke, and a Japanese okonomiyaki, with flavors so intertwined you can't distinguish the origins. Some might argue that the prices are high, but I think they miss the point. The dishes are meant to be shared family-style, so when you split the dishes with a friend or two, the prices become quite reasonable. We ordered quite a bit of food between the two of us, and had dessert along with a beer and a sake. We didn’t break the bank.My only gripe is that the restaurant is very small, making it hard to avoid overhearing other people's conversations or having waitstaff squeeze between tables.Overall, it's a hidden gem in the trendy, hip side of Williamsburg.“
“What an experience! The food, service, and ambiance were great! Sitting at a communal table where everyone is served all at once is an interesting concept. You get to see other diners reactions to each course and in between you can converse with other everyone, including the staff. Each dish was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will gladly return.“
“Our meal at IWAK was good enough to call it a Williamsburg gem after one try. Great rolls, pork buns, and sake. The service and atmosphere felt more reminiscent of Japan than a number of other sushi spots.Excited to have a new sushi favorite nearby!“
“The restaurant itself is a bit bare boned, but oddly it reminded me of Japan. It was quite empty, and it seemed like they do more with online/take out orders. Server was nice, but a bit pushy with sake and specials. Food was pretty good; we enjoyed the shishito peppers and garlic karaage as starters. Tonkatsu Ramen was great and sushi tasted fresh.“
“Good omakase place. Shari preparation is above average, good amount of rice, good temp, good tightness and vinegar combinations. Very few choices of hikarimono here, and Aji was just ok. Since I am a pure edomae enthusiast, an offering of Wagyu sushi (an extra price, of course i did not order bz it is not a pure edomae tradition) was disappointment to me since smoke smelling of wagyu beef spread all over the sushi bar. Services were excellent and a very nice, spacious atmosphere inside. I may try this place again for the second time. Overall reasonable to good omakase sushi.“
“Me and my date went here last week and it was such a great experience!! From the very start until we ended, the staff was lovely and accommodating. Not to mention the fish being amazing. It was a true once in a lifetime culinary experience. In addition, our waitress Vivian was beyond lovely. She made great reccs, was attentive, and so kind. It all was very authentic from the no shoes, sitting on the floor, to the stunning hand crafted food and unique flavor pairings. We had such a great time and am so happy we went!“
“Giving it a 4 stars because the effort and intent was there, but the Miso ramen was unfortunately too rich for my tastes and I couldn't finish the broth, although the wavy noodles were perfect, very Q. The Karaage was some of the best I've ever had - it came out quickly and straight out of the fryer and it was melting in my mouth. One waitress was working the whole restaurant and was doing a fantastic job. 5 star service for sure.“
“We stumbled on this place on MLK day when the original restaurant we wanted to visit was closed for lunch and what an unexpected treat. Everything was delicious and fresh. Our server was attentive and kind. We sat at the counter and enjoy watching the care that was placed in preparing the rolls. A great spot to visit for sushi.“
“The rice, baked in a black-enamel cast iron casserole with a whole or nearly whole lobe of foie gras, never leaves the menu. It’s impressive to look at — almost everybody takes a photo — and to eat. It’s mashed and stirred extensively before it’s served, leaving the foie gras in small, nearly invisible bits. You taste their memory.“
“I did like this place. The interior has a cool, almost grungy feel to it which I loved. I will say the fish wasn’t as fresh as other sushi restaurants I have been to in New York and although the sushi was well made there were some dishes that felt like they had been rushed. The edamame for example tasted soft, microwaved. However, the price was so reasonable that I could forgive some of small criticisms. The whole experience was really enjoyable and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.“
“Really great atmosphere except tables are really too close to each other.I had the veg ramen and it was really delicious. The broth flavor was really delicious.I kinda wish there was tofu instead of vegan protein because it was crumbled and just fell into the broth so it wasn’t really filling but tasty. And the cabbage was like the hard ends of the cabbage; I didn’t enjoy. But overall really yummy. And I was going to get the regular matcha shaved ice but it was huge so the waitstaff said they had a few of the little ones from restaurant week left over and those had non-dairy ice cream underneath. It was delicious! I’d go back and get some more of that matcha ice for sure!!Vegetarian options: There is one vegan ramen.“
“We finally visited Brooklyn Ball Factory which has been on our go-to list but failed many times due to the crowd. The decor is humble with relaxing ambiance but not recommended to dine in for someone who is looking for a comfortable spot.We had their Teriyaki Double Cheese Burger and Osouzai Salad. It was overall authentic with delicate flavors but small portion.“
“Was in the area and stopped by randomly for some food. I meant to look at reviews first but forgot. Ordered, sat down and when my food came I was first really pleased with the presentation, then so happy with the taste. Really good sushi. I wish this place was in my neighborhood. Checked the reviews after the fact and I agree 100%, so had to add my own!“
“This is our go-to fancy sushi spot. The quality and inventiveness of their dishes is amazing. Everything is absolutely delicious and so fresh! It’s pricy but worth it. Certain dishes are absolutely decadent and the stuff of dreams! My hubby says it’s the best sushi he’s had in the states since visiting Japan, so that’s saying something!!“
“Juju’s is one of my favorite lunch spots in all of Brooklyn! I love it so much. Their bubble tea is really good (make sure to get it 50 percent sugar unless you love super sweet tea) and the onigiri is so so so so good! They have an unbelievable amount of flavors and chicken teriyaki is my favorite. I typically get passion fruit bubble tea but that is just me and I would suggest to try some of there more exotic flavors. This place is good for lunch but it also has a lot of imported items like ramune and shrimp chips. They also have boba kits. The vibe is amazing and the servers are super nice. This is a great deli and convenience store!!“
“Very happy I decided to stop in and peek at the menu. This is a fantastic little Japanese restaurant with unique menu that includes items like a breaded shrimp fried burger. And yes, I had to try it. The Edi Katsu Burger comes with shredded cabbage and tartar style sauce with a side of tater tots. This was my first time trying a shrimp burger and I was very a happy with my choice. I would prefer fries or something more authentic over tots. The table service was quick and very helpful. The restaurant has dimmed lighting so be prepared to pull out your cell phones flashlight to read the menu if you are in the same boat as me and may require glasses but refuse to wear them. ;).Overall very happy with my dinner selection at this cozy spot in Brooklyn“
“One of the best matches I’ve had! This spot offers a few kinds of matcha, each with unique taste. Excited to go back for the sweets and matcha tasting as well! However note very limited seating so definitely not the best place to have a catch up with “
“Hubby had his first and best omakase experience. We went for our 24th anniversary celebration. At first, before the omakase begins, hubby was like “I only like salmon because of its buttery taste. I don’t like any other fish” and then next thing I hear was “omg, this fish so good”; “omg, this fish is also yummy”; “oh this fish is so fresh and tasty” ? ? I laughed at him and asked if he still likes salmon ONLY. He says no. Yay! Mission accomplished!!“
“The food was very fresh delicious and served with wonderful presentation. All the raw sushi/sashimi tasted fresh. I liked that the bbq squid was tender and not tough like other places I've tried. My family came here to celebrate my brother's birthday and it was a nice, quiet place on a weekday night. Thank you for the complimentary butterfly sushi dish and dessert!“
“This place has a relaxing setting and good service. The food is exceptionally amazing. This has become one of my favorite places in the area to go eat now. If you're looking for a low key place for a night out with your partner or a place to take a date this is a good place to go.“
“My four stars are not meant to be a negative as to food quality or taste. One negative was the food that came out in a disjointed order. I don't remember the specifics. I just remember that I was puzzled. A second and more important negative is that the drinks are small yet expensive. I utilized the bakyard space to dine, and even on a cold night, it was comfortable. The host and server were pleasant and welcoming. I would definitely eat there again, without question, but not buy any drinks ?. Enjoy!“
“The staff was incredibly sweet and welcoming. This was my first experience doing Japanese Style BBQ where a server helps prepare the meat for you, and they made the experience very special. Both the server and the chef, who was preparing the cuts of meat for us in an open style serving area, would introduce the cut and the kind of sauce or condiment it goes well with, while giving enough time for us to chat and eat before coming back with the next round of cuts. Overall the service, cuts of meat, quality, atmosphere, and service were excellent and I can’t wait to go back again!“
“Junsui Omakase located 65 Jay St, Dumbo Brooklyn, NY 11201 - easy to find parking nearby or access public transportation!Amazing omakase experience with menu options include 14-course for $125 or $150 for 17-course. Immerse myself in the artistic ambiance of an intimate sushi bar, where the sushi chef presents each course with details in a very clean environment. Friendly staff often offer drinks on the house, an unforgettable dinner experience that you must try!!They are BYOB! - Bring along a bottle to personalize the party's experience while savoring their unparalleled cuisine.“
“Really enjoyed this place, felt like a proper Izakaya in parts (there's a cool bar seating bit round the back for 5-6 people) - huge sharing table too. Food is excellent, and I thought really fairly priced, great beer too - highly recommend!“
“One day walked pass and said hey let me try the food here and I like it here. The staff is patient, kind and very helpful when it comes down to food suggestion. So if you want something to eat try the food in there. I would recommend it. My server Tommy was very helpful and did a amazing job. Wanted something new and he suggested the hibachi steak and shrimp.“
“A local Japanese goods shop & bento box place. This place is nice for a quick bite and takeouts. Can get pretty busy on weekends.I like their bento boxes - tasty and pretty healthy. Not anything super special or intricate but straight forward. Would recommend the salmon bento box and the chicken nanban bento box.If you're planning on dining in, keep in mind the dining area is more of a self-serve food court experience.“
“Everything at Momo is absolutely fantastic. The salmon teriyaki bento box is to die for with a rotating selection of delicious homemade sides. I order lunch daily from here, and everything — the sushi rolls, the rice bowls the sides, are all excellent. The staff is top notch This place has saved us all at lunchtime out at the Brooklyn army terminal.“
“Delicious, indulgent soba in rich duck broth with plum paste - my only wish is that the broth came out piping hot, not warm. There was great depth and flavor, but was it worth the price tag? For a whopping ~$50 lunch for entree + one app split with my party, I am glad I have tried it but will likely return to raku to get my noodle fix. The homemade tofu however... this was a revelation and I will think about it for a long time. Sweet, savory, texture is somewhat like mochi, and pairs so well with wasabi!“
“Ki Sushi is my 'Go-To' place for lunch after a long yet productive, remote work day. Recently, after placing a takeout order, there was a mixup with my order.I called and spoke to a manager, and after a moment or two, he offered to make good on the mixup during my next visit.I returned the next day, and the staff were most gracious and apologized for the mixup and made good with their promise.“
“We had the omakase, fried chicken, and the wagyu-toro temaki. The food was quite good with a decent price. I fully enjoyed the omakase. The chicken was quite spicey, so just know that before you order. It was a bit strong in comparison to the simplicity of sushi, but still tasted delicious. I wasn’t too impressed with their cocktails, but the food is great! The ambience is pretty bright and children friendly. A bit too bright for my taste, but the food is worth the trip!Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs for kids“
“I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki with white rice and with less sauce. It was a good amount of portion for my lunch. I really like it!And the Chicken Teriyaki is having promotion right now. The price is reasonable compared to other fast food restaurant around this area.“
“Throughout my five years of visiting, Taiki has been very consistent at having top quality fish, excellent dishes, great cocktail and sake selection, and perfect service. The atmosphere is very cozy and everyone, including chef Taiki, is welcoming. Already wondering when I can visit again.“
“This is a new sushi addition to the sheepshead Bay road, which probably makes these two blocks most saturated with sushi restaurants in the entire NYC. It used to be a lounge, so the new owners kept most of the decor, and the place looked modern and cool. I wasn't really hungry, so I just had a few appetizers. Salmon skin salad was okay, miso eggplants - I definitely had better, but the only reason I gave them 5 stars was omakase trio. Really delicious creation, and I was pleasantly surprised. So yes, I will be back to find more about this place“
“I was very impressed with this place. The vibe is lively and cozy, the food is great (we ordered the pickled plate, karagge chicken, raw scallops, shishito peppers, veggie curry, and matcha cake flambe), and the service was excellent. Our waiter --I'm sorry, I don't remember your name! Curly hair and circular glasses -- was so good at accurately describing everything on the menu. He did not lead me astray once. Oh and the cocktails! My god. So original and delicious. If you're a fan of complex, original cocktails, go here. Highly recommend this place!“
“DELICIOUS and super unique spot. great cocktails, great atmosphere. the pork betty is insane & also loved the house made shumai (steamed) the bozu bombs are so much fun, so come with friends and order a bunch. service was fine, but everything else deserves a strong 5 stars. i'd love to sit at the sushi bar next “
“The portions are really good for the price. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. I had the Malaysian iced coffee and left me wanting to bring a whole jar back home. The dancing lobster sushi was amazing and so was the hibachi chicken. Plus they had special when you spend a certain amount you get a free item from 3 choices. We opted for the mochi green tea which was also amazing. Could recommend this place to anyone. Will definitely come back!Chuck was amazing at attending us and brought good vibes?“
“I’ve only ordered food to-go from Sushi Yashin and I ordered it 4 days in a row, so I hope that sums up my review for the most part. The Spicy Girl roll is tasty and delicious with fresh tuna and jalapeno for a kick. The Apollo roll is tempura shrimp with some sort of mayo on top. The Rainbow roll has different fish on top like tuna, salmon, and yellowtail—if you’re looking for one roll with variety, this is the one I’d recommend. As for the normal rolls, can’t go wrong with a basic California roll.We will definitely be back and hopefully for dine-in so we can try it at its freshest!Vegetarian options: Avocado rolls / edamame / miso soup“
“It is a small and unique fusion Japanese restaurant.LINGO BEEF PIE, it's beef pie. It's so delicious when eaten soaked with the bread we ordered together, and it's fantastic with a glass of wine.CRISPY CAULIFLOWER, white brucoli. The seasoning was a little bit of Kkanpunggi sauce with a hint of Japanese pickled ginger... Oh~??????I ordered HOKKAIDO MILK BREAD... I ordered this to eat with beef pie! So delicious potato bread??Everything was really delicious!andI ordered a special dessert that wasn't on the menu... Sour, refreshing and sweet, it cleanses your mouth properly...(My friend who went with me likes the Chinese style soup... but he said it's not delicious! Please note)If you like Japanese-French fusion, this is perfect??????“
