“A lovely Italian trattoria with an enormous enclosed back garden. Delicious pastas and good house wines at reasonable prices. It's not ground breaking but the food is well prepared and presented. All the service is top tier from the host to the waiters to the bussing staff. Recommended if you're in the area.“
“I got the chance to have lunch at Misi with my girlfriend on our most recent trip to NYC. The reservations get booked pretty quickly but I put myself on the Resy waitlist and spots opened up fairly frequently (especially for lunch). We started with the whipped ricotta crostini and the grilled broccoli. I absolutely loved the crostini. Nice crispy bread, soft, airy ricotta, a nice umami contrast from the mushrooms and a little extra richness from the olive oil. The broccoli was also quite good, with a little hint of spice and some nice textural contrasts with the provolone and the breadcrumbs, but the crostini was definitely the highlight. For mains, I had the spinach and mascarpone tortelli, while my girlfriend had the chitarra with braised lamb. Both were delicious. The tortelli was served in a rich browned butter sauce with ricotta salata. This is a simple classic that reminded me of dishes I've had elsewhere, but here the simplicity really accentuated the quality of the daily freshly hand-made pasta and the other ingredients. I would definitely order this dish again. The chitarra with braised lamb took things to a completely different level. I was initially expecting a fairly straightforward tomato-based pasta with lamb, but one bite proved me wrong. In this dish again, the quality of the fresh pasta really shined. The sauce was rich (it tasted like a sauce that's been cooked down for hours and hours), and the lamb definitely added some flavor to the sauce, without being overpowering. The lamb itself was extremely tender and served throughout the pasta pulled-apart style. The only caveat food-wise was that the chitarra was a bit too salty for my girlfriend's taste, but that did not detract from the overall quality of the food. For desert, the only options were gelato, although there were several different flavors to choose from. We elected to share the pistachio one, and it was good, but compared to all the food we had just eaten, it was pretty unremarkable. This is one area where I would've liked to see a few non-gelato options. The service was great. I'm not talking Michelin star level, but all of the service staff was super friendly and attentive. Our waitress was able to recommend a non-alcoholic drink that was off-menu for my girlfriend. As for the ambiance, it was quite nice, although I wouldn't say it was my favorite. On the pros side, it is an open-kitchen concept, which I always appreciate in restaurants. We were not seated at the bar but I think it would be a very fun place to sit and watch the kitchen in action. Opposite the kitchen is where they make the pasta (in a room with glass walls), so it's also very interesting to watch the pasta making team in action.Almost every surface is painted white, with lots of stainless-steel surfaces. Even the bathrooms were spotless and had a real candle burning inside (a nice touch). The space overall is extremely nice, but the fact there is so much white (minus a few plants and books sprinkled here and there) feels a bit dry rather than cosy, welcoming or romantic. (I guess that fits with what lots of people think of NYC.)We spent around 2 hours in the restaurant, and that felt perfect for all the food we ate. Price-wise, 2 apps, 2 mains and 2 drinks came out to $137. I would happily pay that price again.Overall, Misi is a great spot for a nice lunch or dinner. 5/5“
“Went last night for a little friend date. We were sat promptly at a nice two top by the front window. Our server, who was the most italian server I’ve had since Italy, described the specials perfectly. Everything sounded delicious and I wanted to hear him talk more. All the food was top notch. The mushroom pasta special was a bit pricey ($29 a little sticker shock) and could have used more of that mushroom flavor, however, the pasta ribbons were of a most excellent quality with a nice chew, so I was still satisfied. The best item of the night was the roasted cauliflower special with the piccata sauce. My only qualm was the server, though magnificent, described the dish as being accompanied by focaccia bread. Upon receiving the check I discovered the focaccia was a separate charge. Felt a slight sense of hoodwinked but no matter - it was delicious bread.Service is nice as relaxed in that very European way. It was nice to be given time and not felt rushed out. In fact, I requested the check, which often time a restaurant doesn’t afford you the pleasure of doing. Will be back for certain.“
“probably the best pizza in new york city. the food was great, we tried 3 different options (and yes, we exchanged slices), they were all to die for. we ordered the spinaci salad and it was the best salad i’ve ever had. note: one salad is not enough to share since it is so good.“
“I love this place. My grandchildren ask to go for the brick oven pizza, chicken Milanese, meatball and spaghetti with lemon.Alessandro handles the bar beautifully and Sara is a lovely server. They run a professional and very friendly place. Food is terrific and they go the extra mile for families.“
“I really wanted to love this place but it wasn't quite there.Pros: breads and dips are great. Highly recommend. Knocked it out of the park hereCons: our pasta was way over salted. Maybe it's a one off but it made it hard to enjoy. Atmosphere is ok. The place has good bones but the designer didn't get a number of things right (e.g. artwork doesn't quite work with the space, table and chairs could have been better selected, floor is an odd choice). It's still a decent atmosphere but they could do a lot more with their space if they had the right designer“
“Looking for some excellent classic southern Italian food? Old school, right out of a movie with waiters in tuxedos and decor from over 50 years ago. Fantastic chicken parm, mussels, eggplant rollatini. It’s been around since 1900 so they must be doing something right. Come down to Brooklyn and make sure you have a reservation. They do have valet parking too.#hollyshotspots“
“I came for the pizza but the dish that really caught my eye and took my heart was the Fire and Ice, stracciatella with chorizo and what I assume is a delicious homemade bread. Of course the pizza (Bee sting) was very tasty as well. The place is cool, nice atmosphere. New favorite spot in bushwick.“
“Just came from a great and delicious dinner. The Ragu, ravioli omg so delicious such great flavor. The only thing we didn’t like - our server was like please hurry up and order our kitchen is closing. So we felt rushed the entire time. Our reservation was at 9 and we got there right at 9. And we sit and then 5 minutes later she tells us this. That was the only disappointing thing about the meal. Other than that food was great!“
“I love this place. Especially on a sunny Sunday afternoon for brunch. It was fun watching fashionable diners of Fort Greene trickle in and out of this airy dining room, ready to devour their brunch plates and cocktails. My lobster scrambled eggs were a bit salty, but I’d let the extra sodium slide. The short ribs with polenta was amazing.Breakout star - I really loved the biscotti that came with the espresso. I wonder if that’s homemade?I was here for dinner before as well. Loved both of my visits.“
“Kenny was contacted on many occasions for information on delivery service. He was very professional and courteous. The food was delivered promptly and was absolutely delicious. It made my Mom's 83rd Birthday a Joyous celebration...kudos..“
“Cafe Mars is truly out of this world! The food is delicious, exciting, and fun — the Waves pasta dish is our favorite in the city. They have excellent wine and amaro/grappa lists and are eager to find ways to introduce you to new tastes. The ambience is one of bright, upbeat, whimsy, with a number of surprises that I won't spoil here. But the star of Cafe Mars is the staff. Everyone you encounter from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave makes you feel like a beloved guest at their wonderfully wubulous dinner party. They are all warm and welcoming with just the right amount of weird, and they've mastered the art of authentic hospitality. Can't wait for our next visit!“
“We came here for the Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu and everything was super solid and delicious. Portion size was perfect (and I’m a big eater). Service was wonderful and attentive as well. Honestly it felt like we were in Italy, nothing on the menu or the experience was americanized.“
“Why does this place not have a Michelin star or two?? Seriously…the food was outstanding, and the service the best we had in NYC. Authentic high end Italian cuisine. I’d go back every week if I lived anywhere close by. Do not hesitate to try this delightful place out. You won’t regret it.“
“My wife and I went on a rare date to Fausto and it was honestly one of the BEST dining experiences I have had in a very long time. The food was excellent, the wine list was extensive, and the staff were so incredibly helpful, kind, and attentive without being overbearing. I would highly recommend!“
“I was so happy to eat here again this past weekend! I used to come all the time back when I lived in Brooklyn, and now that I’m in a different borough, it was definitely worth the journey to Brooklyn. The food is delicious, the service is great, and the inside is both spacious and cozy. I’ve been with both large and small groups, and it’s great for both.“
“Solid spot for a slice or two of pizza. A little limited in options, but still delicious for the classic options. Plus their hot honey hits just right. Some limited seating in the back but the turnover is decent. Service was quick and brought it out to the table.“
“One of my to go spots for delicious pinza. I truly consider Montesacro to have one of the best pinzas in NY. I really enjoy the dough they use and the fresh ingredients. I’ve tried their pastas as well, they are pretty good. They also have a variety of different Negronis - which I love.“
“I will actually get all hoity toity food reviewer with this place. It was sublime. The thing I won't be able to stress enough is how well every thing I tried had the most perfect balance of flavors. You tasted everything, nothing was overpowering. For starters we had the seminola bread with oil, the broccoli rabe, the tuna and red pepper corsitini and the ricotta and honey crostini. The ricotta and honey crostini is a really strong recommend. For the main dish I had the maltagliati with pork sugo Bianco. The pork was excellent. My kid though, they hit the jackpot. They ordered the cavatelli with hot sausage and brown sage butter and it's literally their favorite pasta dish they've ever had. Which is saying a lot because they've been a fiend for spaghetti and meatballs the majority of their life. Our server Nicholas was an absolute pro. Very attentive and quick. The atmosphere is great. As always though, that star rating is affected by size. It's a tight fit between some of the tables, but the ambiance is wonderful.“
“Lovely little restaurant within walking distance of where we were staying. Service outstanding! Never felt rushed despite not having a reservation. The food was delicious. As with most restaurants these days, it’s a bit noisy but the music overhead was not overpowering. We will definitely return here when back in Brooklyn.“
“Natalia our server was amazing , she provided her suggestions with wine options and they were great! She was very attentive and sweet , the place was very clean , food was great suggest the meatballs , Spaghetti Bottorga, Garganelli and Agnolotti.. Enjoy ❤️“
“What a lovely spot for dinner. This place is always great and I think I’ve been here over 10 times. Excellent unique pasta dishes and great service. Super comfy seating as well in the booths. Happy to live right by Barano, thank you guys for an excellent dinner last night.“
“What an incredible restaurant and delightful owners! From the moment you step in, you're greeted with laughter, positive vibes, and exceptional cuisine. Meeting the charming couple behind this establishment is an experience in itself. And of course, the culinary delights they serve will leave you thoroughly satisfied.“
“If you like peppery pasta, then you may like the mafaldini with peppercorn. I thought it was okay. The sheep's milk cheese filled agnolotti on the other hand was delicious! It had saffron on top and the sauce paired well with the cheese. I was very happy with this dish and would come back to have it again. I made a reservation for 4:15pm for 1 and was seated at the bar very close in between people. I would opt for finding a second person to come with next time and aim for non-bar seating.“
“High quality proper Italian. We got the agnolotti, lasagna, and broccolini. The broccolini was by far my favorite. The sauce was wonderful. Could be a bit hotter. The agnolotti was very unique and tarte (in a good way). Very high quality pasta and beautifully cooked. Lasagna we were most excited for, it was good but not anything show stopping. I keep seeing burgers in reviews but it wasn’t on the menu that day. Only thing negative is the service—we kept being forgotten about and had to ask for the check three separate times. The backyard is absolutely wonderful, would totally sit there again.“
“Adult pizza place. We chose an app, a pasta (on special), and a pizza. Our simple palettes chose the Margherita pizza, the pasta assasina (assassin's pasta), and the fried calamari & zucchini app. First of all, every ingredient in everything tasted extremely fresh, down to the basil on the pizza. The calamari is now on my list of favorite calamaris out there! It was light, tender, piping hot and fresh, and the zucchini mixed in was a nice added flavor. It came with lemon wedges and some kind of mayo-based-tasting sauce. Fantastic! The pizza was rustic, purposely irregularly shaped, and fresh. It was thin on the bottom with a toasty tasting crust. With the other 2 dishes also ordered, we split this approximate 10" pie. We likened it to Patsy's. The assassin's pasta was described as cooked in sauce rather than water and then baked with some cheese and chili oil. It was crunchy, and flavorful, but not something I'd order as my meal. It was a good crunchy side to the pizza, and was kinda reminiscent of frying leftover spaghetti to a crunchy texture. The chili oil added a pleasant twist. There are many other pizzas on the menu, but we chose the simple, non-fussy one. But if you're into pizza that's a little different you'll enjoy it here! The small dining room was warm and rustic, and the service was great!“
“The new menu at Faun is exciting and creative. We had every dish on the menu. Always get the foccacia, the hamachi, and eggplant. The pastas were delicious, especially the duck confit pasta. The mushroom dish was amazing, and also the pork and beef. Desserts were perfectly light and not too sweet! Chocolate cake and semifreddo, and ginger cake!“
“The best little Italian spot in bed stuy. The food is soooooo delicious. The staff and owner are super fun to talk to. It's super cozy inside and on the patio out back. And worth every penny.Favorites: oxtail ragu (of course), brown butter sage gnocchi, burrata, and tiramisu♥️.I've been coming here with my fam since it opened and it never disappoints.“
“Such a sweet little spot. I walked in without a reservation on a cold rainy Saturday by myself and even though they didn’t have a table open, they were super friendly and let me know they’d have one soon. I almost settled for the outdoor seating which is enclosed and heated, but they went out of their way to get me a table inside, which I appreciated. The fried artichoke salad was to die for. I feel like some places can be stingy on artichokes but they really had a ton in there. I also got to cacio e Pepe agnolotti which was solid—all of the pasta is homemade (but tbh I did have some order regret after seeing the orecchiette with broccolini and burrata, looked amazing).Overall, I had a really lovely experience.“
“I absolutely live this place. The environment the music the vibee!!!! The food is delicious. Somethings to keep in mind when coming to this place: please try something new every time you come here. This is not a once in a lifetime visit. It is worth coming many times. The Salsa pizza, the Pere E Miele to die for!“
“I am so glad to find a place where they serve authentic Italian food. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. Good wine selection, my server Danny was very knowledgeable, he asked some questions to know what I liked and suggested an orange wine that fit perfectly with my meal. They offer multiple vegetarian plates, but since this was my first time here, I decided to go with the classic and safe option and picked the Cacio e Pepe, the creaminess from the cheese and the fresh pepper was balanced perfectly, leaving you satisfied without a heaviness afterward. Finished with Tiramisu, moist, fresh, not overly sweet. From the atmosphere to the service to the food and presentation, 5 stars!!! I will be visiting again.“
“I wish I had opened Popina myself. It is a perfect restaurant. The spicy chicken milanese and carolina arancini are sublime-- the service is good and I feel a little like I'm in a different city when I go to Popina. One that is hospitable, a little slower, that allows you to savor every moment, sip and bite.“
“Incredible dining experience. I’ve been wanting to come here for some time and finally got reservations last night, did not disappoint! The space is comfortable and roomy. Service was welcoming and relaxed in the best way. We came at 5 and by 6:30 when we left the bar had slowly filled up so might be a good time to come if you’re walking in on a week night. I love that they switch their menu around weekly based off the seasons. We tried the fava bean puree, fried cauliflower, spaghetti with smoked mushrooms, the ragu, and panna cotta. Everything was delicious. The fava beans are not to be missed! Can’t wait to come back throughout the seasons and see what they have to offer!“
“I live in the neighborhood and love this spot for dinner or a night cap. It is truly a never miss spot. They were also gracious enough to host me and some friends for my 30th birthday and it was absolutely perfect. The food was outstanding, the vibes were cozy, and team took amazing care of us!So grateful. You should definitely come here.“
“The food here is fantastic!!! I always go here but what really turned me off about this place is the Pay option, you guys need to start using and accepting Apple Pay. One of the servers was telling us that you guys don’t except Apple Pay so I was really pissed since I use Apple Pay in most places. I had to pay with cash which sucked or take out my card which I didn’t have on me. Hopefully this problem would be resolved. But besides that all service is ok and food is very very good and drinks also.“
“Alex our server was amazing! As well as the overall service! He told us beforehand, that pizza was not available. So, we went with pasta:- Maccherone Ragu- Cavatelli with Mushrooms and Truffle. They were a bit pricey, but delicious!Cocktails were top notch!! (We ordered Yuzu Basil Smash and Averna Old Fashioned)We chose Tiramisu for a dessert to share! It's light and tasty!Atmosphere was also amazing! All in all, we enjoyed this place a lot and would recommend it 100%!“
“This place is a pretty decently priced handmade pasta place. The texture of the pasta was a quite excellent al dente, which I enjoyed. The gnocchi was really soft and I liked the sauce that came with the Monday gnocchi special. The sausage pasta had a great texture but didn’t have much sausage and was a bit underflavored. The mushroom fettuccine had a better flavor but also could’ve had more flavor. Kale salad was alright; good as a $3 add on to pasta. Arancini was pretty crunchy but not sure if worth the price.Cramped sitting area but we managed to find a table for 5. Overall, reasonable pricing, good pasta texture but flavor was lacking.“
“This was my second time at this restaurant. The first time my friend took me there for my birthday, the food was delicious and the service excellent. This time I took my husband there for his birthday, my husband is not easily impressed. When we got there is said this is lovely, I said to him Waite until you order your dinner. At the end of dinner he looked at me and said I'm empress.“
“Our go to spot in the neighborhood! The service is great, the food is even better. And don’t sleep on their brunch! They are also great for private events. We hosted a baby shower on their back patio and they couldn’t have been more helping in the planning process! Will definitely host events here in the future.“
“Lillo is the best! I can’t believe I have not written a review for him yet! It’s a hole in the wall, but everything I have tried was delicious! Really good Italien cuisine. I try to come back here every time I’m in the city. It’s cash only and fills up pretty quickly for dinner time, so come early and prepared. The owner has such a calm and friendly vibe.Thank you, Lillo ❤️“
“The best and most underrated pizza place in all of NYC. The slices are perfectly balanced in terms of sauce and cheese, portions good, flavor incredible. The founder comes front Lucali’s and it shows. The best kept secret for pizza in NYC!Highly recommend the grandma pepperoni and the buffalo chicken.“
“Enjoyed this friendly, classy, modern European brasserie whilst staying nearby in Greenpoint. Burrata and pasta were the highlights combined with a local IPA from a micro-brewer just down the street. Warm and friendly service from the team, but relaxed and casual. Great job guys!“
“Excellent pizzeria. Has an old time look and feel, probably because it’s been around for over 50 years. A slice is actually the cost of a subway fare (within a dine, anyway), like it always used to be. Pizza is really delicious, made fresh to order. Small place with ample seating. Lots of employees, all happy and friendly and talkative. Came here from Canarsie with my grandson and we couldn’t be happier.Parking: Parking within a block“
“Lunchtime Discovery That Demands a Dinner ReturnMy first venture into Rucola for lunch turned out to be an unforgettable experience that has me eagerly anticipating a return visit for dinner. Nestled in a space that can only be described as a rustic cabin meets modern chic, Rucola instantly charmed me with its unique and dope vibe. The highlight of the visit was, without a doubt, the sandwich – a creation so deliciously satisfying, it left me in a state of "nom nom" bliss. It's rare to find a dish that makes you dream about your next visit before you've even left, but Rucola managed just that.Adding to the overall excellence was our server, whose recommendations were spot-on and service was impeccable. It's always a pleasure to encounter staff who enhance the dining experience with their enthusiasm and knowledge.Rucola's ambiance, combined with top-tier cuisine and service, makes it more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary destination. If lunch was this impressive, I can only imagine what delights await at dinner. Counting down the days until I can return and dive deeper into their menu. ???️“
“This place is a great all around food service and atmosphere. Staff was amazing gave great recommendations. You have to order the meatballs for an appetizer top 3 best meatballs I have ever eaten. I can not say enough good things about this place.“
“Lovely atmosphere, attentive servers, fabulous food! Antipasto with prosciutto, salami, mozz, provolone, mushrooms, olives, artichokes, eggplant, roasted peppers, and stuffed hot peppers was yummy, all homemade pasta, beef ragu on pappardelle with a burrata on top particularly good. Nice wine selection. Just a wonderful place for a great Italian meal!“
“Such a gem! It feels like someplace to go with family after work for a hearty meal. The Penne A La Vodka was good but could’ve used a little more flavor. The calamari (not pictured b/c I ate it so quickly) was delicious! So tender & not over fried. Service was lovely, they knew when to step in to offer something or take something away. All in all, lovely experience.“
“I went there earlier today and it was amazing. The man behind the counter was really nice and he was able to explain to me what was good and what was popular. He recommended I get the classic and the porcini which were both delicious. The bread is prepared perfectly. The chewiness of the dough and the taste of the dough are five stars. The dough is also very light. The inside of each panzerotti is filled with a very chewy mozzarella cheese and the filling is delicious no matter what you order. I really love this place and I would love to family and friends here.“
“Personally, this spot is a 10/10 for several reasons. The personable owner is from Italy and knows how to provide great service and authentic cuisine. The atmosphere is perfect for me: lowkey, dim but not too dark, nothing crazy or lavish just a homey, great dining experience. The butternut squash was to die for. Definitely going back!“
“Got the square pie and it didn’t disappoint! Great sauce, perfect crunch on the bottom, killer flavor on the cheese and pep! Seriously an awesome place for pizza if you need a break from NYC thin crust. The rest of the food looked great and I hope I get to try it soon!“
