“So I used to work in a ramen shop a while back and have tried several of the popular and some now closed ramen shops in NYC (like Ippudo, Ivan, Totto, Andante, Minca, Ichiran). However, Karazishi Botan is top-tier, if not the best ramen in NYC. This local gem always hits, be it unique takes on Tonkotsu, Tsukemen, or Tokyo-style Shoyu. Broth, noodles, and toppings all executed excellently and with great attention to detail. Their giant karaage and yuzu asahi draft also worth mentioning! They even gave my wife and I a rose when we stopped in on Valentine’s Day. Usually like to gate keep places like these but highly recommend visiting !“
“The food was fresh and served in a timely manner. I highly recommend their karaage chicken. I wasn’t a fan of the ramen bowl, but I was experimenting with new flavors. I also tired boba for the first time. It was weird and fun to try. The place was clean and pleasant, and the staff were friendly and helpful.“

“We had such a cozy, satisfying meal at Ippudo V with the modern and warm vibe, perfect for a comforting ramen night. Loved their all-vegan selection, which is honestly refreshing to see done so thoughtfully.
We started with the Vrooklyn Gyoza, it was easily one of the best vegan gyozas I have had in a long time. They were incredibly flavorful with a subtle smoky depth.
For ramen, we tried Platon Tonkotsu, their take on the signature tonkotsu-style broth. It was unique, deeply flavorful, and felt like warmth served in a bowl. The tofu and fried enoki mushrooms added great texture, comforting, hearty, and just so yummy. We also tried the Dragon Tantan which had bold, rich, aromatic broth. Deeply satisfying and layered with flavor.
I was really excited to try the Orange Fruit Sandwich for dessert. The flavors were nice and refreshing, though the bread felt slightly dry. That said, it was easy to overlook considering how fabulous the savory dishes were.
The only area that could use some improvement is the service. It was quite slow and there’s definitely room to elevate the experience.
Overall, a fantastic vegan ramen spot I would happily return to.“

“Always a staple in our visits to NYC. Never disappointed. Can be packed sometimes, but so worth it. Really good music and atmosphere.“

“TLDR - fantastic food, service, and vibes.
Noodles are slightly less al dente which is perfect
Broth is not as greasy and felt clean yet savory.
Great music - not so loud but able to enjoy conversations“

“Mixed feelings about this place - definitely not keeping things simple but I appreciate the new take. Had the seafood ramen which was good but have no idea what I was tasting exactly. Will try one more shot. I should stop thinking it as ramen.“

“Some of the best ramen I have had in the neighborhood.
We tried the kimchi (10/10) and the tots. My only complaint about the tots was that they needed more sauce, we asked for a side of Mayo and added their house made hot sauce and it was incredible!
Curry ramen and tan tan ramen were incredible. Left full and very satisfied with our meal.“

“Visited here on several occasion. Minimalist decor, dimly lit providing a cozy and intimate ambiance , cute for a date night without feeling over the top. We've had Dawa as our waitress couple times and she is very attentive and personable. Gave us great tips on what to order
The spicy yuzu margarita is my go to drink .Well balanced, strong, not too spicy which i liked. For food, I have really enjoyed their eel roll and salmon teriyaki. Recently tried their Omakase and it was very tasty . The sushi was so fresh, the salmon sashimi was melts in your mouth. The dragon roll was also a great addition. The portion was plentiful, felt very full by the last bite. Overall, really impressed by the quality of their sushi. I look forward to sampling the ramen on the menu since so many people have raved about it.“

“I've been going here for over two years straight, and the food remains consistent and hearty! This is the best ramen spot in Brooklyn and I've recommended it to all of my coworkers, who come back routinely. I hope this place continues to grow, it truly deserves a thriving business.“

“Delicious ramen but a little overpriced. You only get one choice of broth which is pork, but can customize the spice level and your toppings. The ramen was good but for the price I was hoping the portion size would be a bit bigger. Sitting at the private booths was also a really nice and unique experience, I highly recommend.“

“Went to TORA NYC recently and decided to order takeout, but even from that short experience the hospitality stood out. While we were waiting, they offered us water and were really welcoming, which already left a good impression. The space itself looks beautiful modern, intimate, and definitely feels like the kind of place that would make a really nice date spot.
We ordered three dishes: the Yokan Roll, Negichutoro Don, and Gyudon.
The Yokan Roll was a really nice example of how modern sushi rolls balance texture and richness. Inside was spicy salmon and cucumber, and it was topped with lightly seared salmon, mentaiko sauce, tempura flakes, and tobiko. The seared salmon added a gentle smokiness while still keeping that soft buttery texture salmon naturally has. The mentaiko sauce, made from seasoned pollock roe that’s widely used in Japanese cuisine, brought a creamy, briny umami flavor that paired really well with the fish. Tobiko added those signature little bursts of saltiness, and the tempura flakes gave a light crunch that balanced the richness of the sauce and salmon. It was a well constructed roll where each topping actually had a purpose.
We also got the Negichutoro Don, which had minced medium fatty bluefin tuna over rice. In sushi terminology, tuna is categorized by fat content akami being lean, chutoro the medium fatty section, and otoro the richest cut from the belly. Chutoro tends to be the sweet spot because it has enough fat to be buttery while still keeping that clean ocean flavor. The texture here was incredibly soft and almost melt-in-your-mouth. Negitoro as a dish traditionally mixes minced tuna with scallions, since the word “negi” literally means scallion. The tuna quality here was great and the texture was amazing, but I do think it could be elevated slightly. If the scallions were minced and mixed into the toro instead of sitting on top it would distribute the flavor more evenly. A little shredded nori could add some aroma from the sea, and honestly avocado would pair really nicely with the richness of the tuna.
The Gyudon was probably the most comforting dish we ordered. Gyudon has a long history in Japan and became popular in the late 19th century as a quick, affordable rice bowl. Thinly sliced beef is simmered in a sweet savory broth that’s very similar to sukiyaki sauce, usually made with soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sometimes dashi. The beef absorbs that slightly sweet umami flavor as it cooks. Here it was served over rice with scallions, sesame seeds, and an onsen egg. Once everything was mixed together, the egg yolk coated the rice and beef and brought everything together. The sauce, beef, and egg created that rich silky texture that makes gyudon such a comforting dish.
Even though we only ordered takeout, that level of service was noticeable.
Overall the food was really good and thoughtfully prepared. The fish quality was great, the bowls were comforting, and the hospitality stood out even in a quick takeout experience. The restaurant itself looks like a really nice place to sit down and enjoy a meal, so we’ll definitely be coming back to dine in next time.“

“No frills type of space. Kind and welcoming staff with fast service. Looks like they do a lot of sushi delivery but I went for ramen. Got the black garlic tonkotsu which was fantastic. The largest portion I've had in NYC so far and at an extremely reasonable price. I wish I had room to finish the entire bowl. Will definitely be visiting again :)“

“The food here is incredible - some of the best Japanese food in Brooklyn. However, the service can be quite slow depending on the night and the menus are a bit complicated to understand at first. There is a lot going on in the menu and the formatting is not consistent which leads to a lot of back & forth when navigating the menu.
The first time I visited last year there were absolutely no issues and I had a fantastic experience. However when I visited again a few weeks ago, I had to wait over 20-30 minutes just to place my food order and another 15-20 minutes for the food to arrive (but this is understandable given it is a small kitchen dealing with many orders).
The restaurant was busy but there were still several empty tables, but there was only 1 server. The server helped me to my seat quickly, but then started cleaning and doing other random tasks and chatting with others for a long time before even coming to me to ask me what I would like to order. Maybe it was just busier night than usual or this server was a new hire, but it was quite frustrating having to sit and wait for so long before even getting to place my order. The server seemed to be more concerned with cleaning tables for potential customers (who did not even show up) instead of the paying customer waiting right in front of him for so long. I even saw another customer literally have to get up from her table and walk up to the server to ask him to come to their table and place their order.
Anyways, the food was still really incredible and I had no issues once it came out, but the server seems to have completely different priorities instead of the paying customers who are actually at the restaurant. Maybe if he had some more assistance or if I came on another slow night he would not be so unfocused. But to his credit, he was apologetic about the wait at the end once I paid my bill.
I would definitely recommend the food here (the Veg Croquette Curry, Fried Garlic Chicken, and Chilled Ramen were fantastic), but this is not a place for a casual dinner as you will likely spend over an hour here.“

“A true hidden gem with incredible Thai food!
I really appreciate the variety of vegetarian options here - including mock duck so we have a protein option other than just tofu.
The Pad Se Ew with mock duck is one of the most flavorful versions of this dish I’ve had, and the Green Curry (with tofu) was perfection - not too spicy, incredibly tasty and bold. I also recommend getting some roti to soak up the extra curry.
The drinks are all more on the sweet side - I had the Miami Beach and it was tasty, but a little sweeter than my usual liking. The only reason for 1 less star is because I found the desserts to be a bit of a letdown - the lava cake had no lava and the coconut sticky rice was mostly just rice with some ice cream on top.
Aside from the desserts, everything was fabulous and I would come back!“

“I've been itching to try this place for a while. It definitely falls short.
The restaurant was chilly when I entered, borderline too chilly.
The menu prices werent crazy, but the quality matched the price.
I ordered a hot green tea, chashu ramen, salmon sushi and eel sushi.
The sushi didnt come with a soy sauce dish. Both the salmon and eel were rubbery and a bit dry.
Im not telling people not come here. Its definitely not my go-to spot.“

“We wrapped up this foodie trip with Tonchin, and it truly lives up to the hype. We got in during happy hours so we got a couple oysters, a chashu rice ball, and 2 ramens: Spicy Tan Tan and Smoked Dashi. The foods were very delicious, ramen are both with tonkotsu broth, so if you are into Ichiran ramen, you will love it. The staff were also courteous; they sorted us out with a situation and we were happy about it. Definitely recommend to check out this location.“

“We recently celebrated one of dearest friends birthday here and it was amazing. The ambiance is very nice, calm, private which allow us to catch up with our friends. The food is very authentic, and the drinks are very well crafted. Food and drinks tastes as good as it looks!. The staff's service were beyond expectations... Yangi, she was so attentive! I dropped my chopsticks, didn't expect anyone to notice but, she rush to give me a new set within a second. If you're looking for a good atmosphere, authentic vietnamese fresh food, and great service, definitely check this place out. You won't be disappointed.“

“High food quality. I ordered different food for takeout several times and they never disappointed me. Chicken bento surprised me as the chicken is crispy after I brought it home. The server was very nice. The restaurant itself is a little small but I usually order takeout so it doesn't affect me.“

“Okay, I just got back from Ajimi and I had to immediately write a review because this place is fantastic. Seriously, every single thing we ordered was great.
The highlight for me was hands down the Ajimi Kuro ramen. I could eat that stuff every day. It was just perfectly savory and delicious. If you go, you HAVE to get it.
What really blew me away, though, was the value. The food was exceptional, and the portions were actually really good. I was expecting less given the price, and other reviews so that was a huge plus. We definitely left full and happy!
And finally, the service was on point. Our server was attentive and great, checking in on us when we needed something but never hovering. It was that perfect balance where you actually get to enjoy your meal without constant interruptions.
Bottom line: If you're looking for fantastic ramen and great Japanese food that won't empty your wallet, go to Ajimi. You won't regret it!“

“Cute space and you can tell they care about the food that comes out. Everything smells great and beautiful plating. In talking with the team it’s nice to hear it’s becoming more farm to table - you can definitely taste the difference from other places in the area. Loved the heirloom tomatoes dish- definitely feels like summer in a dish with the pink tangerines! (Pictured ) they also have a cool looking bar hidden in the back that was packed. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area - worth the visit 🙌🏼“

“Tonkotsu Deluxe Ramen is my go-to. Really delicious, really flavorful. Wish the pork slices were thicker. Countertop red spice makes it a little saltier and a little spicier. Do NOT go to the ramen spot in Yokocho Alley, it is not flavorful and you get way less for what you pay for.“

“It was only one other party there when I arrived so I was able to order relatively quickly. I ordered the Za Jiang Noodle and the Spicy Wonton in Red Chili. I loved the wontons. Those were my favorite. I asked the guy behind the register what was his favorite between the marinated fried chicken and the wontons. He mentioned the wontons. They were really flavorful and had a nice spice to it. The texture was good and everything I had tasted fresh. The noodles were separate from the toppings since I was having it to go. I did end up with leftovers and day two of the noodles kind of reminded me of a spaghetti with minced meat texture. the food was delicious.“

“The restaurant is located in the Dyker Heights section of Brooklyn. They prepare Japanese cuisine. I ordered the sushi bento box. It includes choice of soup or salad, three shumai, rice, and eight pieces of sushi. The sashimi bento box is the same with nine pieces of sashimi. The harumaki are Japanese spring rolls and were crisp. The vegetable gyoza are dumplings with a vegetable filling. The food was fresh, well-prepared and well-priced. Very friendly and helpful staff.“
