“Ended up here accidentally on a layover: Hands down, the best ramen I’ve ever had (springy, slurpy perfection), amazing cocktails (if you like gin the Japanese 75 is a must try!), and whatever the whipped cream, creme brûlée’d banana dessert was tasted like heaven. I even ordered another tonkotsu ramen to go (all the way to Florida) to bring back to my fiancé. They separated all of it, packaged it so it wouldn’t leak, and wrote directions on specific timing for heating up each item! Very impressive service. I’ll be back again!“

“Amazing meal. The restaurant is just staffed by the host and the chef, but the service is impressively attentive. The host noticed I was left-handed and switched my place setting to accommodate that. The meal started with a puree of Japanese sweet potato with toppings like small rice crackers and ikura. Very refreshing and delicious! We then got 4 small dishes- grilled fish with peas and fish cake, fluke, soba with fresh shiitake, and water eggplant.
Then we had 8 courses of tempura- anago, peppers, shrimp, scallop, eggplant, crab, sweet potato, and seaweed with uni on it. This was followed by rice with wagyu beef and a dessert of strawberry and adzuki. Everything was delicious and beautifully prepared. The service was what really made the evening special- each dish was carefully explained, including what seasoning we should use to accompany the dish and everything was conveyed with warmth and a touch of humor. This place is a gem. Thank you for such an amazing meal!“

“Best omakase I’ve ever had in my life and we’ve had omakase all over across the country!

We only did the 12 course and regretted not doing the 17. We came for lunch at 12:30 on a Saturday and it was empty! Not many places open for lunch so I appreciated that they have lunch service. They also gave us some mochi for dessert to celebrate our honeymoon.

I’ll always recommend this spot and plan to visit every time I’m in New York.“

The place is convivial, quiet and enjoyable. The chef is talented, friendly and knowledgeable about all types of fish and recipes. It is always a treat to savor some of his preparations.

We had the omakase experience Premium and every bite was a delight, all fishes were fresh, flavorful and delicious. The salmon belly with yuzu was our favorite app! When it's time for some drinks and skewers for a large group, I was there with seven of my friends, that place was perfect. “Cotra is my favorite restaurant in the area, and it's worth the trip even if you don't live nearby. The cocktails are dangerously good, the kind where you've ordered a second one before you've actually decided to. The ramen comes with properly chewy noodles, the karaage and wings are awesome, and the sushi holds its own. Somehow the burger is also delicious, which feels like a Japanese restaurant casually showing off. The whole place has a vibe that genuinely makes me miss Japan, the bartenders are friendly, and the owners and general manager are usually around and just as cool. Must check out.“

“I’ve been here twice for dinner and am pleasantly surprised each time! It’s an amazing value. For under $100, you get something like 10-12 nigiri courses and a few hot courses, plus a little sweet treat at the end. It was all good stuff too, incl some really yummy and fresh fish, items topped with caviar, foie gras (though this probably varies). Random fun thing: they let you choose your own sake cup!

Mostly counter seating but I saw a few 4-tops in case you have a group and want to socialize more.

Marc and Max are cooking at a level that earns every star — fifteen courses and the execution never slipped once. The Hokkaido uni with king crab and geoduck was my favorite bite of the night. And the dessert was to die for — not one but two, the tropical refresher and then the Fujisan bread with soy caramel and Japanese whiskey. Leave some room. This is what a Michelin restaurant is supposed to feel like.“

they also have a pretty great lunch menu which we didn’t order from but was definitely a good deal. everyone was getting it, we just wanted something else more specific. i do recommend going there for their weekday lunch deal“
