The ramen here is delicious, rich , full of flavor and best part it taste homemade! The Korean fried chicken is definitely a must try and it has a great amount of heat to it both are 10/10 for sure.

The owner and servers are very nice, welcoming and helpful. If you’re unsure about what to order or need help ordering they’re happy to explain the menu and help you choose.

Ive lived in Astoria for 11 years and ive had many many visits to HERO THAI & IZAKAYA & i can say with supreme confidence ive NEVER had a bad meal or experience here.. This might seem excessive but ive the background to make such a grand statement.. im a veteran restaurant nyc restaurant professional with 7-nytimes reviewed 3 star chefs ..& this is my place ALWAYS my first choice.. NOT because the food is soooooo delicious— the flavors and textures just bounce off the plate..NOT because they have genuine food lovingly presented and executed,NOT because they have excellent 🧊 icy frosty cold draft beer— SINGHA!!! NOT because the menu runs the gamut of AUTHENTIC THAI AND JAPANESE cuisine, NOT because the fish 🐠 tanks always provide excellent entertainment OR the gentle price point of everything on offer …A terrific HH with SINGHA draft beers 🍻, cocktail specials and lunch and dinner chefs additions..BUT for HERO’s warm gracious service and understanding what HOSPITALITY means— as a solo diner am i im always greeted with not only a smile but a genuine interest in my visit..and that’s a rare experience..MY personal favorites are takoyaki,chive pancake,duckroll,sweet chili jumbo wings— crispy duck salad,Larb beef,Mango and avocado salad,Spicy Shrimp Salad— And entree Pad-Ka-NaMoo Grob( stir fried Chinese broccoli( lan mai) with the crispiest pork belly lardons you will ever have— I ask for it spicy 🌶 but be careful thai chilis ARE HOTTTTT!! And my favorite soup DUCK UDON NOODLE SOUP—,i always have this on a cold rainy day and nothing is better..: Ive decided not to be selfish and share the glory of this sparkling gem— it hits a lot of sweet notes for me — with so many incredible options you have so many lovely choices— I have not had every dish but i do plan on trying— what an adventure!!! Give this place a go — you won’t regret it — it never disappoints.. they are always happy to see you — really.“

“I came in here for a quick lunch, and overall it’s a good spot for quick sushi. The girl at the register was also very sweet and polite.

I can say I probably won’t be ordering the bento box again. For $15, there are definitely better bento box options around. I just happened to have a craving and that’s what I wanted at the time.

The California roll was great and tasted fresh, but I wasn’t a fan of the teriyaki flavor, and it did hurt my stomach a bit. The gyozas were nicely crisp, but I didn’t really care for the filling. The miso soup was delicious, and I didn’t touch the veggie mix.

Overall, I’d come back for the sushi, but I’d probably order something different next time.“

“Tokyo Ya is a hiden gem best shushi all you can eat place. everything was cooked to perfection. Price is the cheapest AYCE. Quality of fish super fresh just melts on your mouth. went twice with no disappointment. server was awesome and food came right away. the electronic ordering is cool awesome. first time ever giving a review to a place I really like and did not disappointed me at all. 10/10 ( from an enthusiastic AYCE Gal)“

“This is such a cute place and the food was delicious! I came here for dinner with a friend and I got the Crispy and Spicy Sesame Chicken Donburi which was divine. The decor inside is super cute and cozy plus the service is excellent — they were so welcoming and efficient. Didn’t try the ramen this time but my friend did and it looked amazing. I will absolutely be coming back so maybe next time! Anyways, definitely recommend if you’re in the area“

“this was my first time trying ramen and i loved it! i love that you can customize everything and get extra things on the side. i got the veggie ramen with extra scallions, garlic, and white rice. everything was delicious. i know they add some hot oil to it which was good but sometimes it was a bit spicy for me so i might not get that next time. i also didn't need extra scallions becuz it was a good amount in there.

i know this place is super authentic and a unique dining experience with the booths. i really like that. they don't do tips and only take card. i came around 4:30 on a tuesday and i got seated right away. everything was just wonderful. i would come back for sure.“

“Ended up here accidentally on a layover: Hands down, the best ramen I’ve ever had (springy, slurpy perfection), amazing cocktails (if you like gin the Japanese 75 is a must try!), and whatever the whipped cream, creme brûlée’d banana dessert was tasted like heaven. I even ordered another tonkotsu ramen to go (all the way to Florida) to bring back to my fiancé. They separated all of it, packaged it so it wouldn’t leak, and wrote directions on specific timing for heating up each item! Very impressive service. I’ll be back again!“

The broth was delicious, and the garlic paste, chilli powder, and chilli sesame oil at the table allowed me to adjust the spice & flavor to my preference. Food was ready within 5 minutes of ordering. “Definitely one of the best ramen broths I’ve had, and I try a lot. The broth is clean with crisp flavors. I ordered the Kara (which is the spicy) on the side. I decided to control the spice level on my own, the kick is good, but I didn’t want too much of it.

The grilled pork belly is a good side to add.

“Today I visited Kohoku Ku Ramen and ordered takoyaki and EBI ramen.
The food was really delicious. The takoyaki was crispy on the outside and soft inside, with a rich and flavorful sauce. The EBI ramen had a strong shrimp aroma, and the broth was rich and tasty.
I wasn’t feeling well today and had a stuffy nose, but the hot soup with a slightly spicy kick really helped clear my head. It felt so comforting and refreshing.
Overall, a great experience—definitely a place I would come back to!“

“I got the tonkatsu tsukemen and it was so good. The porky broth was perfect balance of garlic. It also came with bean sprouts, and egg, and 5 slices of pork. Great value. Also got the fried chicken and it was so soft and crispy with not a lot of batter. Service is great and everyone really cares here“

The selection of Ramen was wide enough for me to feel lole there were options, and the customer service alongside it was great. “We came in a party of five - two adults and three kids. We ordered one tsukemen, two ramen (deluxe and miso), one kid’s meal, and one fried chicken (karaage with Korean spicy sauce). All were delicious and filling. Anime is playing from a projector on the wall, which kept my boys occupied and quiet 😉. Staff were polite to us and the kids. “I got the basic Ramen and it was great! Next time I will add the extras. It was our first time so we didn’t know what to expect. Great texture and the broth was rich. Absolutely amazing! “So I used to work in a ramen shop a while back and have tried several of the popular and some now closed ramen shops in NYC (like Ippudo, Ivan, Totto, Andante, Minca, Ichiran). However, Karazishi Botan is top-tier, if not the best ramen in NYC. This local gem always hits, be it unique takes on Tonkotsu, Tsukemen, or Tokyo-style Shoyu. Broth, noodles, and toppings all executed excellently and with great attention to detail. Their giant karaage and yuzu asahi draft also worth mentioning! They even gave my wife and I a rose when we stopped in on Valentine’s Day. Usually like to gate keep places like these but highly recommend visiting !“
