“Bunna Cafe has some great Ethiopian food and is exclusively a vegetarian place on top of that (I don't know about most people but I personally love my meat). However, despite not serving meat, Bunna Cafe still delivers flavor at great prices and portion sizes. My favorites were the spicy lentil and mushroom one but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. The hospitality was exceptional as well. No complaints here!“

“Went there with my husband and was greeted by a nice man who buzzed us in. He welcomed us with a smile and warmth, which was nice on a cold day. We went downstairs, not knowing what to expect, but was greeted by another nice man who explained things nicely and made us feel welcome. Their smiles seemed very genuine. The space is open for being in a basement and a peaceful atmosphere for being in the heart of Brooklyn. Something unique and special about the food, that in the end really made us feel quite nice. When we were leaving the man in the front , I think his name was merari ( I remember because he said it rhymed with Ferrari) , after sharing him how we felt after eating, told us is that every meal is prepared with love "our secret ingredient". We ate our food while parked in-front of their restaurant. I ordered a plate for my dad because it was that good, healthy & filling. We ordered the chlorophyll water, it was bland. I miss my fave that I have been eating since I was little - Sweet and Sour Chicken, so this was a great vegan substitute. Only bad thing is not enough rice is sent with the main dishes! I have never in my entire 50+ year life, had a tiny rice box, like this, from a Chinese restaurant. You will need to order extra rice. I only took one star because of having to cook more rice.4. I have to warn that it is extremely cold at the bar so make sure to keep your jacket on or order their hot alcoholic beverages. Unfortunately, they had ran out of hot apple cider and boozy hot chocolate so I ended up ordering their most sour draft beer. I don't usually drink beer but this drink sounded interesting with a mix of oranges and mangos. I loved it! I was also hungry and wanted a quick snack while waiting for the show to start so I asked the bartender about the nachos with jalapeños. He recommended it but I wasn't so sure about the jalapeños since I didn't want to burn off my tongue. He said that he could give me the nachos without it but highly recommended it. He then added that he didn't want to pressure me in choosing something I didn't want. So he was very helpful and thoughtful. I ended up going for the full nacho experience and loved it. The art on the wall in this place is meant to be hard rock with its skulls and coffin drawings garnishing the place. I loved it! The bathroom has tons of porn picture, which made me feel like a teenager again sneaking into a bar that I'm prohibited from going to. I did prefer the collard greens at Ras over Bersi's though. (Too bad I didn't try the injera at Ras for a comparison.) All that said, I did enjoy the Bole Bowl: the crunchy soy crumbles were a fun textural element, and the avocado injected creaminess into the mix.
