“Cocktail is great and I recommend the ones with matcha. Seafood is fresh and well done with the combination and flavor. However their hot dishes are ok, such as the tempura rice, grilled soft crab. Wish their hot dishes are as good as other ones!“
“Really amazing happy hour! I got the edamame which was so savory and delicious and the karaage chicken. The chicken was pretty spicy so I wouldn’t recommend if you are sensitive to spicy food. The restaurant is rather small but we didn’t have problems getting a table on a Wednesday night. The servers were very attentive and made sure our drinks stayed full.“
“The food was very good! I ordered the chicken livers, fried oysters, Japanese fried chicken, Brussels' sprouts and vegetables, potato salad and Japanese crackers. I asked about using MSG and they clarified which dish. The only problem I had was the choice of music with profanity. Rap music for me was a negative reflection of the business and didn't even fit the demographics of the area or the business culture! If I came back and the music selection was the same it would be for me an insult based on the above. I also was born in Japan and know about demographics of business in this area for I manage a business in this community.“
“If I could give this place more stars I would. The food is fantastic and so fresh. The wait staff are so incredibly friendly and welcoming. The best ramen/Japanese bbq in the neighborhood. Oh, and they have pool on the second floor. So good! 100/10 recommend.“
“Industry City in Brooklyn ?. We went to look at furniture and ended up finding a great sushi ? restaurant. It was bumping, people at the counter, tables packed- we were able to grab a spot at the bar ? which was quiet and perfect. They had all the favorites: miso soup, salmon teriyaki, freshest of seafood ? and saki flights.“
“Everyone in NYC raves about Tonchin, and it's definitely worth a try. It's super popular so make sure you make a reservation. The space itself is fairly large and comfortable. The Momo mocktail ($12) was sweet and refreshing. As for food, I went for the Tonchin Classic Tokyo Tonkotsu ($21). It was delicious, with a rich and savory broth and perfectly jammy egg. However, I have had better value elsewhere with more toppings, meat, etc.“
“I wouldn’t call Katana a dive bar, but on a Tuesday night it felt like a great neighborhood bar. Relaxed atmosphere. Was surprised at how small it was but that added to the chill vibe. I bet on a Thirsty Thursday and the weekend that all changes, but the bartenders and the craft cocktails will be just as great.“
“Tasty izakaya place for dinner! Drinks were great, all very balanced flavors. We had a variety of hot and cold plates, which all came out very timely. Seafood dishes tasted fresh and the Beef Tongue Curry was delicious! Also had the Ebi Katsu which was 10/10. Dishes are good portions for sharing comfortably between 2/3 people.Funnily enough, didn’t get pictures of the yakitori, but definitely recommend the gizzards, hearts, or oyster—super tender, well-grilled, and seasoned.I think experience could definitely be shaped by what you order so it’s nice they have a nice variety of dishes to choose from.Dietary restrictions: They did ask about allergies after confirming our selections.“
“The food here was absolutely delicious, the service was great, and the ambience was cool (including the music). I lived in Japan for a few years and really couldn't find good agedashi tofu anywhere - but the agedashi tofu here was so so good. I would go again just for the agedashi tofu. We also had the beef nabe, okonomiyaki, ddukboki, and yakisoba - all of the dishes were superb.“
“This place is hard to find at night but it’s a hidden gem! They have a Japanese and Korean fusion menu that has fun and flavorful dishes. The creamy kimchi udon was to die for!! The sashimi don was also a knock out! Well… the pictures speak for itself. lol I definitely will be going her again. It has a nice aesthetic downstairs. The only downside of this place was that our waitress wasn’t the kindest but that did not take away from the overall dining experience and food quality. We ate DOWN!“
“Wonderful food, great atmosphere, nice staff. We came in last week with a large group after a work party, and everything was perfect. Good options for vegetarians also. Thank you! 全部は美味しかった!ごちそうさまでした。“
“Mmm, so good. We were staying at the nearby Park Central Hotel and looking for a decent restaurant within a quick walk. This one cropped up with good reviews, so we figured we'd try it. Best meal of our week-long NYC trip! I got the Curry Ramen, which was fantastic, with perfectly crispy pork katsu and nicely springy ramen noodles. My wife and daughter also enjoyed their selections. I think one was the Kin Ramen (which I also got to finish, since it was too big for my daughter -- the chashu pork was excellent! The place has a hip and cozy atmosphere. Service is friendly and quick. An excellent place to satisfy your ramen craving!“
“Came here twice, and loved it both times. The dishes we ordered were Liempo / Pork skewers (least favorite), sizzling buffalo steak with bone marrow, bone marrow salpicao, miso cod, truffle mushroom tofu sig, and the Gugu express.Favorite dishes were sizzling buffalo steak and bone marrow salpicao. Both of their marrow dishes are absolutely delicious. Also recommend the Gugu express for vegetables.“
“Loved this place! The most authentic yōshoku (western style Japanese food) one can find in NYC, from presentation to the food itself. Ordered the curry with Tonkatsu and every bite was delicious. Tonkatsu was perfectly crispy and the curry went really well with it also. If you pay a little bit extra you get 5 small side dishes and a miso soup, that I think was well worth the price. The only complaint I have was that the miso soup was a bit salty, but it was not too bad. The restaurant was pretty spacious, which is hard to find in the East Village. Bonus point: we went there at 9:30pm and we stayed until they started to close - but they were patient and did not rush us at all.“
“The sushi and sashimi were amazing! The Tamago, miso soup and matcha iced tea were wonderful. And the staff here is fantastic! I asked to buy a cup to take as a souvenir for my son- who loves sushi - and they gave me one! Thank you all so much!“
“We had the mochi fry, the wagyu tartare, and the electric chicken. For drinks, I got the pecan-something drink. The wagyu tartare came first and it was delicious! The wagyu was so juicy and soft and the bread they chose is the Asian kind so i’s very fluffy and nice. The toppings on top were also tasteful. The mochi fry is so unique I’ve never had anything like it. It’s crispy but chewy on the inside, it’s a must-try at the restaurant and I’d go back just for these two plates. They gave us scissors and gloves to cut into the electric chicken. I have beef with the pair of scissors they chose but anyways the chicken was quite spicy and maybe too oil-y. But I enjoyed the dishes. We got the honey butter meringue soft serve dessert and while it was good (the bottom was melty and the top was more foamy), I don’t think it’s worth $22… drinks and a dessert should not cost that much but it is nyc after all.“
“I stopped by Izakaya Nana after a fun filled day in Flushing. Me and my friends had the pleasure of sitting in their traditional Japanese private dining room and loved every minute of the experience. It felt like we were transported to Tokyo. Our favorite dishes include the yakatori sampler, A5 wagyu, and truffle fries! I also recommend the strawberry sake mojito. The staff were pleasant and attentive. We can’t wait to come back!“
“What a nice surprise as we accidentally stumbled across this place. I had the hot soba noodles with rice and curry and my friend had the grated yam soba noodles. We shared the grilled mackerel which was perfect! Definitely will be coming back here!“
“Definitely one of my favorite yakitori spots. This place can get packed at night although the wait usually moves pretty quickly, it can be long if your timing is unlucky. I really only ever get yakitori here. They have a lot of fried options, I gave a lot of them a try, but never really liked any of them (and I generally like fried food, who doesn't?!?) maybe I am just more familiar with the traditional grilled yakitori, I would recommend sticking mostly with that. I can't say which item is my favorite, I really like everything! Definitely ask for extra lemon wedges, the acid really goes well with the smokiness of the meats. Can't wait to come back again!“
“The food was of the best quality I have had in Midtown! Fresh fish and delicious rice bowls. The service was extremely forthcoming. The place was quiet even though it was a good lunch crowd. A minor issue for me is that the kitchen is open (like many other places), so some fabrics take on the smell.Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian, Vegan, gluten freeWheelchair accessibility: Street level, no stairs“
“Very cool omakase counter in the sub $200 range that differentiates itself with its trendy vibe and interesting ingredient combinations.Juku does not pretend to be something it isn't. It feels upscale but casual with lofi hop in the background and professional service. The chefs are effortlessly personable and knowledgeable. The nigiri are beautifully presented. The strong suit is the quantity and variety with 17 pieces and a hand roll featuring omakase's greatest hits as well as some less typical selections. Most of the fish are from Spain, Hokkaido, or southern Japan. The highlights included the Hotate with smoked sea salt, the layered chu toro and otoro, the ikura, the yellowtail belly, and the uni but I enjoyed every piece. There is interesting and restrained use of garnish like pickled scallion and even ghost pepper salt. The rice has a clean, tart vinegar taste and a firm texture with discrete grains.Overall the cool and casual vibe here pairs perfectly with the restrained creativity in this quality omakase. I will be back.“
“It is a really small place but it’s a sake bar .. it’s a small cute bar with red ambience, I believe it’s red coz sake is originated from Japan and Japan has its red circle in the flag which symbolizes Japan.. had a sake bomb which is fun to have and loved it.. the bartender was really helpful in selecting the drinks and make our lives easy for a sake bomb.“
“I love this place. I split the 3-4 person group meal, which had about 6 courses (including sesame oil cabbage, sesame oil pickled cucumbers, shishito peppers, fried smelt, salmon, yellowtail, scallops, lightly fried chicken, Yakiniku, miso salmon + shimeji mushroom bake, seafood ramen, hojicha pudding). The price has gone up a bit recently but I don’t even care tbh cuz this place always hits “
“I was here a couple weeks ago. Very welcoming and friendly. I came here by myself sat at the bar. The attention to detail was there, the bartender was great with information on Japanese whiskey and cocktails. The dessert was blew my tastes bud away.“
“The octopus fried balls were very good as a starter. The Japanese pancake (forgot what was in it) was something I'd order everytime. The Japanese cocktails were sweet but not overpowering, I actually really enjoyed them which I didn't think I would. Also, the Ramen was solid, not the best I ever had but not something I'd take a star off for.Overall, I would definitely go again and would recommend trying it out.“
“This ramen place is a true gem, and their deluxe option with pork broth is an absolute delight. From the moment you take your first sip of the rich, flavorful broth, you know you're in for a treat. The pork is tender and succulent, and the noodles have the perfect texture. It's a symphony of flavors that leaves you craving more with every slurp. Belissimo doesn't even begin to describe it! If you're a ramen lover, this place is a must-visit.“
“Friends told us about this place because they knew we'd just spent a couple of weeks in Japan and were desperately trying to keep the amazing foods and experiences going once back in the States. This place does not disappoint! Food was incredible, sake selection divine and the vibe was excellent. It was nice feeling like we got into a secret dining spot and we cannot wait to go back!!! PS - get the Ishiyaki A5 Wagyu Beef! Better yet, get two!“
“I tried their food for the first time and it was really delicious. The service staff was very kind and attentive. The food was fresh. The atmosphere was very warm and cozy. If you want to try the delicious dishes of Japanese cuisine, I definitely recommend you to try it.“
“Portions are definitely small, but everything was SO GOOD. We ordered something from every section of the menu and it's hard to pick a favorite, but one highlight was the chawanmushi appetizer. The place ain't cheap but for the quality, it's totally worth the money. That said, you'll probably still have room for a $1 slice after leaving.“
“You can enjoy delicious Japanese food at both the first and second parties. We often go there for after-parties, and it's our favorite Japanese restaurant because we can eat all the dishes we want to eat right now (curry soba fried rice, etc.).Even for the first party, the course is only $66, so it's reasonably priced and delicious, so it's a famous restaurant that I highly recommend.“
“This is the third version of Hagi I've dined at, and closer to the first - the basement on 49 Street - than to the second, and that makes us happy. The food is good to very good. The Happy Hour to 630 PM is a good value. The menu is large. Knowing roughly what you want before you go is a good idea. We've enjoyed the crispy rice & tuna, kushiyaki A, oshinko, Japanese sausage, seaweed salad, Toki Highballs, Soju, Sochu, and Happy Hour Sake. The vibe is comfortable and unfancy. We make this a go-to.BONUS good valueSHOUT OUT to May for excellent service.TIP location across the street from the Circle in the Square and Gershwin Theaters.TIP no reservations“
“OMG loved this little place. The food was amazing! Service was lovely. And the best thing… they have animes playing on TV + you can request what you want. Our server was amazing enough to put on ‘Your Name’ as soon as I asked Thank You ?“
“I came here to have lunch with my friends. We ordered tonkatsu ramen, black garlic Ramen, truffle shoyu ramen. We also ordered thigh, ribeye, tebasaki(wing), sausage, shrimp skewers. Food was very good and fresh. I love their takoyaki. Good service and atmosphere.“
“Great spot to grab sushi before a show at MSG in New York City.Sushi was made fresh to order and packed with umami.Great menu with a variety of dishes to choose from but it seems most of the other patrons were enjoying the Candy Floss Sukiyaki Hot Pot (cotton candy as an ingredient for the hot pot broth).Wait staff were friendly and attentive, happy to accommodate dietary requests.Definitely coming back when we have more time to try the Candy Floss Sukiyaki Hot Pot and some of the other great menu items.“
“A must have local spot here in Astoria. The staff always make you feel welcome, the service is fast, and the food is always good, not to mention their prices are fair especially in this economy. My personal favorites are the Massaman Curry, coconut rice, and curry puffs. Their appetizers are always delicious.I would claim that this is the best Thai food spot in Astoria. Enjoy!“
“This is a review for UPSTAIRS - no preset menu but superb vibe. Went here on a Tuesday this DJ ‘Very J’ was playing and his music was really enjoyable. The overall space is great cute sized plates and affordable IMO. Tasted the cucumbers which were spicy and delish as well as the chicken which had a nice citrus kick to it. Would go back, BUT only on a Tuesday as the DJ has a residency, had to ask him when i could hear again. :) thanks so much“
“What a great find! Stumbled upon this small, well-run, warm Japanese restaurant specializing in delicious dishes of many kinds. We had delicious salmon over rice, fantastic salmon and mushrooms in miso cooked in foil, outstanding miso soup, and their fabulous panda cotta dessert. I can't wait to go back and try other things and enjoy the wonderful service by the earnest staff.“
“Great little izakaya on Restaurant Row in midtown. Great service, great tapas/bar food and a nice selection of shochu and sake! This will probably be my regular after work spot on nights when I work late. And since there are TVs at the bar, on game nights as well!Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian skewers and small plates (tapas).Kid-friendliness: No kids menu but child seats and some items with smaller portions. It's not a child-center environment by any means but I've seen Japanese parents there with their children and I'm sure you can ask for certain items in smaller portions.“
“Pros: Good food! After a few visits we tried all of the small plates and rolls on the menu and everything was delicious. Fun cocktails. Cozy and comfortable. (Try to get seated on the perimeter of the space, the tables in the center of the room can feel a little claustrophobic.) Fairly priced. Cons: Uneven service. On two separate visits, the server forgot my drink. The server on our last visit was downright surly; she really seemed like she did not want to be there at all and spent most of the evening ignoring us. And, also during our last visit, we almost turned around and left because it looked like the place was closed. It was dusk, all the lights and signage were turned off, tables and chairs were stacked out front and a large pile of cardboard recycling was waiting to be picked up. I only saw that there were lights and people in the back of the space when I was out front.“
