“We truly enjoyed every bite and the delicious custom cocktails they make. The chefs are amazing and personable, they make the experience just top tier. Thank you for offering such an amazing experience Steven had a wonderful birthday because of sushi by bou and their team!“
“Ordered takeout on Uber eats - my new favorite sushi spot for sure!!! Philly role added cucumber, avocado peanut roll added mango dipped in dynasty sauce, kani salad added extra spicy Mayo, veggie spring rolls (buy one get one free), miso soup & the crab rangoons? omg so delish & everything was fresh!! Highly recommend crab rangoons“
“Good tasting Ramen place.. has a good selection of Ramen and sake .. they have soju also! The miso Ramen tasted good very clean flavors and not overly salty. you can ask for hot chilli oil or sauce to add if you want a little spice.. great service and very witty decor.“
“This was my first time here. Such an amazing place, I highly recommend coming to this spot. Food, service and atmosphere was awesome! If you’re looking for food recommendations we got beef teriyaki, tuna dumplings and sex on the beach sushi roll.I’ll attach the pictures to my review!“
“They have a nice selection of special rolls which I prefer, but their sushi nigiri is also great. I loved their cocktails and they're not too expensive which is a plus. The atmosphere is pretty cool, like a blend of Japanese folklore and cyberpunk with neon signage. I think the service was my favorite part. Our server was really kind. She realized we hadn't gotten our drink orders (they were super busy) so she brought over two more drinks on the house!“
“I’ve lived in Hoboken for over a decade and different sushi places have been my go to but I’d never feel satisfied with the quality. I recently started getting sushi from Illuzion and it is hands down not just the best sushi in Hoboken, but some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. The quality of their food far surpasses any other sushi restaurant in the area. They use the freshest ingredients and give good portion sizes. It’s consistently delicious and you can tell they take pride in their food. This is the only place I’ve been going to for sushi for the past few months and will continue to be the only one. To top that, the staff that works there are extremely friendly and create a very warm environment anytime you go in. Highly recommend!!“
“My go to sushi spot in Hoboken. Great quality sushi and varies different sushi options. The staff are always warm and welcoming and the service is always great. It’s BYO so you can bring a nice bottle and enjoy your meal. Love this place and will continue going back!“
“Best local ramen and specialty sushi. Whenever there's a rainy day I'm craving this ramen. Broth is flavorful and toppings go well together. My go to is the Miso Ramen (the braised pork is delicious and tender). Their specialty sushi's all have one price and are very reasonable. The fish is fresh and tasty. Other sushi places in the area tend to be more pricey for the amount and quality you get here. Also a must try: vegetarian ramen options.“
“First time visiting during my lunch break, very cozy and inviting environment. Staff/owner was great, food / prices are fair and Delicious as well. You get more than what you pay for at Ubu which says a lot about the surrounding restaurants since you get so little with how much you pay. Will be coming back more often.“
“Seaweed salad and Kani salad were good. The Kani was a little bit meh but fine for me. The spicy salmon roll was terrible and I don't say that lightly. It was salmon blended with tempura and heavy on the tempura. Never experienced any sushi ever tasting oily and fried like that. Just rice, nori, and the salmon puree... 16.50 disappointing.“
“I always hoped for an excellent yakatori spot near Hoboken - never would have guessed it would be a dedicated chef working over red hot coals in front of the Starbucks on Newark. Bless this man.I ordered 2 mushroom skewers & one chicken. Was VERY VERY good. Like, I haven't had skewers this good since hitting up that Michelin star Yakatori spot in the city (I do hope they still exist, its been a while).Admittedly, I've passed by him MANY times before making a purchase. I was always either on my way to a lunch with someone in the city or on my way back from one. This time, funnily enough, I was coming back from having handrolls at a nice place. You'd figure I'd be Japan'd out - nope - there was capacity and I had put it off long enough. Was very much worth it. Don't make the same mistake I did, just go for it.It does take time for him to do his magic - he suggested in the future that I could get the order going in advance by sending a message on Instagram. Will take him up on that next time - especially when it's freezing out.“
