Great Uruguayan themed restaurant close to all action in Williamsburg. Yummy chivito sandwiches. Cozy vibes perfect for a date night, though I wish they didn't stack all tables so close to each other.
Came here on a date night with the wife who is Uruguayan. The provolone was a fantastic starter, reminded me of the one I had during my last visit to Uruguay. In my wife’s 2+ decades in the states I’ve never heard her rant and rave over a chivito the way she did theirs. She said and I quote “this is the best chivito she’s had since being in the USA,” so that should tell you something. Great place that I would return to for sure. I got the mussels and empanadas for an appetizer and Chicken Milanes for main. I had a zimbala cocktail as well.
The ambiance is great and very dark.
God didn’t particularly crush it for me. Perhaps I need to try some other dishes.

Based on the reviews, Tabare Williamsburg is a cozy and inviting spot in Williamsburg with a great vibe. The atmosphere is a favorite of anyplace in NYC, absolutely beautiful and super cozy and dark, great for small groups or a date. The service is described as great, warm, and attentive. The food is delicious and reliable, with the meat described as excellent. The chimichurri was a highlight. Specific meals mentioned include the roasted beet salad, octopus appetizer, skirt steak, ribeye special, chicken and cheese empanadas, and the special shrimp ravioli. The dulce de leche flan far exceeded expectations, with amazing flavor and texture. The cocktails were really good, and the restaurant is one of increasingly few places where guests can sit down at 10:30 or 11:00pm for a full meal without being rushed. The food is well priced and delicious.
