“So I used to work in a ramen shop a while back and have tried several of the popular and some now closed ramen shops in NYC (like Ippudo, Ivan, Totto, Andante, Minca, Ichiran). However, Karazishi Botan is top-tier, if not the best ramen in NYC. This local gem always hits, be it unique takes on Tonkotsu, Tsukemen, or Tokyo-style Shoyu. Broth, noodles, and toppings all executed excellently and with great attention to detail. Their giant karaage and yuzu asahi draft also worth mentioning! They even gave my wife and I a rose when we stopped in on Valentine’s Day. Usually like to gate keep places like these but highly recommend visiting !“

“This is honestly one of the best Japanese restaurant in NYC! As a raw fish lover, I’m always looking for places that serve truly high quality fish, and this place absolutely delivers. Super fresh fish, and an amazing dining experiences!“
“Service is amazing. Comfortable seating and they always try to accommodate me despite big groups. SO amazingly kid friendly they even have a kid set and HH after the kids get off school. My kids love the toyo buns and the ramen. Go tonkotsu black for good broth. AND their smoothies and juices are made with fresh fruit!“

“This place hasn't changed in quality at all since I last visited back in highschool. Its insane, once again ordered my faves the pork bun and tonkatsu ramen. I love the eggs and bamboo shots ❤️ Service was great and fast!
Highly recommend the pork bun 🤤“

“Mixed feelings about this place - definitely not keeping things simple but I appreciate the new take. Had the seafood ramen which was good but have no idea what I was tasting exactly. Will try one more shot. I should stop thinking it as ramen.“

“I had such a great experience here. The kimchi ramen was absolutely amazing and a very kind lady took my order. She checked in a couple of times to see if I needed anything else, also my food was ready with little to no wait. Would definitely come back!“

“Visited here on several occasion. Minimalist decor, dimly lit providing a cozy and intimate ambiance , cute for a date night without feeling over the top. We've had Dawa as our waitress couple times and she is very attentive and personable. Gave us great tips on what to order
The spicy yuzu margarita is my go to drink .Well balanced, strong, not too spicy which i liked. For food, I have really enjoyed their eel roll and salmon teriyaki. Recently tried their Omakase and it was very tasty . The sushi was so fresh, the salmon sashimi was melts in your mouth. The dragon roll was also a great addition. The portion was plentiful, felt very full by the last bite. Overall, really impressed by the quality of their sushi. I look forward to sampling the ramen on the menu since so many people have raved about it.“

“Came on a day I need a hearty meal and good vibes. This was exactly what I wanted. I enjoyed the Takatsu Ramen that was nicely portioned. My friend did have the beef over rice and noted the rice seemed to taste and feel old (so I minus a star on her behalf). I also enjoyed a Thai iced tea, which you can’t go wrong (and they did not)!“

“First let me say the place is very cute. Would definitely make a good date location. The atmosphere is 10/10.
They have a lunch special for $18 that nets you a bowl of ramen and dumplings, which I got. The dumplings are very tasty and the ramen followed very close behind. I got a pork ramen and the broth was a nice golden broth, very light and tasty. The pork itself was absolutely delicious, it was soft and tender and melted in my mouth. I do wish you got a whole egg instead of a half, but I appreciate that the eggs are truly marinated (and delicious)
Service was also very fast and friendly. I was able to go on my lunch break without rushing. I appreciate the roasted garlic and sriracha left at the table for you to use as you please. Overall would recommend!“

“Solid Thai spot right at the borderline of Crown Heights and Prospect Heights. Relatively spacious interior with a decorated front of the house and cozy back room. Extensive menu with plenty of noodle, rice, curry, and all other in-between Thai options!
What we got:
- Rock Shrimp (app): Perfect shareable dish between 2 people! The sauce is a bit sweet, but it goes well. Overall, tasty!
- Duck Roti Wraps (app): Another great starter! | really liked the sweet sauce that was drizzled on the plate, yum!
- Fried Rice with Crispy Pork (entree): Classic Thai dish that was very good! Prob my FAVE of the things we got! Slight spice, but very tolerable and it doesn't take away from the great flavor!
- Pad Thai with Cod (entree): This one was a bit of a miss for me. The noodles were a bit sweeter than l'd like and I would've loved if they added egg and bean sprouts to the noodles to dress it up a bit more. My least favorite dish, but huge portion size!
Overall, we enjoyed our time at Misc! Staff were friendly and very attentive as well. Next time I return, l'd love to sit at the front of the house for a brighter, livelier space!“

“The food was fantastic! However, there’s a problem when dining with a large group. You can’t be seated until you’ve finished all your orders on the iPad. This works well for two or three people, but for a group of seven, it’s simply impractical, especially during busy times.“

“Hi,
I previous left a comment about the ribeye in my ribeye pho being raw. I apologize for that comment as I had not realized at the time that is how it would typically be served. I felt my review needed to be updated after learning that info. My pho was delicious! Just a good refreshing noodle soup. Will be trying their other items soon“

“In past decade plus, in the prior establishments- Thai, Asian fusion/Japanese - the food was horrible and portions were small, especially for takeout (think shrinkflation re: Ubereats/Doordash). We'd try every year or two but were disappointed each time. This new place, Look Deer, opened up the last couple years and we finally gave it a chance this earlier in January. It is run very well. Their sashimi is very fresh and even better, their hot appetizers and entrees - tonkatsu ramen, hamachi kama, fried oysters, salmon skin, just to name a few - are excellent especially when compared to similar small counter-style takeout sushi joints by U (ex. Sushi Bistro, Happy Canteen). Haven't tried a lot of their rolls - which are very good - since we've been testing out their hot entrees. The mackerel is unique and moist. Their takoyaki octupus balls, with fish flakes, are crispy outside and hot and juicy inside, which is how they should be versus likely frozen/precooked & reheated by others (ex. Vivi's Bubble Tea). We also love their sushi for 2, which can be pricey but amazing for a special occasion or treat since it has premium ingredients like sweet shrimp, umi and others (think toro or higher grade tuna). My wife and I now bounce between Look Deer and our regular sushi places (Nagoya, Mitoushi), which are much larger and provide a more intimate setting, including for private conversations. Look Deer is very cozy although cramped but their premium quality and wide selection more than makes up for it. Look, dear, let's try this place out again soon. =)“

“The food was really good but be prepared for an interesting experience. The whole experience was strange. Not good or totally bad. Otherwise we would have walked out but the vibes and the way they ran the place was strange. It could have been the specific day i mean the ac wasn’t working so that’s not their fault or a usual occurrence. However I felt like I was in Europe with the water situation. I’ve never been served cold green tea like it was wine it’s not a negative. They don’t have WiFi so be prepared for that. Then there was the transition for dinner. We came between lunch and dinner so they changed the lighting in the middle of the meal. I don’t mind a little dramatic lighting to set the mood infact I actually love romantic lighting. However there’s a difference between romantic lighting and darkness. If a manager is reading this I recommend getting better table lighting if you are going to turn the lights that low. They also don’t allow outside drinks. We were all going to get cocktails before but we’re kind of put out by not being allowed to bring the lattes inside.
It’s good but If you don’t want strange just go to house of tsukemen instead for better ramen or tsukemen“

“No frills type of space. Kind and welcoming staff with fast service. Looks like they do a lot of sushi delivery but I went for ramen. Got the black garlic tonkotsu which was fantastic. The largest portion I've had in NYC so far and at an extremely reasonable price. I wish I had room to finish the entire bowl. Will definitely be visiting again :)“

“OMG. I don't feel like I have adequate words to describe just how amazing this place is.
We got 3 of their signature sushis and they were all out of this world - I really feel like I discovered completely new flavours here! This is a heaven for vegans.
Also: the dark chocolate cheesecake is a must try! It's delicious down to the last bite (we literally ordered it twice haha)“

“Great ramen with very tasty vegan options and a reasonable price point. Our ramen came out in a reasonable amount of time and there were multiple customization options such as spice level, richness of broth, noodle size and tenderness. Staff was polite and we didn’t feel rushed to leave after finishing our food.“

“So glad I stopped in here for dinner. I was looking for something light yet filling. The spot is intimate and in a strip mall so I didn’t have much expectations. When you walk in it feels so serene & authentic! The food was great portion sizes, extremely fresh sushi and wonderful service. My entire dinner appetizer, entree, & dessert was less than $30. I’ll definitely become a regular here!“

“It was only one other party there when I arrived so I was able to order relatively quickly. I ordered the Za Jiang Noodle and the Spicy Wonton in Red Chili. I loved the wontons. Those were my favorite. I asked the guy behind the register what was his favorite between the marinated fried chicken and the wontons. He mentioned the wontons. They were really flavorful and had a nice spice to it. The texture was good and everything I had tasted fresh. The noodles were separate from the toppings since I was having it to go. I did end up with leftovers and day two of the noodles kind of reminded me of a spaghetti with minced meat texture. the food was delicious.“

“I wasn’t really having too good of a day going around the city and coming back from work in the heat, i stopped by the area, and i just decided “Why not” I really like this place though, genuinely a welcome environment and the one server here was nice and patient too. The food even though I really only had 2 things since my appetite kinda went away from a bad day it made me feel better. The boiled edamame and the sausage skewer were really good even if they were just starter items. I recommend this place. Nice decor, good food, good service. Surprised it isn’t more busy“

“The restaurant is located in the Dyker Heights section of Brooklyn. They prepare Japanese cuisine. I ordered the sushi bento box. It includes choice of soup or salad, three shumai, rice, and eight pieces of sushi. The sashimi bento box is the same with nine pieces of sashimi. The harumaki are Japanese spring rolls and were crisp. The vegetable gyoza are dumplings with a vegetable filling. The food was fresh, well-prepared and well-priced. Very friendly and helpful staff.“

“Tonkotsu Deluxe Ramen is my go-to. Really delicious, really flavorful. Wish the pork slices were thicker. Countertop red spice makes it a little saltier and a little spicier. Do NOT go to the ramen spot in Yokocho Alley, it is not flavorful and you get way less for what you pay for.“
