“Place is small, and also they have shareable tables just fyi, that threw us off, staff is super friendly and kind. We order some ramens and gyoza which was super flavorful, all their ramens were good, I forgot to take a picture of my husbands but his was spicy and had pork like chicharron (crispy pork) on top, which was to die for, my son didn’t like his beef miso ramen because the meat was minced and also had a sweet flavor so I switched it with mine and then he was happy, my miso pork ramen was delicious, savory and had a little quick since they decorate with what looked like chili oil, delicious but a little spicy. I was super happy with this place, glad we found it and would definitely try it again. Yum“

“Having been to Noz, Amane, Shion, and countless others in NYC, Icca is on the top of my list for a truly traditional edomae experience in NYC. The focus is on seasonal ingredients and a friendly and casual atmosphere.

What differentiates this place from others is that the chef and staff. While Noz presents a high stress environment where the staff are under a lot of pressure to perform, and where Amane is a one man show, and where Shion is about the quietness of the craft, Icca is a balance of craft and personality.

It was wonderful dining here solo especially and each piece I ate was light and fresh. I barely made it through the 16+ courses even with less rice. The staff also really embraces speaking Japanese with you even if you’re a beginner which I found so thoughtful.“

Make sure to get the sushi with MIXED RICE it is a game changerrr. Everything is fresh and delish. You do get what you’re paying for. The yakisoba is a honorable mention. We always get the kani salad, avocado fries, and the koshi tacos so good. For sushi we get the “for two” special and order either the Watchung roll, JJ roll, or the Jersey roll all with mixed rice.. honestly been coming here for over 2 years consistently and never had a bad experience..

We wait a little more of what we expected.
But wait was worth it food was fresh, homemade and delicious, attention it’s def a 1000/10 you feel that you’re in your home, my 5yo daughter mentioned that she was being treated like her grandma treat her (so you can have an idea of how good they were) well, not many words to add.

I really wanted to love Tiam Tiam because the presentation is pretty good, but the execution was a bit inconsistent. On the plus side, the hospitality is top-notch; we loved the complimentary Taiwanese kimchi and dessert, and the portion sizes are generous

Pork Belly over Rice (4.25/5): The standout! It was packed with flavor, though on the oily side

Soft Shell Crab (3.5/5): The crab was well-prepared, but the avocado pairing muted the flavor, making it a bit bland

Taiwanese Fried Chicken over Rice (3/5): This was surprisingly sweet for a savory entree, which others may like that

Century Old Egg Tofu (2/5): A miss for me, it was served cold and the sauce pairing didn’t really work

“SORA is one of the most original and fantastic omakase experiences my wife and I have ever had. We had high expectations from the reviews we’ve read — like the one I’m writing right now! — and thought it’s “probably just pretty good.” How much could a place down the block from fast food spots be?

Well, the second you walk in, you’re instantly transported to a tranquil, inspired, artful, timeless, rarefied omakase den.

Calvin, who greeted us when we walked in, was a perfect guide throughout. We felt like we’d known him for years in just a few minutes. We also appreciated his clear, unpretentious direction through the sake list.

The sushi itself was exceptional. Beyond fresh, we had items we never had before and were completely won over. The boldness of serving shirako (look it up… or maybe don’t! If they have it, just eat this sweet, custardy delight.

Each item we were served was remarkably better than the last. Though if we had to choose a favorite, the barracuda and the mackerel were a tie. Also, the salmon was like any we ever had; silky, flavorful, and like everything at SORA, ineffably delicious.

One last thing: we thought the bill would have been at least double what we were actually charged.

But forget how relatively affordable SORA is, forget that it’s not surrounded by high-end boutiques and luxury apartment buildings. Just know that it is simply one of the best omakase experiences anywhere. (And yes, if you think it can’t live up to this hype, if you go, I’m sure you won’t believe how much you loved it either.). Thank you Calvin and everyone at SORA who gave us such a spectacular night!“

“The Kani Salad Sando is killer! This sandwich is LARGE and tasty. Soft, fluffy white bread (which I usually don't like) holds the perfectly put together Sando like a big hug. Be prepared to be full! The atmosphere is cute & comfy and service is lovely. Our waiter was sweet & attentive. The seaweed salad was fresh and bright. I'll definitely be back to try everything on this menu. ⚡“

So we said that we wanted that. otherwise it was a good meal. “This yakitori stand is truly amazing. The chicken skewers were cooked and served perfectly, and it’s such a comfort food on a freezing windy afternoon. We went to another renowned Michelin starred yakitori restaurant exactly a night before we had Erotori (this yakitori stand). The food we had here is comparable with or even better than the Michelin starred restaurant (with 1/10 of the price). This place is real. It has the real yakitori spirit just like how it’s started in Japan. Served from the street to the general public. No fancy stuff but truly delicious food. We love it.“

The green salad with ginger dressing is delicious, as is the hibachi steak entree. The food is tasty, especially the chicken but the fried rice seemed like it was drenched it teriyaki sauce which made it kinda salty and over bearing. My suggestion to the cook would be to put less or omit it and put it on the side or something. Ill come back to try again and ask them to do that and update my review.“
